Flowe was consistently caught out of position. He bit on the run and was very often caught off guard on a wheel route. He had 1 really great game against Fresno State a couple of years ago. Injuries really hindered his development. In 2022 he played in the most games of his career at Oregon. For the kid’s sake, I hope his transfer to Arizona works out for him. He might test the “once a Duck, always a Duck” adage.
Justin has shown the same ability at Arizona. However, he's also committed several killer penalties, including personal fouls, and has been lost in pass coverage. Justin is a terrific player who does not play always play smart. Interesting video featuring Justin's strenght and rushing ability. Jedd should try him at fullback, blocking in goal line.
Haven't watched any of him at all so this is just a shot in the dark, but took notice once he committed to Arizona. I think he rose to prominence throughout the high school ranks because of his aggressiveness and highlight worthy plays. But hope he doesn't stick to that formula needlessly, not every play has to be a highlight, but you can play with the aggressiveness but not at the expense of the team.
Not sure he can be labeled a "bust" quite yet because he does have three years of eligibility left, but to date he hasn't been an impact player in college. To be fair he got a season ending injury in game 1 of his freshman year & then the bad luck continued when he got another season ending injury in game 1 of his second year. Bad lock, or imo, Cristobal & Coach Feld(Cristobal's S&C coach) put too much mass on him & too quickly. The kid went from 215-200ish to 245ish in just a few months. He was ripped, but I don't think his frame should have been carrying that kind of mass. They should have gotten him up to around 230ish. I also think the extra mass made him a little more stiff & less fluid. I think having that much weight made him more susceptible to injury. The new staff had him shed weight, but at that point the damage was done. He lost a step to the two season ending injuries(one to knee, one to ankle) & he wasted those two years of development & pratices. But I think his biggest issue is between the ears. Apparently work ethic was not an issue & was a grinder, but you can tell he had no clue what he was doing on the field in an actual defensive scheme. He was no longer bigger, stronger & more athletic than everyone so he couldn't just fly around & make plays on instinct like he did in HS. He was a huge liability in coverage. If you watch film from this past season you will see opposing offenses specifically went after him in the passing game & he was almost always exploited. He would botch his assignments often. Whether it was in coverage, or playing the wrong gap, or when he was supposed to stay in zone he'd take it upon himself to try & make the big play & rush the QB leaving a ton of open space, etc, etc... Like I said, it looked like he had no clue what he was doing. I think he can still be a solid player if he can stay in the same defense for the rest of his collegiate career & he actually learns the playbook. But it's questionable if he can do so. I could see him just playing his backyard/high school style ball & never quite get it. He has a ways to go, but I'd maybe wait to label him a "bust" until after his collegiate career.
He is not even starting at Arizona. Lanning told him to hit the portal because he never stuck to his assignment. He would freelance all the time and he got benched toward the end of last season.
Yep a lot of hype cuz he plays with energy. Doesn’t read offense well and gets burned in passing game. Also made a lot of dumb penalties that he also did this year as well.
I am an Oregon fan. I think what went wrong in 2022 was that he just wasn't moving that well. Then they stopped playing him. Flowe needs some time to get his running ability back, if he can. I hope he does well with Arizona. Sorry it didn't work out, but that is how it goes sometimes.
The recruiting ranking systems are so subjective. It depends when and where guys develop. The earlier they do the higher they are rated but only if the come from certain regions of the country. The recruiting agencies often neglect certain regions because their recruiting "geniuses" are always in the South and that's why they favor those kids. 3 Star kids from other parts of the country can turn into All Americans and 1st round picks with the right coaching and development.
From what I’ve seen from watching him play is that he has trouble chasing down the runners to the sideline, and often kind of dives at air. I think he’s good though.
Everyone knew he was on steroids in high school. His body just couldn’t hold the weight. He is a good athlete naturally but only about 6.2 205. There is a reason he was squatting 600 lbs at 17 year olds at 6.2 height. When he got to Oregon he was 233 lbs and last year he was around 215 from him getting off the juice due to injuries. The other huge issue is Oregon only plays 2 lbs in their system. So he and Sewell were asked to cover the whole field instead of quarters or 1/3 the field.
Wouldn't you want to continue taking juice while healing and rehabbing so you can heal quicker? Do you have any proof of this kid failing a PED test or did you just make that up because he stole your GF whenever he wanted?
I really liked Justin at Oregon. His injuries have really taken a toll on him. The game has shifted from the mauling tank MLBs. Especially ones with mobility issues. The game kind of passed him by. Hopefully he gets his body right and can regain his potential.
The only issue with Justin Flowe at Oregon was injuries. In the brief time he was able to be on the field he was dominant. I wonder if his transfer has more to do with playing in heat than anything else. I wish Justin Flowe well (except for when Arizona meets Oregon) and as you will often here from my Duck brethren, "Once a Duck, Always a Duck!"
if u watch the video i dont say one negative word about him and i talk about how i think he will be a star at Arizona. I assume you saw the title, and then went down and commented without watching!
What went wrong is he had a shitty S&C staff that caused injury issues (like the rest of the team that last year under MC), and I also truthfully think he’s not a 5star guy. He’s a guy who was a man amongst children, but is now just among others his type, and hasn’t adjusted. I think moving to a G5 conference was a better idea, but I’m hoping he breaks out for ‘Zona
Ridiculous topic. Justin Flowe is doing a GREAT job at Arizona. He is an amazing athlete and hard hitter. Arizona is now the 2nd most approved Defense in the NCAA!
Foreal tho But So many players out here in CA Especially being a Top Prospect they always seem to disappear or fade away in College or the NFL its starting to become normal if you pay attention to them and follow there careers you would know what im talking about again not everybody but the Majority i wonder why this is Maybe because the skill Gap in the HS Football here and Teams are just so bad.
That's why the smart players leave the woke West Coast to make men out of themselves because they don't want to end up homeless and sleeping under a bridge like everyone else.
Facts & they are already at their peak because they can train January to January. Once the kids from cold states get all yr round training in college they end up better most times
He was a 5 ⭐️ in HS, but college is a different animal! Outside of some injuries, he was out of position ALOT and his game speed and tackling were Weak. Plus, his LB partner Sewell was out playing him. JF is a good athlete and a man among boys in high school, but he’s not and has never been a solid consistent LB. And, he does make a lot of unmerited penalties 🤔
Reggie ball, Hackney from UAB, Woodson from Kentucky, McGahee from Miami, Price from Washington, Edwards from Appalachian state, Pinkney from East Carolina, and booty from usc
He is definitely a bust! But you need to cover Noah Sewell as well because he is a bigger bust than flowe. I never saw Sewell make a solo tackle in any game. The runner or receiver would jet past him or he would miss the tackle
Sewell had a down year this past season but his first couple years he was arguably oregons best defensive player… he wasn’t a bust… he’s projected to be a 2nd round draft pick 😂
His problem was he went to a top football school and not one who would really use and develop him. He would have been better off going to a no name football school. These top football schools is where 4-5 star players sit and rot on the bench as a backup player.
I just cant imagine how you can't find a place on the field for an athlete like this. I dont care how you run a defense. This is one it hurts yo lose, and i think we may regret it when they play arizona.
@@mylespoun9709 that could be i think a lot of that is do yo how they used him. Its just hard to imagine that you cant find a better way to utilize an athlete like that. I wasnt all that impressed at how they used the linebackers in general last year, and coverage was horrible all around. I guess they just needed different type of athlete for what they are doing.
Highschool coaches make the mistake all the time of letting freshman play varsity especially linebackers and running backs. They take too much punishment early on which leads to injuries in college. Ive seen coaches put 4 star running backs on play counts once they get there scholarship offers. One more fact is some guys are built for certain schemes. Justin is built to attack the line of scrimmage which is were he should be doing most of.
OCs know what they're doing and sometimes scheme an LB out of whatever one thing you want him to focus on. And the flip side of your freshman on varsity concern, the video acknowledges the safety issue of, basically, a young man crushing 14 year old kids at the freshman level. Plenty of studs do what you worry about and DON'T have injury issues beyond the norm.
Def over hyped. Every play he is in competition for camera time not the other team. Even when he is only getting an asst tackle , he jumps up does the Ray Lewis whatever and looks for any type of camera time
Isn’t lil homie going into his junior season? If he has an outstanding year he’ll be a top draft pick. Kinda how it’s worked for decades. Best High School player I’ve ever seen is Whitney Lewis and he will always be the biggest bust, sadly
His game was never really as high level as it was made out to be he was just bigger and more athletic than anyone he played in hs his tackling and coverage skills were always not that good
The truth is he's way too small and he hasn't physically matured much since high school. Saw him play at Oregon and he's maybe 6ft tall 220lb. You can be a straight up bully on the high school field at that size but in college you won't have the length to shed blocks. He looked like a DB standing on the sideline.
From what I recall, dude came down to Oregon and Clemson. Flowe decided on Oregon. Clemson went with Trenton Simpson. Now Simpson is going to the NFL and Flowe is going to AZ. That, is what you call "a 5-star bust" All good - someone'll pick him up on the NFL.

if u watch the video i dont say one negative word about him and i talk about how i think he will be a star at Arizona. I assume you saw the title, and then went down and commented without watching!
@@ScottFisherCFB fix the title then
Pretty sad how his career has turned out as an Oregon fan
Watch him become a 1st round NFL stud when he receives the proper coaching.
@@roris5882 I’d be happy for him if revived his career
@@roris5882ya Arizona is so renowned for their proper coaching
Oregon wastes careers good thing he left b4 it was to late
@roris5882 lolol
I knew it was coming soon
Flowe gon bounce back i promise
U lied lmao
@ he ain’t done yet
What went wrong is he had a shitty S&C staff that caused injury issues (like the rest of the team that last year under MC), and I also truthfully think he’s not a 5star guy. He’s a guy who was a man amongst children, but is now just among others his type, and hasn’t adjusted. I think moving to a G5 conference was a better idea, but I’m hoping he breaks out for ‘Zona
Eric Andre?
Calling him a bust so soon especially after the injuries is way too premature
So how is he a bust?
Ridiculous topic. Justin Flowe is doing a GREAT job at Arizona. He is an amazing athlete and hard hitter. Arizona is now the 2nd most approved Defense in the NCAA!
Foreal tho But So many players out here in CA Especially being a Top Prospect they always seem to disappear or fade away in College or the NFL its starting to become normal if you pay attention to them and follow there careers you would know what im talking about again not everybody but the Majority i wonder why this is Maybe because the skill Gap in the HS Football here and Teams are just so bad.
Underrated comment
How you call him a bust and go on to say that he literally balled out in every game he played?
You’re going to have to erase this and remake it in about 10 months 😂…. #FloweGang ball out bro 🔥🏈🏆
He is not a but he still has 3 years of eligibility left and he has pretty good stats for being in the bench
Bust
@ nope I don’t think he’s a bust he was hit with a lot of injury’s I think if he can stay healthy he’ll do good busted percent
Who should I cover next?
Georgia tech and Brent key
The rise of Troy university
Justin Gilbert
Sewell of Oregon
Sewell is a rising draft prospect! Far better then him
He made big penalties this season and actually missed a good amount of tackles.
Will this video didn't age very well because he tore it up with Arizona and is a strong contender as preseason all-conference in the Big 12.
Lol I saw this video after I just saw on campus today
i played him in high school on the all white team
He was injured alot life happens
He was promised something through the N.I.L. that was never followed through with… could be cash, playing time time, or just winning.
Leaving oregon to zona and still hasn’t lived up to his hype at all this year, zip zero zelch, not even a first or 2nd rounder at this point.
He has some screws loose
Can tell that much just by looking at him honestly..
Hard to keep him on the field when he was horrible in coverage, took many bad angles, and missed gaps
He's like a more underwhelming stiffer vontaze Burfict
He still has 3 years of eligibility smh keep the same energy
All he did was bodyslam smaller people in highschool and people thought he would be the next ray lewis 😂
He should have went to SC. We take care of our players
Def over hyped. Every play he is in competition for camera time not the other team. Even when he is only getting an asst tackle , he jumps up does the Ray Lewis whatever and looks for any type of camera time
He went to Oregon that’s why
🙏💙
Calling him a bust after only a year is crazy
Sounded like Scott was just reading from a script....😑😑
He has a big ego and celebrates after every tackle like a sack
Isn’t lil homie going into his junior season? If he has an outstanding year he’ll be a top draft pick. Kinda how it’s worked for decades. Best High School player I’ve ever seen is Whitney Lewis and he will always be the biggest bust, sadly
His game was never really as high level as it was made out to be he was just bigger and more athletic than anyone he played in hs his tackling and coverage skills were always not that good
He's been injured a lot
He's gonna be a 1st round pick.. Dude is a monster when he is healthy..
When he's healthy, all he's good at is hitting, and times he's hit too late resulting in penalty
The truth is he's way too small and he hasn't physically matured much since high school. Saw him play at Oregon and he's maybe 6ft tall 220lb. You can be a straight up bully on the high school field at that size but in college you won't have the length to shed blocks. He looked like a DB standing on the sideline.
There’s linebacker smaller who will ball out . He simply just don’t have the fundamental part down pack
He needs to be moved to SS, he has Taylor Mays type attributes.
I feel bad for justin, I see my son in him
From what I recall, dude came down to Oregon and Clemson.
Flowe decided on Oregon. Clemson went with Trenton Simpson.
Now Simpson is going to the NFL and Flowe is going to AZ.
That, is what you call "a 5-star bust"
All good - someone'll pick him up on the NFL.
He needs to move to DE
This didn’t age well
I'm from West Covina.. EVERYBODY I mean EVERYBODY wanted to go to Oregon and be a Duck 🦆!!
