Even though I reply 6 years later, look at pindale elementary school in enterprise Alabama’s vortex it is very quiet Oh yeah at fire station 1 there is a rusty model 2 over there
Hmm, that's kinda sad Rushville didn't test...I guess I was really lucky then. Their website says it's supposed to be weekly as long as it's above 32 degrees, but then again in my video it was snowing lol. There are a couple Custer sirens not in Rush County though. You might be luckier with them.
Back when Whelen first came out with the siren in the late 80's, there was a problem with the rotator gear braking on the sirens. Due to the mass production and high demand, instead of fixing the problem, they added the Fin. If there was ever a tornado, the wind would blow the siren in whatever direction, letting those who were in the direction, know of the tornado.
Great Catch 4J25! That is unusually quiet for a Whelen.
Why thank you.

We may try the one in Dunreith next summer or Winter Break. We've had good luck with Henry County.
Do you mind if i use this for a tornado siren compilation i will give credit.
I would like to use this audio for a tornado game I am making, do I have permission?
I was telling August how bad it was that the Custar didn't test.
And are you not uploading the Model B?
what Model B?
It seems like my video made this thing seem louder than your video did. Nonetheless, great video as always!
the fin makes it a “super Whelen”.
Why do some Vortex’s have the fin on the back?
Aerodynamics in the wind

@@sjake786you mean breaking(you forgot to type the letter e)
That’s a quiet tornado siren
You may call it quiet, imagine if you yourself had your ears right next to it while it was going off
if u know, how long this siren had been in this place?
No idea, probably late 80's or 90's.
'95 or onward. This one looks like a late 90s version with its rotor block design.
@@NEOhioTrainFan yep, you can also tell by the controller, it is a Non Voice Digital ESC-864
It's so quiet, I feel like it's a vortex r3.
Probably an R4, but one speaker driver was blown
@@HSETMmaybe the top speaker or the bottom speaker? not the middle top or bottom middle.
