You just saved me $1150!! Mechanic said parts $700 labor $400+tax. I bought the parts off Amazon for $50 and took less than an hour of my time, thanks to your video... God bless you brother
The Reason the window was partially down is because when the door is open, it lowers the window slightly. When you close the door, it closes the rest of the way, You probably had it right the first time it was in
Just did this on my new/used Z, turns out that the window setting trick he's talking about works. After the install it would go all the way up then half way down. So to reset it -- Put the window all the way down and hold the button for ten seconds, then up for ten, and suddenly it began to work.
with the door card off theres a relearn button on the window motor you need to hold down while using the window switch (not auto function) to take it all the way down then raise it up and release both buttons, you need to do this with the door closed.
I just performed the removal and replacement of the window motor for my 2005 350Z; thank goodness everything works like a charm after reassembly; I purchased the part from Amazon for $40 USD; I had to find another way around the dealership, who tried to charge me $1300 USD for this job; thanks for saving me by posting this vid!!!!
I wanted to SCREAM "shut the door" when you couldn't get the window up all the way.I knew it would have saved you the time and headache messing with it.Had to of been frustrating,it was killing me.😂I wish I could have helped.I have an 03 Z and mine does the same.
Resetting After installing each component to the vehicle, follow the steps below. 1. With the door open, lift up and hold the power window switch until the door glass is fully closed. 2. Get inside the vehicle and close the door. You need to close the door so the door switch is fully depressed. 3. Press and hold the reset switch. While holding the reset switch, press down and hold the power window switch until the door glass is fully opened. 4. Release the reset switch. Then, lift up and hold the power window switch until the door glass is fully closed. 5. Open the door to release the door switch. The door glass should partially move down.
For taking the motor off the bracket use an impact drill, #3 Philips will work. I used a #2 philips on my Impact Drill it worked just fine. Screws are tight from the factory.
Thanks for this video saved me heaps. Appreciate this by adding to the Z body:) Especially the sizing screws for the motor. Save me indeed stripping them!!
Hey all I am in the process of replacing, well, reinstalling my window motor because it two of the three bolts and backed out and the motor was so loose it had started skip and strip the 3/8" drive. The problem is I cannot get the motor drive to turn in order to align it to the window regulator hole. I tried turning the motor by hand and the regulator with an extension but neither budge. Should I just replace my window regulator or is there a way to align the two? Thanks in advance.
No one shows or tells you how hard it is to put the metal cover, that the motor and regulator mounts to, back on. That was the hardest part for me. You need four hands and two of them need to be alien skinny.
Thes UA-cam dudes always do that bs. They make everything seem like it’s super easy by cutting out all the difficult parts that’s why UA-cam machanics get laughed at😂
The screw/bolt that sits behind the door handle, what size/length is it? I need to replace it as my 350z came without it (and I'm about to attempt to switch out this motor). Thanks for the help.
I felt so bad that he didn't know the window goes all the way up when the door shuts but I think he bought the car without the window working, great video though because I have to change mine today,. Obrigado!
I was about to say same thing but others beat me to it. The window is down to prevent damages to the spoiler. When the door is closed it goes all the way up
Broski, the motor comes with a small black RESET button, look up the instructions on how to reset it, that's why your window gets stuck sometimes. I learned the hard way; bought a cheap motor from amazon as well, and it didn't come with the reset button
It should be relatively similar. I grabbed a used g35 4dr window motor for my passenger side and the only thing that was different was 1 mounting hole of the motor. But the other 2 holes lined up and the motor seemed secure. I haven't had any problems with it.

The torque wrench is kind of a must right? I’m trying to fix mine and I’m living on a dorm so I don’t have any tools 😢

This is the second time I’ve come to watch this video because you explain so well! I am doing the passengers window motor now. Thank you so much!!!

WHERE IS THE RESET BUTTON LOCATED ???
@@ammo8713 reset button is on the "motor" that makes the window go up and down...
@@ammo8713 window motor is inside the door...remove door panel...
Appreciate it man! The only thing I added was holding the reset switch for 10 seconds and then letting go but everything worked out!
I have a same issue today...I ordered new motor $38 on ebay as new one. I hope fix this issue with it. Thanks for sharing
Hey man. Did you install the ebay one and how did it hold up to today
the window goes all the way up when door is closed
Lmao

They make a silicone grease for the nylon runners in tracks helps
You had it right the first time....lol When you shut the door, the window would have gone up the rest of the way to seal it up.
Oxy Saint this guy did so many things for no reason 😂
Replace entire assembly
Motor and regulator (tracks)
I had the same issue and I replaced everything as a whole works great

Did you ever figure this one out?
@@2002adg If I remember correctly I took the motor apart that way it could align with the drive. I there was no way to get it to spin otherwise.
Thanks - other videos dont explain whether to remove the gold bolts or not - I chickened out at that point 😆👍
My philips screws wont sit into the regulator bracket through the OEM motor now. I don't understand what I need to do.
It looks like I will have to do the same as you here. Thank you for the video.
* The windows only go up ALL the way, once doors are closed, so they don't accidentally crack when closing the door, being pillarless.
Thank you going to try put mines up tomorrow
Lol that blue tape literally did nothing, you make a wedge to place between the window and door panel

It rolls downs unusually slow lol
Dude you should have lubed up the window tracks.
what's the right way to lube things? there was lube on my window every time i raised it when i first got it.

Close the door it'll go up the rest of the way

if you were getting a drift and race should have gone HR manual. that DE engine is old technology and weaker.

Howd you get the connectors apart

Terrible guide. Lots of missing steps that I remembered to not have broken parts. Take it down and remake it
