A slapshot by a professional hockey player was all it took to send this G-Shock into history and into a goalie’s mitt, literally. If it can handle a slapshot, it can handle your life. We like to refer to it as the quintessential G-Shock.

i've been wearing my g-shock for 20 years, only 4x battery change. The best watch in the world (for me).
That is amazing! It is a fantastic watch that’s for sure!
Have you changed the strap at any point?
@@guandasin3099 , Hi, for my individual case, I changed the strap after 9 years wearing this DW-5600-1V and the battery ( lithium CR 2016) after 5 years of use.
i have a mudman g9000 from 2011, still on its original strap, not a single battery change yet..
4x? That's alot you're using non solar?
I got myself one of these for Christmas and I've been extremely happy with it. I'm going to rock it today for digi-humpday.
I own many of the latest high end G-SHOCK’s including an mrg etc. The dw5600e is the one I wear most. Extremely comfortable and the perfect size. Can wear with any outfit pretty much and is tough as nails. The design is timeless.
This is the quintessential G-shock! I have 4 G’s & this is still my favorite.
Great review of what is arguably the best watch design of all time. The Casio DW5600 is a timeless classic.
Couldn’t agree more!
On December 12, 2017, the G-Shock earned the Guinness World Record for the heaviest vehicle to drive over a watch. The officials from Guinness World Record drove a 24.97 ton truck over the Casio G-Shock DW5600E-1. The G-Shock is the first watch by any company being able to withstand the challenge....fantastic....
Just got mine today for Christmas. It's awesome so far.
0017Bulldog congrats!! It’s a great buy and an amazing watch. I wear it everyday!
Today 09.13.2018 came my dw5600-1v . :)
Best watch have mine 20 yrs and still wear it all buttons still work and I still haven't change the battery . Well made watch
Are you seriously saying that you haven't changed the battery in your watch in 20 years and it still works with the original factory battery?!
It must be dw5600ue i.e. tough solar version.
The best watches in the world!
Злой Сварщик Totally agree. I love it!
Злой Сварщик yes I’ve got 5 DW5600s in my collection
Honestly I agree...
This is the best watch i ever had im very happy i got this and tgank for youtube community without them i will never know about the history of gshock
The 5600 is a classic it dates back to 1987 and still in production albeit with a resin shell since 1996, but look wise it's hard to tell apart!
This model has gone into the Guinness book of records for world toughness and since then Casio seem to have hiked its price up? But still worth every penny!
Wish they would give us the metal case again personally but it's still a favourite though.
Actually 1983. I got my first one in 1984. Still wear them. The 5600 has a beter louder alarm then the new versions. Sadly enough. The alarm on my 5000u is barely noticeable 😢
@robin6512
Yes your correct, 1983 was the first G shock that one was the 5000c with the brick pattern, I have a 1984 model also but that's a 5200c 'hero' as named but the 5600c came along in 1987 with the introduction of module 691! The ones prior had the 240 module ,that I prefer as you can have a chime on both 30/60 minutes and the week day is more to the edge of the display.but all models before 1996 had that superior screwback case, compared with the resin construction so common today?
You raise a good point on the 5000u alarm! But the old srewbacks have it under the display, so maybe that's the reason for it?
@@Mike-kc8rl Interesting points. My grail would be the new 5000U due to the longer lasting light and the changeable date format and a few other features (Solar/ Atomic/ simultaneous function displays etc.). It's a shame that the alarm is supposed to be a bit poor. The DW-5200 is a different pitch, not sure it's loud, just very high frequency, which wakes you up!
Now it’s until 2099 with the module 3229 for the auto-calendar. Nice video btw.
Good review. And I love my DW5600E! I have a DW5600BBN as well...and Ive actually put the Nato/Zulu strap with adapters from the BBN model on my E model. Love it.
+Heinri van Zyl Thanks for sharing! I will check out Zulu strap too!
got one today, its good :O)
I'm wearing one now dw-5600e.
+joel hammie the most comfortable watch to wear!
Verve Reviews it feels fit. Not to small and not to big. But most of all this the legendary model.
Astronauts wore dw5600c.
Review a Casio 53W. It also been in lot of movies and TV show
The 90s legend watch the casio g-shock dw-5600e introduced in 1996
Love my gw5610. I have 7 Casios all get more wrist time than my automatics 😂
The best things in Life are always the simple ones ! Peace from Germany...🙂
I have the solar version of this. My absolute favorite watch other than my steel/sapphire modded casio royale. This watch goes with every outfit be it casual or formal!
I bought my solar powered G Shock watch in 2003. The battery still shows full charge. Yes, it’s still the original battery.
1:28 In Speed Keanu wears the more expensive and more “original” DW-5600C-1V which has a screw back steel case.
Just a coment, the DW 5600 “C” with 691 module (I don’t remember if 901 module too) was aproved by NASA and weared by astronauts. Great review!!!!
It’s actually both!
I believe the 5600e is also used as the stock ran out on the 5600c! 5600e is actually a better tougher watch so why not?
There are two things that the basic DW-5600E-1V is best at: The alarm that can be set for the month/day, and the indicator light that can be set for the alarm. None of the Solar G-Shocks know these two things, I don't even understand the designers, why they didn't include them...

Nice video...i love it Gshock watch..its one of my favorite watch .can u plzzz make some more videos for setting alarm...
Hello! Is that worth to buy a solar 5600? Congratulations!
You forgot to tell people the best feature if you hold the ligh button down you will see and hear a charm and then every time a new hour comes the light will flash it's light and if you have an alarm when the alarm goes off the watch will flash its light on and off
Bought one for 39$ on Amazon and am in love with it!
Wow!! That is amazing!
Very professional and comprehensive review. Great background track as well. What kind of camera are you using
Thanks! I’m using the black magic cinema camera.
They actually have a NASA edition one that’s orange. Plus? If you’re looking into the higher end versions, you get solar power and atomic timing.
the only thing that sucks is that using the otherr modes at night is almost impossible, because the light doesnt turn on then, so you kind of have to count and go back and fourth turning on the light to see what number youve turned the count down timer to. As far as night time activities its pretty damn useless.
Looks like you display is crooked in the watch housing . Imo opt for the 5610 series . Better features for the $
You're right. It is titled downwards. Have the same issue with my Timex Ironman and drives me nuts. Luckily my 5600 is perfectly aligned.
timeless watch
Why is this one considered good for space ? What’s the difference between another’s ? For example gd350 or more expensive ? Or for example why is not gwg-1000 mudmaster the best for space ? Is it with multi band good for space ? Where in can read and learn more about g-shock’s ? I’ve meet one guy who had 70 g-shocks and his knowledge about g-shocks is … unbelievable
I love my 5600
I have the solar version of this watch.. Going great for 3 years now. Never needs a battery change.. 😊
I have a GW-002E (solar/ atomic)that I got as a Christmas present in 2007, still holds full charge! (2023)
Not the biggest fan of the design but it was on Amazon for only $29! I just had to buy it 😂 so now I’m watching videos about it
clooney seems to be wearing GW5000 .
How do ya know?
Just got mine 😀
Arnold and Clint didn't wear a 5600 in their movies....btw nice video!
Bro this is good or its solar version please reply ... Does it have auto light
Is the alarm loud enough to wake you up?
Hello Ik probably you won’t see this comment but I would like to ask you that which one you would prefer DW-5600E-1VDF or GX-56BB-1DR?
So I have a 9052 that has lasted over 4 years on the original battery (it's still going). I understand the estimated battery life for the 5600 is 2 years. But with those being the 2 cheapest gshocks, I'd imagine they might have the same battery? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Just trying to see how long the battery will last in my new 5600e
I have a 1984 vintage DW-5200 with lithium battery and it lasts about 10 years on each battery! I think it might be a CR2016 cell, so having just bought a used 5600 yesterday, I'd be interested to find out how long it will last.
@@itsallrobbish Well if it's any consolation, my 5600 is still on its original battery going on 3-4 years now. Don't use the backlight much, and never use the alarm. My 9052 is still on its original battery from almost 8 years ago, but the time keeps resetting randomly so it's probably time for a new battery in the 9052. I can confidently say G-Shock's quality is still second to none!
For this model, your EL is aqua-blue (i love it) but some others are green. Why? Great video btw 👊
That’s an excellent question...I’m not sure why. Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the video!
His camera settings are making the illuminator look blue . It's more green
Not the "original" DW5000C... the first one. The original didn't have the illuminator light on it.
What happens to the watch after 2039? lol
Casio needs an XL version of this..same exact watch just maybe a 48-50 mm case..
they do have it
@@halim5429 which model?
@@humanfirst11 casio gx56bb
They do
GX-55BB is what you're looking. It's too big for my wrist.
At 3:04 min when you push the button, the entire movement inside moves. Also, the LCD is tilted to one side. 😐
Only one alarm :(
vlax12 yes, unfortunately:(
5 alarms is G-5600E planning to get one.
I’ve got this G-Shock. I wear it to bed every night.
Best G shock money can buy imho
With $ 20 more, the 5610 offers solar cells and radio control , I gave my 5600 in favor of the 5610.
Hmmm. The solar i get but how much of a need is radio control time?? What is special about it? I hear that term a lot
@@firemanvj In some parts of the world like the Uk, Germany, China and Japan they have super accurate atomic clocks that broadcast the correct time via radio a couple of times a day. An Atomic watch / Radio control watch will syncronise itself with that signal to keep perfect time, you need to be within range of a tower for it to syncronise however. When out of range it will just behave like a normal watch.
You can Google up a map to see if you are within range of one, but basically everywhere at or below the equator will have no signal so this feature is useless for me personally.
If you want solar charging but don't want to spend more on radio control its worh checking out the g-shock G5600e, its basically the 5610 without radio control and much cheaper.
That radio control is much useful when you're living in a mountain/forest without phone or something lol
I'm pretty sure its resin not rubber
That’s correct.
I have three of 5600 because they are hard to find, però ho anche il 5610 e il 5000
I have the same watch and on the back it says DW5600E. What is the -1V about, is mine the same?
Oh yours says the same on the back :) My light is green, though. Weird.
@@penkatadrums
Think back light colour is different for where they are made ! Some are China but the better quality ones are arguably Thailand? These tend to have a teal colour back light.
the BEST G-shock of all.. this and 6900
pcstudios3 I agree. Have worn it in all conditions and has performed very well!
Verve Reviews I have 5600 simple and a 6900g black orange letters and gold display
how would this fare with regular exposure to pool water?
Very well, just rinse it off after swimming. Early screwback bezels do breakdown after 15 years or so. They get sticky and break up.
You have forgotten Tom Cruise: Mission Impossible 1 ;-)
+Top Gun Wow! I had no idea and that’s one of my favourites! Thanks for sharing!
I don’t think so! He wore DW290, not this watch.
Casio DW290 brother
Yep, as others have said the DW-290, not a G-Shock. It's still pretty tough, though, like the DW200/210/220/240 etc before it.....which incidentally swap hands for $100 plus nowadays.
Screw down not screw in
What's better, the 5600 or the solar version ?
That one doesn’t have an answer. One day solar some say battery. Mine is non solar. I don’t spend a lot of time in the sun and don’t live in a sunny area. So battery 💯
I got my gshock 5600e and I love it
Graphics, lcd, price, band wise, I'd say DW-5600. For accuracy and not having to take the back off every 5 years, the 5610 (U).
Is it possible to replace resin band with a cloth brand in this watch?
+a2zadi Yes it is but you will need adapters
Adapters? Can you explain me what it's and its role? Also is it required for every cloth Band watch?
+a2zadi Yes it is required for NATO, Zulu or any other cloth band. You can purchase and learn more here: m.ebay.ca/itm/Casio-GShock-5600-Strap-Adapters-Kit-Black-PVD-3-ring-Nylon-DW5600-GW5600-/271411944042
good review all in all. should have mentioned, that the buttons are quite unconfortable to press, which i think is the maybe only weakspot on this more classic watch design. i like a lot the buttons on the new pro trek series, like the prw-3000.
the back with the screws is a big plus to me, as its easy to open and close. dont know why u finding that bad, besides aesthetics.
Hard to press buttons are kind of one of the points of the watch. The watch is made for physical activity and physical activity can lead to accidentally push the buttons.
Damn $60? I paid $45 for mine and they're selling on Amazon for $43. But anyways this is a great looking classic design that will continue to age well.
Robert NES816 That's a great buy! One of the best value watches on the market hands down.
Verve Reviews I picked mine up for $39 brand new off amazon. Really great deal, I use it for diving all the time in the Bahamas.
Does this have auto-light feature?
Im feeling lucky, punk Yes it does. It has a nice indigo blue colour and lasts for 2 seconds before it shuts off. Great watch.
Hi, how it is activated?
Autolight feature is on 5600-ue. Solar version.
You know why they wear multiple watches in space , because they get a little cash to take them to space so the company can use it to sell more watches . Almost any watch will work in space .
I dont know which one to buy 5800 or Casio SGW 300h, It's not a G-Shock but has Thermometer, Barometer, both have same prices, any idea, anyone
+I’m not to familiar with those models. The SGW series seems to be more popular. Fatos Elezaj
can you turn off button operation tone ???
Neeraj Patiyal not that I’m aware of unfortunately.
Neeraj Patiyal yes you can
@@RR-dj8rt if nothing else, you could probably disable the internal speaker.
1:19 That's a 5500. Great video though, I love the 5600.
Show....👏👏 Igual o meu😁
I love the watch. However to say that this watch is durable is misleading. The resin, the kind of plastic they use in g-shock watches will disintegrate in ten years time at most, shorter if used heavily or subjected to water. That is they will disintegrate if you just leave the watch in a shelve for ten years and come back you will find the watch in pieces. If you plan to use your watches for around 8 years I recommend the watch, but for for longer use stick to A158w I say.
Nice..
+Saifur Rahmam Thanks!
I got mine at Target for $50
William Greeter That’s an amazing deal!
G-Shock > Apple Watch
Good video but bad lighting
$60 that's a bit much because I only paid $40 brand new on Amazon
Thats not $60 in US dollars.
only 2 year battery tho :/
NIGGAS Very true! This one lasts 7 years! ververeviews.com/2017/02/19/casio-f91-w-a-terrorist-favorite/
RomannTW will definitely check it out! Thanks for sharing!
Not necessary. This watch is highly accurate with out the atomic time keeping. Solar watches are a gimmick. It still has a battery. It just uses the sun to recharge it. After about 6 years the battery is toast and it would cost more then the watch to replace the battery. Better off to stick with the 5600.
niggas, all 30 months u have to put in a battery for 50 cent with a work time of under 5mins. is a bit ironic, because im sure most people will attach their smartphone every single day to the plug, and most wont complain.
Peter Lemonhead was just thinking the same thing lol
Bangladesh price please? Can i find it Bangladesh and where?
Google is your friend.
I don't really recommend it, newest square models have calendar until 2099 and this one until 2039, that means you only have 19 years left of calendar, and this watches are very capable to last decades, so you after 2039 what?? I guess in 1996 when it was launched seemed long to get to 2039 but nowadays is around the corner. So let's say you'll soon lose a fundamental feature if you get this particular model.
My DW5600E from last year goes till 2099. If you do have an older model, you can set it 28 years earlier and all the dates and days of the week will be correct.
@@tiberiu_nicolae thank you that's really great because you can continue enjoying your watch the right way
Nver better by nver
no one ever goes to space
It's just a boring no frill watch module in extra thick plastic... :-/ How much does extra plastic cost? Next to nothing.
CHOPPERGIRL's AIRWAR Yup. No frills 200m water and shock resistance.
Look up how it was made this watch made the man millions even if it is plastic
Space watch😂😂
Do you really believe everything you see on tv ??
Fake moon landings 😂
Astro Not
You need to fact checks on your references, some are not DW5600e.
Gshock is good but please cut the nasa crap.
What’s crap about it? More robust than a Speedmaster.
It's certified for NASA, but only inside the module. It's a fact, but if that's crap, then it can't be helped.
Best watches in the world for sure. However if the sun or china decides to emp the world only mechanical watches will be king.
poor lighting
this video i wanted to know about the watch, instead i found out that this guy idolizes media manipulated "famous People"
one of the best, yet one of the ugliest watches ever
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Omg
