    Wow.... I'm speechless about this brush... been on the market looking for a decent airbrush to paint my soon to be new 40k miniature army and all their fine details and of decent quality without breaking the bank. the fact that even a professional airbrushing artist like yourself is impressed by this really says alot! (by the way, up til now, i never knew that airbrushing was something artist used and thought only us model builders used them. fascinating!). Thank you so very much for this video! this REALLY helped a new airbrusher like me who hasnt touched an airbrush since he was a kid, a great deal in deciding what airbrush ill get.

      Honorgard, it is a good brush for the price. It is way better than a harbor freight airbrush but not quite as good as an eclipse. If your budget allows, the eclipse is the iwata standard. It is the brush I started with and still use over 20 years later. If not, the neo is a good alternative. Best of luck. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching.

    I enjoyed your video and while I agree with you for the most part about the trigger stop on airbrushes, for me it’s a nice feature because of the arthritis in my hands and fingers. I can set it where I need it to be and once I pull the trigger to the stop, my fingers and hand relax a lot more making it easier for me. Now, that’s what works for me and why I like that feature. I don’t always use it, but it’s nice to have it when necessary.

      @@gfyracing7632 GFY, yes tankless will generate a lot of moisture. My advice is get the 2 gallon Fortress or if space or budget is an issue get the 1 gallon. Now...as far as your clogging goes. Start with just reducer make sure is is spaying correctly then add on drop of paint, mix and spray. Keep adding drops Untill it starts to give you problems then add a few drops of reducer. Most of my mixes are about 50 50. Another words make sure your paint is thin enough. The hot air from your compressor will also cause tip dry which also may be causing the problem. Hope this helps.

    Nice review.
    I bought the HP-CP High performance plus and after one use to test, the nozzle thread is damaged. When I opened the sealed box, the airbrush had paint residue in the cup and on the needle. I had to clean it including removing the nozzle after my first run. After removing the nozzle I noticed red residue on the thread what looked like rust, but after seeing your video, it might have been a disintegrated o-ring. After cleaning I put every thing together and as you mentioned I didn’t over tighten the nozzle, but on my second use, the liquid in the cup won’t spray out. It turns out the thread on the nozzle is split. 🙁 My first Iwata and it’s not a pleasant experience. The item is back to the distributor for warranty assessment, but I’m sure they’ll say it’s my fault and will need to buy a new nozzle.
    Sorry for my rant. Looking forward to more of your videos.

    Got a Pasche compressor, a braided hose, and all I need now is to go back to hobby lobby because apparently I left the 4011 and 4012 in the basket. Stupid me eh?
    While i was there, I bought about 10 colors of rit dye. Im gonna try them on guitars. Wish me luck... because Im clueless. I havent even opened the boxes yet.

      D.J., Awesome! I have some higher end brushes but I absolutely love my neo. I wouldn't use the 4030 with the candy's. Createx now recommends the 4050 UVLS clears. 4030 can "shock" the candy and cause it to gel. If you use it, make sure you mix it in a cup and let it sit for around ten minutes. If it is still liquid with no lumps you should be good to go. Also, Createx recommends the 4011 reducer, now I used the 4012 for years but it contains acetone. Createx has actually stopped producing it but they are still selling whatever is in the pipeline. I use the 4011 exclusively and I use the 4012 for cleaning. So you like guitars? I play as well and I am restoring, painting and airbrushing a guitar as well. Also, I have videos on the reducers, UVLS clears and the 4030 and how to clean an airbrush. If you get a chance check them out and good luck, you'll do great. Thanks for watching.

    Great honest review! Just got this as a present. In your opinion, would it be wise to order a replacement needle and nozzle? I want to use this airbrush to prime and lacquer coat my models. Do you think it's good enough to handle both jobs with proper care? Thanks! New sub!

    • @TheAirbrushGarage
      @TheAirbrushGarage  2 роки тому

      Kenshin73, I always have a replacement needle and nozzle on hand. Things happen. This way you don't have stop your project and wait for a couple of day until you get a replacement. Now as far as primer and lacquers keep in mind this is a .35 so as long as they are thin enough you should be fine. But...When I think primer I think thicker. If that is the case a .5 needle may work better for such an application. But again...thin enough I think youl be fine. Thanks for the question, subscribing and watching.

      @@TheAirbrushGarage thanks for the quick reply! That's exactly the way I was leaning, thanks for the push. On the primer front, I mostly use vallejo. Water based acrylic, so that's no problem. For the clear coat, I use pledge revive it. It works wonders in layers, and hot water makes the cleaning a breeze. Thanks again for the input, replacement parts are on the way! Cheers!!!👍

      @TheAirbrushGarage  2 роки тому

      Kao, I am using a Fortress 2 gallon. I have a video review on that if your interested. I spray at around 27 psi for most things. You should not need that kind of pressure. Make sure your paint is thin enough. Start with just reducer. If that doesn't work. You have a blockage in the nozzle. Also, make sure your regulator on you compressor is working properly. Let me know how you make out.

    What is your opinion on this Iwata Neo vs the Paasche VL?
    I was considering the Neo for ‘fine’ work, and the VL for ‘medium-fine’.
    I purchased the Paasche VL about forty years ago, but just started using it three years ago.
    I also have a Paasche H that I use for “non-precision” painting , such as first-layer primer.
    I’m ashamed to say that the H sat in my paint-supply chest for some forty years, un-used 🥸
    Yeah, I was out of modeling for far far too long, but I’m back in with a vengeance..

    • @TheAirbrushGarage
      @TheAirbrushGarage  3 роки тому

      Ernest, I started with a Paashe VL 20 Years ago and really liked it. But I haven't used a siphon feed in a long time. What I can say is that if you are looking for a more detailed oriented gravity fef brush you can't go wrong with a iwata neo or an Eclipse for the money. Thanks for the question and watching.
