One extra thing when setting your eye relief, if your gun is used in cold weather where you may have a heavy jacket on or a backpack w thick shoulder straps, put those items on! When tracking deer in the Northeast ,target acquisition is HUGE and can make the difference in getting a shot off or sitting there trying to even find the deer in a halo ring in the scope. Great video!
Ryan and Mark make some fantastic videos. Ryan is the serious dude and Mark is the funny dude. I look forward to all their videos. I bet that after filming, these guys are cracking up laughing. The THP guys make some fantastic videos too. The THP videos are unlike anything on the web. More like a reality hunting show. The first THP video I watched I saw a dude with long hair shooting turkeys. I thought, WTH???. I watched a few more THP videos and thought this was great, unique content. I've binged on all the Deer Tour videos and started on the turkey videos. I'm an old dude with zero hair and all Vortex glass. I live in New Mexico and drew a MZ elk tag and a rifle deer tag this year. I'm going to use the tactics I've learned from the THP videos on my hunts this fall. Great job Vortex and the THP gangsters !!!
One thing he left out. When securing the ring bases, push the base as far forward as possible on the Picatinny rails as you tighten the screws. This is to prevent walking of base due to recoil. Is it important? Don’t know, I’m not an expert. But we were taught this in the military and used harder recoiling weapon systems.
Was going to mention this exact thing about the ring bases. For myself I know he touched a little on it but I always double check the reticle being level by using a plumb bob. An error may not be noticeable when sighting in at 100 yds but as the distance grows it can become very noticeable.
Used to work at a shooting range. Had a guy come in once that had bass pro mount a scope for him and they had completely tightened one side of the ring all the way on the back and the other side on the front. Couldnt hit the broad side of a barn at 50 yards until i stood directly behind him while he shot and you could see how bad the scope was canted. Wild stuff
I own many Vortex products, great equipment for the price point. Vortex needs to create an image stabilized binocular to compete with Sig's product. Every person that has the Sig Zulu's says they are a game changer for hunting.
Love vortex. I have a pair of diamond back 10×42s. Not even the HDs. But I can't tell the difference between the HD and the older ones that I have. They are very clear picture wise. But I will say, they need better bino harness'. 😅😅 great video
This is also great I love Vortex I am a gunsmith. You also need to look into the lapping your scope. If you have two rings, they could be off. If you have a solid piece, you’re in better shape, but you still need to fit it to the scope and your eye.
@@robo1210this is not true. Still should be lapped out. If they are showing the PROPER way of mounting a scope. Two piece rings are never exactly aligned
Never gonna waste money on a Vortex again. 2 out of 3 purchases were replaced because of poor quality manufacturing and QC. 1 set of scope mounts replaced because of….. poor manufacturing and QC. I’ve shot 100,000s of rounds training for competitive shooting, and tens of thousands for hunting. Using thread locker/lock tight nulls torque specs, unless there is an engineering protocol for using it…. Love THP ❤ Keep up the real world hunting features and information 😎
I have and like Vortex products, but I really wish that they would stop having them made in China. I gotta say that I have never seen a picatinny rail put on a bolt action rifle.
Most modern decent ($100+) set of rings are manufactured a lot better than they use to be. So most modern reputable manufactures you don't need to lap.
@@craigkowalczyk3516 a gunsmith worth a damn this day and age will tell you there's no need. If they say they do go somewhere else. Go ask all the prs, nhl, f class pros if they do it or not. I guarantee you over 90% of them will say don't.
I disagree COMPLETELY!!! If they did that they'd loose a Big section of their niche! Not everyone bow hunts exclusively and there's a Lot of public land that is a waste of time basically with a bow!

If you don’t watch the Vortex Nation Podcast you should. Ryan, Mark, and the crew are a hoot to listen to and a wealth of knowledge.

Happy to see some rifle content. I’d love to see more. THP isn’t a bow hunting channel, it’s a public ground hunting channel.
Yes please
Best mounting video yet. I like the in depth video
Heck yeah THP! Also seeing Samong Outdoors there too made me happy! Great videos and love the Vortex guys!
@@SpheresOfMadness85 b mac also had a cameo appearance
Very helpful video. Thanks for sharing!
We want to see all the content you guys put out no matter what it is. Thanks for the content and time yall put into things
Great video. Big fan of Ryan and all of Vortex!

What is the level that has a bungie chord on it for the picatinny rail ? Where do you get it from ?
Thanks.
Great video.
Love the life lesson here. Won’t be doing the eyeology any more. Thanks boys!!!
Hope y’all got a hold of Jake’s 7400 and put some medium or low rings on it. Those high ring mounts are pretty goofy and easy to get off zero
The ol see through mounts. 😆 They were in many years ago. I had a couple rifles with them. The mounts have long been switched out.

I like to use alittle bow wax on any fasteners on a bow, rest and sight bolts and including arrow tips and scope rings… what I was always taught 🤷🏻♂️
I also hone the ring bores in-line, this takes out any base & rings manufacturing misalignment.
Muckenhirn is just a wealth of knowledge, when he's talking gun's you should listen. My two favorites together, THP and Vortex
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

Depends on the rings as well.. these are vortex pro series which are made by seekins are very precise so lapping isn’t as neccesssry.

Samong in THP video!!!!!!
I like the gun videos! I hunt with any legal weapon
The reticle projection, ... whoa. I like that being a carpenter with a Lazer T square. That's the cats ass
Ryan is the goat!
Vortex is another great Wisconsin based company
I love the plumb bob method, works great for me.
Image stabilization and a better BDX on FFP systems!
I love Vortex.
That's a brass tacks method there! Hadn't tried the reverse osmosis thingy yet...😂😅
Someone tell me what kind of rifle that is Weatherby Vanguard?😊

Right on
"...sorry Doug." As a dad who figures stuff out, I feel your pain.🙂
I’m very similar to Zack. I overthink things like this & make it way harder than it needs to be
No pic rail for me on a bolt gun, personal preference perhaps.
Does Vortex void any warranty if you lap their rings?
Can’t answer that question for sure but the vortex pro series are made by seekins and are very precise. Typically don’t need any lapping.
I hope he’s doing Ted’s scope also 😂😂😂😂😂
I see ryan from vortex and i click on the video . Simple.
Does he have an OF?
Can you do a Collab with Kendall Gray, pleeeeeease?

Tapping on the turrets seems like a bad idea.
He been doing it for a while and has done thousands so im pretty sure he aint messing nothing up.
The optic should always be level to the action, not the shooter.
Henry is this years mostert. 25 catches and too many tds to count
Please don’t ever let that seek one dude be on your channel again! Nobody wants to see somebody that hunts pet deer in peoples neighborhoods 😂
Every like equals every box of ammunition spent 👇

That’s your opinion. Yes their style of hunting is different than THP, but they still share the love of hunting and are entertaining.
Golf sucks.
Who cares if it is THP or Seek... you both are bow hunters... ffs.
