Sandstorm had no soul to it. Like, 2014 had so much grit and was such a better experience. It felt like the game version of gwot era footage of blackwater at their height. Sandstorm feels like an SNL skit about PMCs in *modern conflict* Honestly you're 100% missing out by focusing so exclusively on PvP in these games. Co-op is the future of fun in games, you get dudes that try to play it like an actual tactical shooter instead of turbo metagaming.
If you want tactics the game's actual mechanics should support it. I shouldn't have to play make-believe with other grown men, fighting brain dead AI whom's only strength is numbers and laser aim. The tactical shooter genre is dieing because the genre is largely a joke that doesn't even follow it's own advertised rules.
"I shouldn't have to make believe" My brother in Christ do you not understand what games are? Complain if you want but I'm gonna keep enjoying playing immersive coop experiences in Arma, 2014 Insurgency, and such, surrounded by people trying to have fun and enjoy the immersion and tactics instead of trying to click on heads and watch imaginary numbers go up.
Something about sandstorm never stuck with me and I was a huge Insurgency fan (both mod and paid release). I couldn't really pinpoint the reason why but I feel like the maps were too busy which made it more run and gun. Also the launch of sandstorm was painfulllll
The original developers left so the game didn't have its charm. The studio wanted them to focus on bringing it to a wider audience and they didn't want to do that so they left and lo and behold, here we are. To be honest, this was always going to happen. I'm surprised that they lasted this long.
Comparing it to COD was a pure insult tbh. The game is slower, reload time, movement, kill time, gore, no HUD ofc, no killfeed, no perks or streaks, no season passes. This game is supposed to be played in Push or Frontline mode and people more often than not actually play objectives and in somewhat slower pace with a lot of camping usually a lot of 1000+ lvl players on servers. Yet you decide to play Domination (it is later added mode just for warm-up, no serious players), dress in the most ridiculous way, play obnoxiously like a COD player and then decide that this game is like COD, amazing. If you really want to do any justice go play a few rounds of Push and try to win, capture objectives, this is what Insurgency games are about at their core since 2014. Stuff like Domination mode and other BS like killcam was added to cater/attract COD players.
honestly ı have thousand times more fun in domination as it depends more on your individual skill more so than the stupid teammates you get in push who just stay outside while the enemy is capturing the point in Rush. This happens so much that ı genuinly think domination is the best gamemode.
I've personally never seen slorgs and jackfrags in the same room together... little bit odd don't you think? Also I'm fairly sure that broom is there to lock someone in that room that might not wanna be locked in that room lol
I still play the game, even bought some skins recently. Hopefully even if they stop working on it, the keep the servers up. Also it's built on UE4 engine. All over insurgency games are on Source.
I love insurgency sandstorm I've been playing it since it released on console and was keeping up to date with it and it's prequel insurgency I was really disheartened when I heard the entire dev crew was fired without warning I'm just still in hope the crew gets back together and opens another studio to make another absolutely fantastic game I'd love to see it p.s great content man keep up the good work
While the game had tactical elements, the maps were actually corridors much like Counter Strike or COD before Warzone, so Insurgency Sand Storm really was half buried in the past half in the modern era. If they did maps like Squad or Arma then it would've been truly tactical allowing players an exponential number of options rather than 3 lanes
Tbh the only tactical part of the insurgency PvP is the stamina enabled, but at least we can call the PvE tactical when relating to the Hardcore checkpoint, that truly adds more weight to the character, less hud and a more punishing AI I REALLY don't undestend why they didn't just added a PvP hardcore mode, even without getting the same numbers as the easy modes.
If it's a tactical shooter... it needs to stay true to its roots. The trend of late to introduce a constant stream of silly cosmetics and shift development priorities to paid DLCs hurts these tactical games... It happened with R6 Siege, it happened with Sandstorm, it happened with Hell Let Loose, and now it's happening with Squad.
I believe in Squad, everyone said the same thing about the emotes but emotes are (at least still) a grounded thing that just adds some more interactions between players. The weapon skins are probably staying the same thing, they said it'd be biome locked and realistic. Honestly my concern is if it somehow becomes P2W with the gun camo.
I feel like a big part of the problem is that people can’t seem to differentiate between a legitimate tactical shooter, and COD/Battlefield style gameplay on hardcore mode. Just cause you get shot once and die and don’t have a crosshairs doesn’t mean it’s a legitimate tactical shooter.
Glad you brought sandstorm on the channel, as the game deserves so much more, but sad you played the stupidest modes in the game! fair enough though, you're a newbie to the game. would happily watch you play it more. Push and firefight are the best and most tactical :)
the problem with tactical shooter is that there are not many players that is willing to buy this game but they have big budget to fund those in kickstarter witch attract scammers. Its more profitable to annouce the game and never release it. In other words, tactical shooters are mostly for old but few daddies that become sugar ones if someone make good promise and ask for funding.
The challenge for tactical shooters and why they falter as often as they do is that they are very niche. Despite how much people like the mil-sim aesthetics, when trying to get money rolling in, it's imperative to break away from that in favor of big booty anime catgirls with unicorn guns. As much as it kills an art style and alienates the smaller mil-sim community, it brings in much more people to replace them. Making games is expensive and indie developers value their integrity over profits until it bankrupts them. Publishers don't. Not every game can be Battle Bit and find that middle ground between mil-sim niche and an more general and inviting art style.
Dom is the cod game mode 100% play ambush, search, or literally any other game mode excluding FFA and it's pretty tactical. Just doesn't have a large fan base 😢
Ther eis something about Sandstorm I always hated or at least later hated. The game changes a lot since release. For me it just feels like "Call of Duty for poor people" can't really explain it any other way.
tactical shooters are failing because 1) They're not usually 'tactical' at all due to the 'realism' they push usually halting when it comes to the actual gunplay, calling into reason why the subgenre exists at all, and 2) It's an EXTREMELY overdone setting to be a generic soldier guy with an M4 in a desert or eastern european forest/village. It's just boring and uninspired at this point, made worse by how many of these games are constantly releasing, all looking and playing the same.
the problem is that just because something is more realistic doesnt mean its more tactical or more fun to play. people arent afraid for their lives in a video game. and then when a game tries to balance this by deliberately nerfing the player, a bunch of range Andy's come out and cry about realism. (i.e. Squads ICO update)
@@justateddybear951 This is spot on and why the only 'tacticool muh realism' shooter I play anymore is Squad. Legions of Karmakuts out there want every FPS to be the most boring and brainless type of lasertag possible. And to make it all worse, the arena shooter genre is basically fossilized and dead at this point. I just stick to RTS/RTT games now if I want to actually feel like I'm coordinated tactics with friends.
Do you guys remember when the U.S. Army fired the entire development studio for Americas Army Operations? They were taking too long to develop and release the version AA 3.0, which was an entirely new game on the Unreal 3 engine, which was a recently released brand new engine at the time. AA 2.8.5 on the Unreal 2.5 engine, was probably one of the greatest online fps games ever made, they killed the game by firing the Devs. AA 3.0 got released in a bad state, all the guys who made the best shooter game ever were gone, and then it was obvious nothing was ever going to get fixed or get improved, or even go back to the quality it once was. This is what happens when people who know nothing about software development put their stupid little fat fingers into things that people who are much smarter than them should be in charge of.
Never sell your company. I love you sandstorm and hate to see what's happened over the years. Thank God it's still playable.
Nice pfp bro
never switch to Unreal Engine.
the tactical side is in the co op i find, the extreme hardcore is so fun if you have a communicating team
Coop is mega underrated
Oh yeah. Coop is all I play.
The versus has guys run, jumping through doors
I wanted to like co-op but always found the AI was just too dumb to really hold my attention.
With PvP I can at least embrace the COD
@@kyles9937 same tbh

The maps are designed to work for all the different game modes. The previous game's maps were designed for Push except for maybe a couple.
