Hey Nick, any updates?
No not yet, another week has gone by and they are still working on it.
@@NickMurray It would appear fitting a new battery has not solved the problems.
The suspense is building...
What an absolute nightmare. I wouldn’t describe this as “a few minor issues”.
any updates because my toyota camry also have same problem
Replace "M" badge with an "AMG" badge and see if different codes come up...
NO! It will try to pull it's own headbolts out of the block/case!
Jim Destiche Then the engine will stop working completely. But it will look 😎
I hate that badge. Such a hipsters thing to do.
The Porsche dealer’s garage floor is cleaner than my doctor’s office.
Hey doc, I've got achy balls - can you help me out with a diagnosis!
That's because they never repair anything! Just get a new one!!!!
@@haydnreed9932 yes..heres the number to my porsche mechanic...🤣😂😜
Deary me Nick ! are you gonna lemon it like the 991.1 ??? alibi to get the 992 ;)
??? You have lots of electrical issues and the guy working on the car says he struggles with computer related problems on cars ??? Is this comedy Nick ? :-)
LMAO Lemon Tr11 Nick
I thought the same exact thing!!
Lord save me from these internet trolls. There are obviously other mechanics who specialize in electronics and that doesn’t mean a service center does not need a 20yr+ experienced meister.
Herwig V just looking at his hands he doesn't work on the cars. He is a service advisor. He could of been selling shoes before this value.

...just when I was thinking that "I should but a Porsche, Nick's been having good luck with his second one" you post this video.
this is what I'm thinking damn man, don't wanna drop 100 stacks on a car and have to be in loaners : / (unless, they loan GT2RS')
@@WheresTheAnyKey1 Yeah, I thought porsche was suppose to be pretty solid. Although to spendy for me.
I think it is just @NickMurray doing something to his car. Our 991.2 911 is solid as rock, and has more miles than Nick’s. Also, our GT3 and GT3RS are bullet proof. I am guessing that Nick is trying to use it to power his house or something that is damaging the battery. :)
My Bugatti Veyron has been floorless
Believe it or not the most reliable ones seem to be the 944, from the 1980s - front engined, simpler systems with overbuilt components, but the issues also abound now simply because of age. 1989 was thirty years ago.
You are a master in picking up lemons 🍋🍋🍋 😛
That's what happens when you buy German these days sadly.
That is simply impossible. You can't buy two lemons in a row.
Porsche 2nd to only lexus on JD power stats
@Simmo, and yet this guy gets two faulty Porsches in a row.
Just a few codes and you're calling it a lemon?
The M badging only sped up the reliability problems.

Perhaps the blue and sports techno wheels are the root of all your Porsche problems....
you might be on to something
Sorry you're having problems with the Porsche. Man you made the right color choice. That blue looks so good in the sunlight.
What's a "chick" engine message? 😉
It is a baby chicken that tells you when you have a problem. $6,000 Porsche option.

Clavicle Notch stop it mate, leave Nick alone!
It' an excuse to pullover light, to park up when you have a hot date :) (in my analogue old banger i have to manually pop the cable off the MAF sensor for the same light to come on)
For a premium car like Porsche, I wouldn’t expect a single issue. These aren’t small issues given the brand. These should be considered as serious. The electronics in these new versions are major issues and Porsche needs to get involved understanding the inner causes. Nick, having to open a car after factory build just devalues it. You should raise this as a common issues with Porsche’s. Sell it and buy the new M4 in 2020
Should’ve gotten a Corolla ;)

Nick, I’m disappointed you didn’t try to fix this yourself. First drop the head unit back out to the Windows ME desktop, and check the task manager for any unusual processes. Maybe your friend installed something on it while you were away that had malware hidden in it. Always happens that’s why I never loan mine out. You can re-boot in safe mode to delete any apps that shouldn’t be in there. If it keeps happening, you’ll want to install some antivirus. But that’s a last resort as you probably lose about 5HP due to it running in the background. All else fails, do a clean install. It will reset the odometer and all codes, but you’ll lose all your settings.
If you never lend your car, you’ll always know the truth.
There is your problem Nick. Bill is an analog man. You can't have an analog man fix a digital car.🤣😂🤣😂
Seriously started cracking up when I heard this
especially when fixing electrical issues.
So glad I ran out and bought a 991.2 after watching your videos. Why in the hell am I looking to you as a role model?
:)))))))
I have a 991.1 c2s and I recently started getting some error codes. In fact, my car got the the same engine fault code I saw on your car. My battery was low and I had it replaced. No error codes have shown up since. My porsche tech told me this is quite common. I had 2 batteries replaced on my 997 in just 3 years. Putting the battery on a trickle charger seems to help.
"I lent it to my friend while I was away for weeks at the other side of the globe" enough said.
I think Bill said everything a concerned Porsche owner doesn't want to hear ! 'im having a little trouble because everything is so computerized ' .... ' I'm alittle bit lost as far as computers go' ! Well good luck Nick .... Good thing your Porsche isn't computerized !🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Yup I didn't hear anything that inspired me
I'm starting to get the impression that Porsche's are not as well made as people say. I mean this is your 2nd one with loads of electronics issues.
N1ckN1ck100 they do have a lot of quality issues actually. More than other German brands.
Thats not true at all@@MrTaliz
tali sson yea they seem extra finicky.
nah, this is nothing compared to his previous 911 which was a one off disaster.
@@MrTaliz bs mate, BMW's are bad. Porsche's are most reliable , look it up.
Gotta love the Porsche gurus in Porsche dealerships. Porsche Melbourne has a mechanic that has worked there for 50 years, remembered my car back when it was in pre-delivery (1987)

oh you..
I’m sure Matt from obsessed garage will gladly tell you how one mouse can completely mess up a 911.
@1:36 'I'm an analogue man in a digital age'..Mate I was pouring a beer just as he said that - immediate raise of the glass 'I'll drink to that' I said. The M badge is great btw..
The analog mechanic is fixing the electronic issue; hold your breath
As a Porsche dealership technician myself, this was an interesting video. It is harder for the older techs in the shop to grasp some of the newer technology in the late model cars. But they make up for it with their experience with the brand and their knowledge of the older cars. I'm interested to see what they find with your concerns with the car. I haven't seen these issues come through my shop yet.
Porsche needs to improve software code, so that a low/weak battery would be recognized, rather than a guess.
Remove M badge and all lights that shouldnt be on will turn off
Best comment EVER,Cheers.

Yip! Batteries are a Plague for a lot of modern pieces of machinery, a variation in voltage and all Hell breaks loose.
So many electronics drawing on AMPS while sitting etc, takes no time at all to drop the correct voltage.
I use to run into this with my Marine Business, with all the modern electronics being installed on Yachts and Cruises, any drop in voltage would Screw equipment and reading's all the time.
This is a real problem since the introduction of a similar type of Can-bus system as used in Automobile's.
Good luck Mate. 🇳🇿🇳🇿
Hey Nick, pity you couldn't come through Kelowna BC on your way to Vancouver, I retired up there last yr.
Murray A. 🇳🇿🇳🇿 ChCh.
You're right. A few weeks ago my ABS light came on and then started flashing every time I used my indicators. Also, when reversing, the reversing sensor bleeped continuously with nothing behind the car. It was most strange. The following day the car seemed fine, but after parking at some shops it wouldn't start again. The battery was completely dead as a result of an alternator failure, although I don't know why my battery light didn't warn me about this before the battery died. As you say, when batteries start getting low it can result in all sorts of weird symptoms. I replaced the alternator and also replaced the battery for good measure and now everything is back to normal.

I love the old Boxster in the background.
Ah the fabled German reliability.
It more likely the owners use. Porsche 2nd in JD power survey
JD power survey is overrated. Wouldn’t go off that at all.
T-shirt idea alert, Nick-"I help support Tui's cocaine habit" ;D
Tech seems like a great guy, but he was off the mark when he said turbo cabs hold their value best. Not even close to the value the GT cars hold. Turbo cars, although fantastic cars in every measure, drop in value like rocks compared to GT cars for some reason.
A mouse story was the best he could come up with after 20 yrs working around All those cars hahahahahaha LOL 😀😀😀 bloody classic....
Cars seem to hate being driven by anyone other than their owners. Every time I left cars with others they started to come up with issues that they never had before.
mine had a lot of the same issues and after months they finally replaced the wiring harness which solved everything. thank god it was under warranty. not mice related.
Porsche would not let a random person to interview a Gold Meister Engineer. This shows Nick’s relationship with Porsche and consequentially how Porsche views Nick and this channel.
My 99 boxster has no issues. Same for my 996 turbo. So there u go.
Agreed. My 1999 996 is bulletproof. It's the best year to get for sure.
I like analogue guys like Bill. Again a very nice video Nick, thanks for sharing!
Wonder if all the driving and having fun in the snow doing donuts and such, contributed to his issues. Although mostly sealed up, some moisture could have got into a connector or affected a ground strap, leading to all of these electrical issues. Porsche bought it back, but seems that a deep dive into cleaning all of the electrical connectors and ground straps, might have solved it. But I suppose the techs are not permitted to do anything not mentioned in the factory repairs manual
What a legend mechanic, would love to have a pint with Bill :-)
That's my dad! He would love to have a pint with you and talk shop :)
Haha No way! That's awesome, unfortunately I live in the UK... If I ever make it over near the dealership I will hit you up on that for sure :-)
You just here for the M badge Joe?😀
Your dog snorting was hilarious. Lol 🤣
another 130k car with issues. LOL
How is a Turbo Cab the best resale? A GT3 or GT3RS would hold value much better assuming you buy it at sticker.
yeah, that makes no sense. depreciation on a turbo cab is higher than a coupe. the targas are sticky though so that part is on point.
@@ggarrison1087 The tech does not know the values of the various models for sure.
Poor guy has probably been fed shit from the sales department for the past 20 years
Shifted Perspective that guy nows nothing on Porsche beyond his training manual. Cabs have the lowest resale value than any other Porsche 911. Just see how many are for sale and the prices. Not that they are not a great car but its a niche car.
@@jamesreith2728 lol.. so true. American Porsche dealers are notorious for their "sales tactics"
I'm a member of Porsche GB club. Unfortunately modern Porsche problems are not uncommon. I've had issues with mine. I just hope that everything goes wrong before the warranty runs out! Can you imagine how much you might be billed if all this happened after the warranty period?!
I also run a 10 year old Honda as a runabout/beater car. It sees no love, yet has been absolutely completely faultless. Unlike my year old Porsche!!
Second Porsche owned by Nick with issues. Either the brand is not as reliable as we thought or Nick has just bad luck.
Bad luck I think. I've had three over the past 8 years and had very minor issues. My friends have had many more than I have and would never shy from upgrading each time. If reliability was an issue, we would all look elsewhere.
I'd let that guy work on any of my cars. You can tell he's an engineer by heart. Very tech savvy.
People still try to say Porsche’s are related reliable. More is broken on his brand new $130k car than on the 20yr old CRV I had. Maybe he just has the worst luck in the world but maybe not...
remember how this channel was started? with a porsche that never worked, and ended up porsche buying the car back.
You never learn. LOL
The master mechanic is hinting at you to get an analog older 911. Then "hire" him to work on your car
Here we go! Funny how I had several similar issues (rear lights, coolant warning, oil leaks) with my Boxster, and none with my AMG.
That would frustrate the shit out of me, man. You're a patient and calm human being.
"We try and do what necessary and even if you know we have to do something that might not be fully ' you know required ' we still we try and do it" I've head that line before..... "We changed your cabin air filter for 100$." Thanks I changed it last month.
Prefers to work on older cars, casually goes for the Turbo Cab. Lol, solid guy.
Oh here we go again ;)
Porsche should just buy it off instantly. Don't wait for 3 months :)))
Wow scary stuff - getting worried about my 991.2 - great video
Sell it while the word is not out yet
If you take care of the car the car will take care of you. - The Transporter
Nik, you are a great salesman to convince the dealership to film there!!
'14 991.1 carrera s w/38,xxx mi. Had a minor problem with the sport exhaust system (warranty work) other than that so far so good, knock on wood.
Really enjoyed this one Nick. Well done. Had to a blast meeting a seasoned service pro. Thx for sharing the experience. Have a great rest of the week and here’s to hoping your issues are all solved by a new battery. Lol.
This shows newer more electronic heavy Porsche 911s to be avoided! I own a 997 C4S with literally ZERO issues since I’ve owned it now for almost 9yrs! 997 is truly a great compromise for comfort features plus keeping it as simple as possible closer to air cooled models.
Dont temp fate if its a 997.1 you could easily get a 10k bill for scored cylinders or a variety of other catatsrophic failures, I had a cherished 996 with this outcome. Just look how may are for sale advertised with re built engines , they are great cars to drive and look at but Porsche do get away with murder, the flat six is just not a solid/reliable design as a V6 or an inline 6 and a pain in the ass to access the engine .
KEYO Nonsense. 996 was crap, not 997! I’ve owned multiple V6 and Inline 6 sports cars and tracked most and ALL were a lot more unreliable than my 997. Including Audi and BMW designs. I’ve spent close to zero on maintenance with my car, tracking it 4-5 times a year, my M3 cost me thousands in 2yrs, Audi not so much better and both when tracked developed so many issues, needed mods, etc. 997, drive it to track, do some sessions, drive home and go back to work the next day!
@@AudiS4orce1 Loads of 997 .1 with engine rebuilds below life expectencey in the UK mate pretty same engine block as 996 (997.2 gen 2 does not apply has new engine 2009 onwards), BMW not the best reliability true, Im a Merc man mainly classics and have a R129 V8 one of the best engine blocks ever built for reliability.
KEYO half correct. 2004-2005 997 has same issues as 996 and Boxster, then it was updated in 2006-2008, then 2009-2011 has the DFI diff engine.
@@AudiS4orce1 We will have to agree to disagree because I was good friends/neighbour with my local Porsche independent and he told me all 997.1 are prone to bore scoring especially cylinder number 6 , and when he boroscoped my 996 2003 and diagnoised scoring , he advised me if I get another 911 to go for a 997.2 Gen 2 .Hence the large increase in premium from a gen 1 to gen 2. Turbo and GT3 are good void of these issues.
Well done on the interview. The tech was so honest...”analog guy in a digital world...”. The M badge introduced bad karma your car. You’ll need a witch doctor to get the car fixed!
Just a thought but I wonder if the electrical installs , radar and cameras etc, are draining the battery. When you were on vacation it did not get driven as much and lost charge?
Hey Nick, when you're given a lemon you should simply make lemonade. Your car would make an excellent lawn ornament. 🤣😂
I've had my 2017 Macan exactly 2 years now, and with the exception of one small recall that involved replacing a hose, and a tire blow out, I haven't had any issues with mine. I'm at 22k miles now.
Fingers crossed Nick. You never know you might get a new car
Geez Nick. Remember that awesome M4 you thrashed with "no problems " after 40k miles if I recall. Go BMW !
My dude is Gunther ... I can see where you went wrong :) 5 years (991 Turbo S), lost the high pressure fuel pump ... and that's it ...
what do we know about the propensity or lack there of, of the new 3.0 GDI engine to develop carbon deposits on the intake valves as is so common with other GDI engines?
Modern cars aren’t built like they were used to, my M140i has had multiple problems, similar electrical issues like your Porsche had.
All new cars are shitty. What should we drive?
Atleast the new BMW Engines are solid
@@Corsa15DT Nissan 370Z Nismo perhaps? I haven't heard of these build quality issues with that. Not sure about GTR.
Hey Nick... I was thinking about the electrical problems you've had with your 991.1 and 991.2. Did these issues manifest themselves after the installation of the dash cams and hardwired radar detector? Are they suspect? I watched your earlier videos and just seems odd that you've now had 2 cars with issues. Hope it works out and keep us posted.

Great video. And what a mechanic shop. Clean and beautiful cars.
I hope the battery takes care of things. That actually makes sense. I doubt this car is a lemon. Sounds like it's in excellent hands.
Wow, you do seem to have some issues. I have a 2012 991 and it's never been in the shop except for fluid changes. Sorry for your troubles, it must be frustrating.
Charles Jacobus My 2012 987.2 Boxster is the same. Only standard annual maintenance after 25000 miles.
@@alliejr I'm thinking it's the license plate that's causing the problem. :-)
The orange Targa sitting in the back looks pretty fine Nick!

Hahah you having some serious electrical issues, and the guy for the job is admitting himself he doesn’t know much about electronics and software??? Is this April fools? And did he really say the car was sitting for a week... so he will swap a battery that will do the trick?! OMG good luck Nick.
I think he may have just been camera shy.. you dont achieve master tech just winging it like it seemed
Even master techs can’t fix buggy software systems. Looks like Porsche are rushing software, if replacing parts doesn’t fix issues. Shouldn’t happen on anew car, even on warranty if you can afford it do you really want to spend your time chasing up electronics issues with a dealer?
Hey Nick, I see a trade in on the horizon. 🤣😂🤣
Time for that Morgan Aero 8
no doubt he will. He has to have the Porsche's 911 latest greatest....don't you know this?
Hopefully it is just the battery going bad and a replacement will take care of the problems. A weak battery in any of the cars today can cause all sorts of fault codes. Strange that they could not identify that right away however.
I’ve owned 3 P cars over the past 11 years, routine maintenance and 1 replaced battery ( my fault). I’ve just recently, as of July 2018 switched to Audi brand with a A6 Competition s- line. We’ll see how that pans out. Love the content, and hope 2019 is good to you and your stuffed animal family.🇨🇦
Its like deja vu... Your Porsche has some additional new features; lets hope it doesnt escalate to the tingly jacuzzi bath when it rains, with the flashing xmas tree dash and the smoking electronics when you go over a bump...
Clearly it's the grass sprouting from the underbody. Once mown, all should be tip-top!
The pink slip is waiting for Bill as soon as he shows up to work tomorrow
Nick, you should show a complete taking apart and putting back together of your Porsche. Like they do with guns.
The sound Nick. The sound..
trading it in for that carrera gt would fix all those problems for you.
Nick!! You are not alone..... the bays were full of ever make and model of Porsche😂
Cool to hear from a Porsche tech
Perhaps you should keep the badge and replace the Porsche by going back to an ‘M’ car Nick.🤣
Perhaps your friend drove the car hard when you went to New Zealand and damaged it..... Don't lend your car to anyone anymore.

Oh that M badge is total genius. Made my day.
A faulty German car you say, that's a surprise said nobody ever !

The two German cars I’ve owned in the last three years had warning lights coming on for no apparent reason. Turned out it was the battery on both at fault. Dealer tried to convince me it was because I wasn’t driving them enough & that the high amperage batteries were more than capable of delivering power to all the extra “gizmos” I had spec’d. Really ?!!!
Wrong - battery replaced, all warning lights out.
@@geofo60 I would say a bunch of unrelated lights means they are all connected. Obviously a electrical/computer issue.
The first lemon was how I found your channel, lemon #2 to further grow your channel! Congrats!!
I could watch that mechanic talk all day
The repair shop I use does not have nice tile in the service area. My shop has concrete that's had stains from the 1960's and pin up calendars from the eighties. I'm sure when you walk into the Porsche shop it smells of jasmine or patchouli. My shop smells of burnt oil, sweat and hot leather.
Wow, I'm contemplating buying one of these 911's, now I'm not so sure. If it's under warranty it's not too bad, but if you've got to put your hand in your pocket to fix it, it's not funny.
