For those wondering about how it is when there’s traffic on the N1. It’s still quicker to drive. But it’s nicer to be on the train than balancing clutches on the N1.

As a Gautrain user, I found this hilarious. Firstly, it was operated way before 2011. We had the Gautrain during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Construction was years and years before.
The first week of the train, many people were given fines for eating, drinking and even chewing gum onboard the Gautrain so that guard at the turnstile thingy telling you to leave the coffee behind was doing it for your own good. They do sometimes patrol onboard while the train is moving and if they'd caught you eating the doughnuts, you would have been fined. Cleanliness is a big deal for the Gautrain.
To sort the no Uber problem at some stations, I just take the Gautrain bus and hop off at a convenient spot then request. It's really cheap and can be anything from R7 to around R20 if you took the train beforehand (you use the same card for bus payment).

So many pros and cons. I like the one-seat approach of a car compared to taking the 🚄. With the train, you got onto Uber 1, then train, then perhaps a Gaubus at the end - just too much movement, especially if you’ve got a bit of luggage with you.

That would’ve consumed no petrol, but also isn’t a realistic car for most people to own. The value of that Golf was like R130k. That’s reasonable.

As Gautrain commuter, Sam didn’t represent us well. Commuters know the rules that No eating, No drinking in the train, why waste time waiting for an order. Second why Uber instead of using a Gautrain bus cause is cheaper if you are from train and it moves immediately after the train has dropped off passengers . Sam 🚩🚩🚩😂
