@@Livinginsatvnice video, but morocco has the fastest train in Africa and soon to follow by Egypt.
@@LivinginsatvThis is the famous _"Voortrekker"_ monument, right? 9:09
I'm from Germany, but I have South African ancestry. My surname is Erasmus.
Greetings from Heidelberg _(I know SA has a Heidelberger too, if they didn't change the name yet)._
Thank you. I enjoyed your Gautrain "adventure". I live in Jozi and have never been on it! You've motivated me to take the Gautrain to Pretoria just for the experience (I normally drive).
Go for it! You will save lots of money if you buy the monthly pass.
@@LivinginsatvWhere exactly do you live?
Just imagine how awesome it would be if all the cities and towns in the country were connected with trains like this 🥹.
Cape Town definitely needs one, especially to and from the airport. Durban too. But it depends on economics( feasibility).
Well population is a factor we really need a rail system like this in major cities but not in small towns , because there is already taxis operate and you know what they do when completion comes arround
SA real needs to be connected like UK 🇬🇧
@@EbagamAfrica Gautrein is basically kind of an expansion of Metrorail Gauteng.
So for Cape Town they need to fix the existing rail system , get the new Trains on the tracks , make it safe and expand it including to places like Airport and also connect other lines like Chris Hani Station maybe needs to be connected to Eersterivier Station.
@@FreddyDreams Not really, Gautrain was built from scratch, on it's own new dedicated tracks, tunnels, stations, parkings and buses. So it's not reliant on Metrorail at all. It costs more but modern and convenient.
We need to get Gautrain in all towns around Gauteng. Gauteng is already hard to travel around in, this would be very convenient.
It was supposed to have been done twenty odd years ago.
@@florencediallo8340 The Metroblitz was just as fast: the problem was fitting it in with slower traffic.
Please do a review on the new prasa trains, from park station to Naledi Soweto.
On it
The Gautrain is awesome. I felt like I was in the UK for a while ,proudly South African ❤🇿🇦
We need a rail system like this connecting Joburg, Cape Town and Durban. I have done it once by bus and many times by air. If there was something like this I would use it instead of air.
Imagine the possibilities. 🇿🇦🏆🚆✔️
it must go to Polokoane, Nelspruit, durban, ct.
There’s a feasibility study and proposal that government (transport department) put together for a speed train between Johannesburg and Durban…I remember reading about it, my sister is a civil engineer in Pretoria and she was doing some research or other . Think it was commissioned by Mbeki’s administration and Zuma tried to revive it. In time it will happen
Hopefully we will be safe traveling on the Gautrain during our visit to Johannesburg in October
The train is very safe and reliable (just check the operating hours because they don't run 24hours and have humans "driving" them). In some stations there are conflicts between Uber and metered cab drivers - so at Park Station and Centurion, it's hard to request an Uber outside.
@@jacksonm.6549We plan to take the Gautrain from OR Tambo Airport to Rosebank Station and then walk to our hotel
Thanks for loving South Africa it’s a beautiful country
It is our way of life. One love 🇿🇦!!
David, thank you for video
Always a pleasure. Anything else you would like to know let us know.
Favorite mode of transportation in Johannesburg ❤ fast, safe, affordable and clean clean
Couldn't agree more!🇿🇦✔️🏆👌
Nice video. I wonder when they will start the expansion to Fourways and other areas.
Great question
Possibly 2026
I love your content. Is there anyone who does this sort of content with regards to Cape Town?
i would love to see my city explored like this 😊
We will do that in 2024
The title is misleading. The Gautrain is not a bullet train.
In an african continent point of view it is. And these ones are speed limited. There is no need to go more than 160kms per hour. Maybe one day if they extend the project to other provinces beyond Gauteng.🇿🇦🏆✔️
Jozi north of CBD didn't have rail infrastructure so Gautrein is to give it infrastructure.
It's also part of the overall rail in Gauteng along with Metrorail that's why Park Station & Pretoria Station are interchange stations with Metrorail.
It needs to expand and similar projects in other cities are also needed.
They are on their way there. I was actually surprised with the upgrades being done on the metro rail stations. We will have lots of great news until the end of the year.
@@Livinginsatv I've never been on it ,don't live in Jozi ,but think it's awesome.
Would love to see you do more video's on SA's transit including he feeder busses ,BRT and the likes seeing it does fit in your content.
Keep up the good work
very smart, clean and modern... not dissimilar to the UK setup (although probably a lot newer). In the UK you can get to just about every city, town or village by train.... they are convenient but are cheap... they do have problems, especially with the unions constantly going on strike... I take it this trip was done out of peak time as the carriages were empty... how affordable is this for the average person.. how much would that same journey cost by 'mini bus taxi'?
The "spaceship" is Unisa ( University of SA ) the largest open distance learning institution in Africa and in certain instances in the world. Also in amount of correspondening students in the world
I lived in Johanesburg in 2017 , never got chance to ride in this train. just got memories refreshed after watching this. Many times I used car to pretoria but never got chance to sit in this train
It is a very nice ride.
Keep up the content.
If you talk of African bullet train, doesn't Morocco hold that record?
It does that's why he wrote second fastest train in the title
They look very similar to the class 377 trains because they are part of the electrostar family
It looks good railway
I an more than a conqueror through christ my lord
Good fire trailer
Nice day
Imagine if the lines were extended to Cairo... Not gonna happen but it will be cool!
Is it recommended for tourists?
A high speed train (or Bullet train) is classified as 250km/h or higher. Calling Gautrain a bullet train is pure click bait. Morocco has a proper high speed rail which will be joined by Egypt's new system shortly.
I appreciate your coverage of rail as South Africa needs more positive news but call it for what it is.
Can the new prasa trains travel at the same speed as the gautrain? Is it the same model different branding?
Technically, yes, both trains have cruise controls, which means they can travel at a much higher speed
Those are not bullet or high speed trains.
I like to use the Gagarin between marlboro and Hatfield it takes 20 minutes only the train usually travel between 200 and 260 it was regulated initially it was tipped to do 360 but the accidents that were happening in Asia scared them off, so in that sense it is a bullet train.
It is a speed train, not bullet train. Takes 15 minutes to travel a 1 hour drive journey
@@thandisilec835 The definition of High-speed rail are trains that are capable of speeds of 250k/h and above (on newly built lines).
@@JohnHaze4666 What accidents happened in Asia? Japan hasn't had an accident since the Shinkansen opened where as China only has two tas fare as I know. The Gautrain was never capable of speeds over 160 k/h since its using the standard Bombardier Electrostar trains found in Europe.
@@MichaelDavids_gplus no arguments with people who don't understand what they are talking about, go back in history before improvement and lots of adjustments were made for the high speed trains to be where they are now and stop arguing for the sake of being relevant.
Technically, if it's under 200km/h it's not high speed.
The trains are never full 😮
Because I don't do peak hours😄
They are full in peak hours, by the way each trip it's 5-15minutes apart
You like mango
If you like you buy and peel mango in your home nice day
I am fear
I am sorry trobel your time for me 😢
The best high speed train in Africa is in Morocco.
Thank you.
Nigerians being petty😂😂
@@nkosinathisibiya600 At least, learn to state facts. You are made to believe SA has all the best things in Africa which is completely incorrect. I just prove the title of this video wrong and you are feeling weighed down by it.
😅😅😅stop it, you know how sensitive and personal this ppl are@@nkosinathisibiya600
@@youme1414 prove what that SA is better than every country in Africa man we should be competing with Egypt not a failed state😂 SA has it flaws but it still way better here than everywhere i could be in Africa
@@nkosinathisibiya600 Morocco has the best high speed railway in Africa. I can't believe a small country like that is giving SA headache. Jeez! Nigeria is really the true giant of Africa not SA.
