If you’ve just purchased the X20, they’re going to show an available firmware update. It’ll read 2.4.2. Don’t install this update. When I first got mine, I adjusted the 10 band EQ with bass boost off, & had it sounding really good. The bass was smooth, the mids were crystal clear & detailed, with smooth sounding highs. After installing the update, the sound was somewhat dull,flat, & almost muddy sounding. I used same phone, same music, same music app, & the exact same EQ setting.
@@CrashBack7 Dude, i personally have a boombox 3 and i am happy with it, but you cant be running around saying every other speaker is chinese rubbish that will blow out. No, the x20 wont blowout, the guys behind the product are real experts and, as a fact, making a bluetooth battery powered speaker is not sci-fi in 2024. Its a great product for a much lower price that will make people rethink about spending much more on a JBL!
@@CrashBack7You're painting with a broad brush. I've got 5 W-King speakers, ranging from the smaller D320's to the X10 to the T11's. I've had them a while now (1-3 years). I play them loud and I use them hard. Zero problems.
I think it's a pretty impressive result from W-King. Not perfect by any stretch but a good showing. I see some significant discounts on it as well where I'm at which further improves the value. Thank you for another awesome review and comparison, Alan! 😁👍👏

I am just wondering, would 2 of these in stereo sound better than only one? I mean would there be less of a harsh peek or would the bass sound any better?
The X20 was designed to perform well outdoors, while the BB3 performs better indoors, while being plugged in getting the full 180 watts & placed near a wall.

blast for more serious indoor and x20 for party outdoor fun. depends what you want, x20 certainly will dig deeper so if its all about the bass then x20 wins for sure. but two blasts? hummmm
Hello from Brazil. It's really difficult to choose the best between wking x20 and bombox 3. the maximum volume of both is similar. the bombox in some songs seems to have more quality and detail. but the wking seems to be fuller and maintain more sub-bass at maximum volume. So I think it depends on the listener whether they prefer a little more detail or a little more sub-bass at high volumes. The funny thing is that here in Brazil the bombox 3 is normally sold, but the wking x20 is only imported and then it is MUCH more expensive than a bombox 3 here. Brazil is rubbish.

I've been waiting so long for this review. Is the x20 on the newest firmware? I hope W-king can fix these eq issues with a software update. Are you ever going to use a custom eq on the x20?
Typically *RMS* speakers are rated at half the Peak Power, so if they say they are rated at *250W peak,* then they are probably rated at *125W RMS,* not 200W RMS. The power output of the *W-King X20* is identical to the _TRONSMART BANG MAX_ which generously states in the Amazon listing that it is *130W* but it doesn't say it is RMS or Peak but I will guess it’s *RMS,* so the W-King is a bit misleading.
I wasn't familiar with "W-king" until recently, (living under a rock) so got my hands on the ~W-king D9-1 and I've decided its a brand worth investing my time in. I'm in process of getting the t9 pro , but after the that , its gotta be the W-king X20! and I've noticed with each release since the W-king "D9-1" model they've gotten better as a brand and each speaker release has gotten better. thanks for doing what you do! your videos couldn't keep me more interested in the process! from product review ,to comparisons ,personal opinion, pricing ,tuning, apps, and of course sound tests! ha. ill be seeking this next for sure. I've got the bang max and some new info on that including the halo200 ill email you , ill be doing my best to get my hands on a W-king X20 for sure! thanks again for info ,your time and opinion etc. Greatly appreciated-rich

Your Majesty, thank you for another unbiased review. Also, please be so kind and advise as to whether I should buy Soundcore Motion + or Soundcore Motion Boom. The aim is clarity and neutral sound over boominess etc. Therefore I assume I should pick up Motion + but I will be much obliged if you chimed in. To anyone who’s recently purchased the X20, don’t install the firmware update. When I first got mine, I played around with the 10 band EQ & had it sounding really good, with crystal clear mids & smooth sounding highs. Mind you, this was at near max levels. I installed the update & it just didn’t sound the same. It had a dull, flat, & almost muddy sound, in comparison before the update. Same phone, same music, same music app, same EQ as before. Am I the only one that’s experienced this?

hey bro, yes the motion boom is absolutely recommended. I bought it a month ago and its awesome for indoors. For outdoors maybe you would need something bigger, like partybox 110.
Can you tell me if the W-King X20 has latency in its AUX IN, if you connect a musical instrument there, is it possible to play the instrument connected to the AUX IN, without latency? I know that this model already has a LINE IN for Guitar, but I would like to see if the AUX IN works without latency. I've already tried it on JBL and it doesn't work, JBL's AUX IN has a lot of latency and it's impossible to use it to play an instrument.

Whelp, I watched this video again and went and bought one of these things but not for music actually. I have been looking for a battery powered bass practice amp and pretty much everything I am finding is just a guitar practice amp rebranded for bass. This seems to go down to 40 hz sorta so I am hoping this can handle a 4 string decently and at least maybe be able to hear the low B on a 6 string enough for practice. This thing is heavy but it would be a LOT easier to lug around than my old 50 Lbs Hartke practice amp and battery powered as well. Watching the results of their "10 band EQ" it almost seems like maybe the DSP only really has a 5 band and they are combining sliders behind the scenes in the app...
There are two updates released for the soundcore Boom2 recently (3.11), which changes a lot. The overall experience is much better now than before. Can You guess or say what was improoved without reading release notes? I'm verry excited 😁

@@alanrossreviews OK, i think you didn't noticed it... The Boom 2 had bass issues at low volume, 30% and lower, especialy with bass heavy EDM. The bass came and went uncontrolled...The Boost Upgraded and the old Motion Boom, they have the same problem. But for the Boom2 it's finally fixed and you can also use it for listening at low levels now 👍

Alan ,with the right EQ adjustments can you make the W-King sound better… if so can you show me the EQ settings like you did on the soundcore boost and boom?
Alan, your settings on the SC Boom gave it a clear warm sound with an emphasis on deep bass. That’s what I’m looking to do on the WKing , make it clearer but have that warm deep bass sound…. Basically make it sound better than the JBL BBx 3. In all the videos I watched the WKing x20 always sounded a little muffled/ muddy compared to the JBL BBx3. But, regardless let me know if you can set the EQ to assist with this and what your settings would be…Thanks!
Sonova beach... I googled W-King X20 to check the price and nothing showed up. Had to do much digging then I found out it is called the D20 here in thailand (comes with mics and all that bs) and cheapest price here is around 210 usd after conversion. Alan, can you come up with an eq to try flatten the response? You reckon that is possible with the built in eq? Could the eq get you within 2 or 3db max?
im not sure, when i saw how the bands worked i didnt want to try it 😝 seems you can stick a lot of the highs back just by selecting a single slider though. another day i will try but i have things I want to get through first.

Hello alan my wking x10 lights doesn’t go off even after turning it off, is there any possible fix? It works and plays normal but the lights don’t go off and it drains the battery please how do i fix it
The crossover issue with the midrange and tweeter is due to them forgetting to add an inductor for the mid, since the only thing crossing over the mid to the tweeter is a 2.2uF capacitor
@@pixelreflectorpro do we know what type of crossover was used? I do fear all these cheap 3 ways use active on sub and passive on woofer/tweeter. They never get it right. They might as well not even bother crossing the mids and highs as the tweeter always seems compromised.
@@pixelreflectorpro i think part of the issue here is that its using stereo enhancing so it's hard to tell whats actually happening here from a straight near field sweep. However listening to it you can clearly hear issues between mids and tweeter. I wish they would provide a clean mode to get rid of the issues.
Have this speaker it only has one down side they forgot to put the led in the back panel other than that it’s a 10/10 since the update the bass is much rounder and smother than when first released

i get a few pennies but its not much. on average they say 1 million views get you $1000 so you can see how little a few thousand views gets you. this is why when channels grow big enough that they think they want to do it full time they are so tempted to become shills just to get some money in.
This pretty cool. If I recall correctly W-King H10 was quite a beast compared to the BB3 at maximum volume as well. So its neat that with this X20 W-King was able to follow suit on that. It's always more interesting when you review speakers outside of JBL and Sony - being well established you don't expect any surprises from those brands (which I suppose is why many seem to go for them).
@@alanrossreviews Have you seen people using a Sony XG/XE speaker? I've not seen anyone use one. I've come across plenty of people using either an XB43 or XB41.
Thanks for another wonderful show. The dB readings you give are a lot more informative than the watts ratings, there are some products beginning to emerge where their specs show max dB and hopefully will be the way forward. Soul? You have your soul, we have our soul 😂
what we really want is a true rms and true peak (which is not max) but its just one measure and nobody bothers with standards anymore so its all meaningless really. one reason why i do my own measurements to see how loud in the real world it goes with some sort of standardised method across speakers.

I just love music I’ll buy all of the speakers I like. I currently have the X20, Bang Max, Tribit stormblast, W-KING D10, JBL Charge 5, pulse 4, and I’m about to get the Harman Kardon Go + play 3 and then I’m all set I don’t need anymore…maybe
The dust proof speaker usually have thick fabric that protect outside part (woofer) of the speaker from dust. If it only have waterproof rating, then usually it have metal/plastic grill that dust can still enter the outside part (woofer) of the speaker like partybox or soundcore motion+. That's based on my speaker collection that have ipx7,ipx4 and ip68.
yeah when you open up these ipx7 speakers after giving them a soaking they are still full of water that takes time to dry out. but the drivers are not damaged by it. dustproof is another matter, you cant have any ingress.
Hey Alan, love your reviews. I had a question about the soundcore motion boom I own. I 've had it for for 3 years now, and in the last month I have noticed that the left driver distorts when outputting bass. I have tried everything, from changing the EQ, resetting it, even taking apart and seeing if there is dust accumulated but nothing helped. Also the passive radiator in that side seems to be working normally. Do you know if there is anything I can do to fix it or do I have to purchase a new one. I have found unofficial drivers with the same specifications on AliExpress, but I don't know if replacing them is a safe bet. Thanks
replacing should be straightforward if you know what you are doing. sounds like simple wear and tear which is going to happen for a heavily used cheap speaker like these.
Well, does pairing the boom 2 with another boom 2 make it a sub woofer though? Can someone answer answer this important question for new speaker lovers like myself. I want to buy two of them if they do
nope! pairing two does not give you deeper bass BUT pairing two will go louder so at equivalent loudness two will sound as though they go deeper simply because of more bass boost at lower volume steps.
@@vishakhsanthpal3604 i would say probably Encore still has alot of bass. But you can't forget that it is ported vs sealed aka uses passive radiators speakers so less pressure abit less impact. But advantage is bass was becomes crystal clean.

Good PR design calls for the PRs to be able to move twice the volume of air that the driver can move. Considering the size of the racetrack woofer in the X20, those PRs seem to be cutting it a bit close...
Alan, would be really interested in a comparison between the Motion 300 and the Motion +, I still believe the Motion + has the slight edge? Could also include Bose soundlink flex and Tribit Stormbox flow to beef up the party.

the onyx series doesnt go loud so x20 for volume would destroy the o5 but bass yes at lower volumes it would be a different story. o5 warmer overall too.

Congratulations on your explanations, you are one of the few who knows, that the deep basses are not everything in music, but the quality, fullness and roundness, and above all a speaker that does not tire your ear after 10 minutes, are the most important thing. I watched the video until the end, and I'm of your idea too, I won't try the Sony ult 7 because maybe I'd be disappointed of having spent 400 euros and then having to make the return.!But I can guarantee you one thing, if you can find the motion to get a Sony ult 1, it's stunning! Sound quality is the best ever heard on a bottle-sized speaker. You will be satisfied. And in my opinion even the ult 7 will not be less, however it costs too much. Any thoughts on the bose soundlink max? It's like the xtreme version of the flex😂😂 they say deep bass and ip67, even tho the aux and the usb c are without a cover😮 No frequency response details or wattage, it's already avilable to pre-order.. looks nice as well.

Would love to see a review of Philips tas7807b. Listened to it locally and was quite amazed with its sound! Not loud, but very balanced with tons of deep bass.

Typically *RMS* speakers are rated at half the Peak Power, so if they say they are rated at *250W peak,* then they are probably rated at *125W RMS,* not 200W RMS. The power output of the *W-King X20* is identical to the _TRONSMART BANG MAX_ which generously states in the Amazon listing that it is *130W* but it doesn't say it is RMS or Peak but I will guess it’s *RMS,* so the W-King is a bit misleading.
To be fair they can all be taken with a pinch of salt in terms of watts rating.
I wasn't familiar with "W-king" until recently, (living under a rock) so got my hands on the ~W-king D9-1 and I've decided its a brand worth investing my time in. I'm in process of getting the t9 pro , but after the that , its gotta be the W-king X20! and I've noticed with each release since the W-king "D9-1" model they've gotten better as a brand and each speaker release has gotten better. thanks for doing what you do! your videos couldn't keep me more interested in the process! from product review ,to comparisons ,personal opinion, pricing ,tuning, apps, and of course sound tests! ha. ill be seeking this next for sure.

I have both. Not much of a comparison. X20 way more base way more loudness. With EQ tuning just as clear as Tribit.

To anyone who’s recently purchased the X20, don’t install the firmware update. When I first got mine, I played around with the 10 band EQ & had it sounding really good, with crystal clear mids & smooth sounding highs.
Mind you, this was at near max levels. I installed the update & it just didn’t sound the same. It had a dull, flat, & almost muddy sound, in comparison before the update.
Same phone, same music, same music app, same EQ as before. Am I the only one that’s experienced this?

Can you tell me if the W-King X20 has latency in its AUX IN, if you connect a musical instrument there, is it possible to play the instrument connected to the AUX IN, without latency? I know that this model already has a LINE IN for Guitar, but I would like to see if the AUX IN works without latency. I've already tried it on JBL and it doesn't work, JBL's AUX IN has a lot of latency and it's impossible to use it to play an instrument.

Whelp, I watched this video again and went and bought one of these things but not for music actually. I have been looking for a battery powered bass practice amp and pretty much everything I am finding is just a guitar practice amp rebranded for bass. This seems to go down to 40 hz sorta so I am hoping this can handle a 4 string decently and at least maybe be able to hear the low B on a 6 string enough for practice. This thing is heavy but it would be a LOT easier to lug around than my old 50 Lbs Hartke practice amp and battery powered as well.
Watching the results of their "10 band EQ" it almost seems like maybe the DSP only really has a 5 band and they are combining sliders behind the scenes in the app...
There are two updates released for the soundcore Boom2 recently (3.11), which changes a lot. The overall experience is much better now than before. Can You guess or say what was improoved without reading release notes? I'm verry excited 😁
Its impossible to keep up with soundcore eq updates. They treat us all as beta testers.

@@alanrossreviews OK, i think you didn't noticed it... The Boom 2 had bass issues at low volume, 30% and lower, especialy with bass heavy EDM. The bass came and went uncontrolled...The Boost Upgraded and the old Motion Boom, they have the same problem. But for the Boom2 it's finally fixed and you can also use it for listening at low levels now 👍

Alan, your settings on the SC Boom gave it a clear warm sound with an emphasis on deep bass. That’s what I’m looking to do on the WKing , make it clearer but have that warm deep bass sound…. Basically make it sound better than the JBL BBx 3. In all the videos I watched the WKing x20 always sounded a little muffled/ muddy compared to the JBL BBx3. But, regardless let me know if you can set the EQ to assist with this and what your settings would be…Thanks!
Sonova beach... I googled W-King X20 to check the price and nothing showed up. Had to do much digging then I found out it is called the D20 here in thailand (comes with mics and all that bs) and cheapest price here is around 210 usd after conversion. Alan, can you come up with an eq to try flatten the response? You reckon that is possible with the built in eq? Could the eq get you within 2 or 3db max?
im not sure, when i saw how the bands worked i didnt want to try it 😝 seems you can stick a lot of the highs back just by selecting a single slider though. another day i will try but i have things I want to get through first.

Hello alan my wking x10 lights doesn’t go off even after turning it off, is there any possible fix? It works and plays normal but the lights don’t go off and it drains the battery please how do i fix it

The crossover issue with the midrange and tweeter is due to them forgetting to add an inductor for the mid, since the only thing crossing over the mid to the tweeter is a 2.2uF capacitor
@@pixelreflectorpro do we know what type of crossover was used? I do fear all these cheap 3 ways use active on sub and passive on woofer/tweeter. They never get it right. They might as well not even bother crossing the mids and highs as the tweeter always seems compromised.

@@pixelreflectorpro i think part of the issue here is that its using stereo enhancing so it's hard to tell whats actually happening here from a straight near field sweep. However listening to it you can clearly hear issues between mids and tweeter. I wish they would provide a clean mode to get rid of the issues.

i get a few pennies but its not much. on average they say 1 million views get you $1000 so you can see how little a few thousand views gets you. this is why when channels grow big enough that they think they want to do it full time they are so tempted to become shills just to get some money in.

This pretty cool. If I recall correctly W-King H10 was quite a beast compared to the BB3 at maximum volume as well. So its neat that with this X20 W-King was able to follow suit on that. It's always more interesting when you review speakers outside of JBL and Sony - being well established you don't expect any surprises from those brands (which I suppose is why many seem to go for them).

Thanks for another wonderful show. The dB readings you give are a lot more informative than the watts ratings, there are some products beginning to emerge where their specs show max dB and hopefully will be the way forward. Soul? You have your soul, we have our soul 😂
what we really want is a true rms and true peak (which is not max) but its just one measure and nobody bothers with standards anymore so its all meaningless really. one reason why i do my own measurements to see how loud in the real world it goes with some sort of standardised method across speakers.

I never understood the logic behind IPX ratings. Meaning if a speaker is rated waterproof then shouldn’t that automatically mean it’s dust proof too?
The dust proof speaker usually have thick fabric that protect outside part (woofer) of the speaker from dust.
If it only have waterproof rating, then usually it have metal/plastic grill that dust can still enter the outside part (woofer) of the speaker like partybox or soundcore motion+.
That's based on my speaker collection that have ipx7,ipx4 and ip68.
yeah when you open up these ipx7 speakers after giving them a soaking they are still full of water that takes time to dry out. but the drivers are not damaged by it. dustproof is another matter, you cant have any ingress.

Hey Alan, love your reviews. I had a question about the soundcore motion boom I own. I 've had it for for 3 years now, and in the last month I have noticed that the left driver distorts when outputting bass. I have tried everything, from changing the EQ, resetting it, even taking apart and seeing if there is dust accumulated but nothing helped. Also the passive radiator in that side seems to be working normally. Do you know if there is anything I can do to fix it or do I have to purchase a new one. I have found unofficial drivers with the same specifications on AliExpress, but I don't know if replacing them is a safe bet. Thanks
replacing should be straightforward if you know what you are doing. sounds like simple wear and tear which is going to happen for a heavily used cheap speaker like these.

Well, does pairing the boom 2 with another boom 2 make it a sub woofer though? Can someone answer answer this important question for new speaker lovers like myself. I want to buy two of them if they do
nope! pairing two does not give you deeper bass BUT pairing two will go louder so at equivalent loudness two will sound as though they go deeper simply because of more bass boost at lower volume steps.

Good PR design calls for the PRs to be able to move twice the volume of air that the driver can move. Considering the size of the racetrack woofer in the X20, those PRs seem to be cutting it a bit close...
the rear one is stiff af and doesnt seem to be doing much at all.

the onyx series doesnt go loud so x20 for volume would destroy the o5 but bass yes at lower volumes it would be a different story. o5 warmer overall too.

Congratulations on your explanations, you are one of the few who knows, that the deep basses are not everything in music, but the quality, fullness and roundness, and above all a speaker that does not tire your ear after 10 minutes, are the most important thing. I watched the video until the end, and I'm of your idea too, I won't try the Sony ult 7 because maybe I'd be disappointed of having spent 400 euros and then having to make the return.!But I can guarantee you one thing, if you can find the motion to get a Sony ult 1, it's stunning! Sound quality is the best ever heard on a bottle-sized speaker. You will be satisfied. And in my opinion even the ult 7 will not be less, however it costs too much.

I have 2 one for bass heavy music and 1 for all my other stuff 50s 60s 70s rock n roll blues ... green grass and nighties by the outlaws sounds fn awesome those screaming guitars and bass it is badass and I now do not regret returning the bb3 wifi one bit and got that on sale for 399.99 during black friday this is so simple to use plus this summer I can bring my iniu portable 26mah charger and fast charge this speaker on the go
listening to some peoples description of the x20 i wonder if there is a lot of variance which would make sharing an eq misleading 🤷♂️
@@alanrossreviews that def could be I guess ya never know ya hope for quality across the board in their production but i do think they killed it with the unit I got. Absolutely love it but was one update too just last week to my ears and not changing anything in the app as to how I had it set I'd swear it has gotten a tad bit deeper bass even but at end of everyday I'm just a music junkie mailman out workin in the fn rain today ahahahaga but alan as usual man you do a phenomenal job ... also always wish you the best and thank you for makin my shitty day in the rain much more enjoyable... my selfish side would love to see ya really fine tune it to your liking and then same wuth the lil 3 band in jbl app to see amd hear what's what on your graphs but again that's just me bein a selfish bastard ahahahahahaha
