I am looking forward to seeing the new grading system on the D5 put to use too. Good call on the Yellow Jackets, I’d of dragged the tree across the property to make sure 😂. I also have NO use for the dead trees either 👍🏻

That was great timing when you hit that yellow jacket nest to when I called you. That was a challenging job to learn mulching on but it was fun and hopefully I can get a whole lot experience with it this fall and winter. It was great to meet you in person and get to know you better. Thanks again!

Thank you Lee. When you called I was just about to step out of the machine right in to those yellow jackets. Glad I saw them swarming, ouch that would have been bad. That was definitely a tough place to learn how to mulch and you did a great job with it. It was great to meet you and your family as well. Hope you have a lot of work for the 308 going forward. If I can help you anyway just holler.

I do most all my jobs just like you. By myself. But I have learned that paying someone on clearing jobss is 100% worth it. Either you drive the excavator and they cut with the saw. Or the other way around. Saves so much time and way less breaking saws and what not. I've done that my fair share of times also. With someone picking up the trees to get the bind off and you cutting. You will do twice the work in a day. Im hard headed and try to do it all myself. But I finally saw the light. haha Great channel. Enjoy your videos.

Glad the 313 is working out for you. It's nice having the power you need to get those trees down. I can do small stuff, but nothing the size you're working on. I have a root ripper/stumper, whatever you want to call it. That thing makes it way easier to take down a tree. It's a little bit of a disadvantage to clean up the ground after the tree is down, but I love it. Glad the bees didn't get you.

Was wondering if your daily rate has gone up with the bigger excavator? Bigger equipment means able to get more work done faster but also means more logistics getting the equipment to the job. Previously it seemed you were able to get an excavator and skidsteer in one trip. It all depends on what equipment you need on the job I guess. What I’m trying to say is if it was still the 308 on this job you wouldn’t be as far along so is the customer getting more work done at the same rate? Sorry if this is confusing

    • @tristardiggin
      @tristardiggin  Рік тому +1

That wasn't confusing, you are right. Daily rate increases with the size of equipment. You can definitely get more done as well as increased cost in moving equipment. I still haul the 304 excavator and the skidsteer on one trailer when needed. That makes a great combo to have in one trip...

Me being selfish and focusing on my wants and not focusing on us once GOD put it on my heart and I change my ways seems like everything fell into place and we have the best relationship and friendship you could ask for. Lol now far as buying equipment she just laughs and shakes her head not surprised when I come home with a deal🤣…. I’ve got another question what would be a good price on a ram 5500 and mileage on one too look for I want one just like yours but with the floor shifter 4x4 it’s always been my dream work truck for my side business for hauling my equipment so I won’t half to use my tandem all the time.. But haven’t I been around them much and not sure what to look for as things that need replacing or flaws and what is to many miles on them cause seems like all ones I look at have nearly 200k on them . Thank you sir for the awesome channel I been trying to watch all the older videos to get caught up! God bless!

That is great that yall have that relationship now. When we put God first a lot of things can change.
I have lost track of the prices on the Ram 5500s. Anything with around 100k miles would likely be upper 40k to mid 50k I would imagine. 200k miles is getting up there pretty good but still has a lot of life if it was taken care of and maintained. Mine currently has around 113k miles on it and it still runs and drives great. If you find something you could have a Diesel mechanic check it out good. They will charge something for checking it out but they know what to look for so that you don't get a bad deal.

@@tristardiggin I think he's tired of the chainsaw work 😂 He could always get into foundation work 🤣 but he said he didn't think he wanted to do foundations. If you're going to do clearing jobs you better keep your chains sharp or it's going to be a long hot day.

Thanks for watching. I generally edit the volume down to around 40%. Will see about getting it down a little more...

Yup, and it's a doozy! I sold the 308 this past week and bought the 313 a few weeks ago...

Man you should have listened to your gut. It would have saved you some money. 😂. That just wasn’t a great day for equipment. Sorry that happened. I’m having to buy new stuff as well. Media mod went out and my wire for my wireless mic went out also. It will be awhile for the media mod. But the wireless microphone will be back this week. Glad you had a break at the lake.

    Hello,
Would you be willing to go into the business side of things?
    - How to get started from zero
    - How to find jobs
    - How to bid on jobs/what to charge
    - How to write contracts
    - If doing it just as a hobby is a viable option
I understand talking money is sensitive, I just want to learn
    Thanks :)
