- Anybody else have a Nissan with a door handle problem? I have yet to buy one without such an issue. Hope this was informative and entertaining! Such a pain to have to roll down the window just to get into the car! I'm so glad its over!

Hey! I had the door handle gremlin, happened about 3 weeks ago. I watched your video and was much relieved to see the handle was so easy to replace! Found an OEM, new, for a few bucks more than after-market, it arrived today, and...BOOM!!! 15 minute fix! FYI, the convertible has the aligning pin covering the top screw, took a T3(?) Torx to remove, but otherwise the same. Thank you for all the help! Great video!

I have done this several times. A few hints: 1. tape off around door handle opening. This will prevent scratching surrounding paint during installation. 2. Use a piece of rolled thin cardboard around socket to help prevent dropping screws inside of door panel. 3. An extending magnet retrevial tool is handy to manage removal of screws after loosening. 4 Carefully note placement of screws when removing or you may get confused during installation of new handle. Good luck!

Thanks for this video bro. I just changed out both handles on my wife's 350Z. Without this video, I would have had to take it to the dealership to fix. You just saved me a lot of money. Also, Thanks for dropping that bolt because it made me super paranoid to NOT let that happen, therefore, I was really careful. Again, thanks very much.

Thank You so much for posting this! My 2003 just came up with the same problem, urgh!, How frikkin aggravating! NISSAN Are YOU L I S T E N I N G? This morning I forgot. Stopped on my way to work for Coffee at a McDs. And out of Habit I put the windows Up . Came out and Ooops OS! Doors wouldn't open. No Key option on the Hatch or the Passenger Side either. At first I though I might have to break out the Drivers side Window. Lucky for me I was able to get the Hatch Back open with my KEY FOB and I actually had to climb in through the Back to open the doors from the inside. I'm 62! I sure a lot of people who saw me were laughing I did this too, I'll order a replacement handle and get to work this weekend.Great Video and THANKS again!

This literally just happened to me like 2 days ago, ordered a pair that same day lol. I've only had a Z for about a month now and already having Z problems, oil consumption, grinding gears, hatch struts, HANDLES.😂

Can you believe the Nissan dealership wanted to charge me $600 for replacing both door handles? I ordered a pair thru Amazon for $107 and did it myself after watching this video. Took me less than 15 minutes to do it and saved me $500. Wow

Very tall here as well. Hold the unlock on the fob. Windows roll down for ya. Reach in and open. Gotta fix mine too. Lol
@@Rich0712 yeah I used to do that with my nissan maxima as well... when cars completely dead tho , youll be screwed i had to go thru driver window n open hood then jumped car
@@shaa_boogie yea that'll definitely warrant having to go through passenger side. Really like having the volt gauge as well as oil pressure and info cluster. Driver oriented car for sure.
I really enjoy holding the key fob down to lower the windows to open from the inside JUST like he did. I was wondering what the hell myself so thank you very much for explaining the issue.
Both driver and pass door handles quit working within a week. The only way I can get in is to hold the key fob unlock button until the windows go down so I can use the indoor handle. Thanks for this video and I will order new ones

Have you ever had some random coolant drip? No leak, because it’s so slow and random. I just smell the coolant super rarely, but honestly annoying haha any clue? Thanks
Coolant is leaking somewhere. Get a coolant pressure tester and pressurize the system to find the leak with the car off so it’s safe to look around. Most of the time coolant will vaporize off from the hot engine before you see it on the ground. I’d start with the heater core bleeder, any OEM plastic coolant pipes and the throttle body coolant lines. All of these seem to give issues eventually. Overheating is one of the few ways to kill a VQ.

Incase you have a metal plate stopping access to the top 10mm nut, use a T35 bit to take them off first. I got the T35 3/4 socket head at home depot for ~$3

Mine went out a few weeks ago so I've been holding the lock button down to roll the windows down so I can open it from the inside lol now I know how to fix it

It's so ridiculous that manufacturers uses little plastic pieces in high stress mechanical areas like door handles.

DO NOT DROP THE BOLTS!!! Yes, ur pulling the whole panel off. It's not bad to pull it but it's a extra hour just to retrieve them from the bottom!

Happened to me but my passenger door handle, When i Tried to remove it the bottom bolt of the door handle just keeps spinning and will not break loose... Any suggestions on how to remove this bolt? I have the new door handle I just cant get the damn bolt to loosen. Just keeps spinning. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
So is the door lock actuator included with the door handle?
Mine locks when I happen to press the fob at same time, this fixed that issue?

I paid $350 to have mine replaced on one side only. And it just broke again, now both sides are broken. Just ordered me both handles frm amazon, hopefully I can change them myself

What year is your z and would you recommend a z with just the regular vq35de rather than the rev up version? or should i go looking for the rev up?
If you can afford it go for the hr but if not go for the regular de and save some money for mods
+zephyr1237 I suggest the rev up/HR model. Its just better to have 20+ hp right off the bat, and it IS a noticeable difference.

Any chance anyone knows how to open the door if neither handle is working? The only thing I can find out is to cut up the door panel lol and I really don't want to do that. I replaced both handles as both exterior handles were broken, and the passenger works fine, but the driver door is stuck locked. I think the locking rod slid out of the cylinder when I was reinstalling the door handle. PLEASE HELP LOL

Did you find anything? Mine is convertible.
1:34 to avoid losing those bolts I used to use a piece of paper, at least shape it into a C or completely wrap your socket.
As the bolt gets screwed out, you catch it with the paper. (Like a funnel) And it makes it an easy install of the new bolts.

I was under the impression you somehow replaced the little plastic in the door handle. Lol this didn't fix the problem, I went through 3 outside door handles in my 3 years of owning a Z.
My shit did the same thing hahaI just left my shit and go through the window (convertible) haha
