      But, i downgraded the pressure from 36 to 34-33 and ride has improved majorly!

      I had the same issue with the rattling noise from the front passenger vents area, I feel like it's due to the air fresheners we used, so I tried to put some sticky tac where the vents moving part are and seems like it resolved most of the nosie.

    I use this as my "travel" vehicle, 2020 CX-30 Preferred, 53K miles and have been absolutely blessed with performance 33-34 mpg and 95% highway miles from Upstate, NY to Boston and back every week since 9/2020. It is stable on the road, snow and rain equally controlled and honestly I will continue buying this vehicle again in the future. I have not heard any abnormal sounds after this many miles but again, they are predominantly hwy and very little stop and go city driving. The sound system rivals the HK in my Benz. I cannot say enough about the quality of this vehicle, probably the best car I have ever owned and that includes Honda, Landrover, Mercedes, BMW's. Advice: Buy one of these.

Not sure I’d like it as much if I had kids but for hauling groceries, it does a great job. I also really like how the drivers seat kind of has a cockpit feel with the air vents facing you and everything. Some people don’t like the infotainment is not touch screen but I love it. Helpful video! I’m one month and 1,300 miles in on my CX-30 turbo and loving it so far. It’s interesting to hear about some of the creaks and rattles you’ve experienced. I’m very averse to rattles etc. in cars, which played a huge role in my decision to trade in my prior Subaru for the Mazda. The Crosstrek seemed to develop a new rattle each time I drove it, while the CX-30’s ride is very controlled and solid. Hoping it stays that way.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus 3 роки тому +5

      I’m on my 5 Mazda now, but only on my 1st new on that I leased in June of this year. It’s a CX-5 Grand Touring. My parents usually pass down their Mazda’s to me and get new ones that they also lease. Anyway, mine have all been 4-cylinders and I haven’t had any rattles or squeaks that I can recall. They stay tight for a long time and don’t tend to use oil. I have some small complaints with my new CX-5 and those are, I find the seats to be a little hard, beautiful and the leather is great, but not near as soft as Nissan or Volkswagens as of late. Mazda didn’t put a light in my glove box which is new to me but trivial because the overhead map lights are more than enough to illuminate that area at night. Also, it would be nice if both stalks on the steering wheel were backlit so that I can see where the wiper mode is set or which headlight settings are selected so I can easily glance and turn the knob toward me or away from me based on my desired setting. Hyundai does a good job with this. when the interior of a vehicle is dark at night it takes too long to find the correct setting unless I leave the headlights on AUTO which is not always where I need them to be set. The same thing applies with the windshield wipers. As James noted, the clear lens over the gauge cluster is soft plastic and scratched when you wipe the dust off. I’ve learned to use a clean, wet micro fiber cloth with light pressure. Also, I wish the brakes would bite and stop the car much more aggressively like the new Volkswagens that I have driven. I hand wash my CX-5 and don’t ever run it through the automatic car washes. I only have 5,000 miles on this crossover now. I drove the CX-30 turbo with AWD and it put a smile on my face and I would have loved to have it but I do travel sometimes and I feared the the cargo capacity might come up short. My CX-5, all of them, are still made in Japan and I can certainly feel it and I appreciate it: but I wouldn’t still buy Mazda’s even if they are all built in Mexico where I believe assembly meets excellent standards.

      @@JamesPlaysWithCars the CX50 appears to be aimed at a different audience than the CX5. It continues a lot of mazda design language but it doesn't appear on specs to be aimed at being a more premium 5. I'm wagering the CX70 will actually be more of a replacement for the CX5 and the CX90 will grow accordingly to be a more comfortable 3 row closer in size to large SUV's vs midsize. The CX70 will be larger, but probably a little smaller than the CX9 in length and make for a better small to midsize for the US in comparison to the CX5.

    Owner of a non turbo '21 CX 30 for the last year and a half. I enjoy the CX 30 every time I drive it. Occasionally use the sequential gearbox when I feel racy, along with the sport mode. Mostly I'm in automatic and normal driving mode which equals a smooth, pleasant ride with more than adequate power. The interior/exterior of the CX 30 is beautiful and well made. Some down sides, if you feel they are, are small interior and blind spots. To each their own, I don't mind those issues at all. The CX 5 is larger, but again to me, larger isn't always better as the smaller CX 30 feels personal to me. No touch screen, again to me, is no big deal. The rotary dial for functions is just fine. Very safe car with lots of safety features available. Would I buy another CX 30? Absolutely! Mazda makes quality vehicles and my local dealer has been very good with any service needs to include accessories.

The only thing I could add is that on the Select model the center counsel is a matte black it does not show scratches or wear in tear like the slightly shinier almost piano black that you have. You’ve just explained almost the exact wearing issues I have experienced after over two years and just under 10k miles use - the speed dials cheap plastic cover really is the most disappointing part for me and does require a redesign imo. Now to the good points, mine is a UK spec 2.0ltr skyactiv x which returns mid 40’s mpg on average - excellent. As a daily driver use it is sublimely smooth and fun to drive with excellent and assured balance on all road conditions. The rest of the interior and leather are beautifully designed. The exterior design is also minimalist and wonderfully sculptured beating most other vehicles in the good looking category. I love this car!

      How did you get scratches on your gauge cluster? Im not doubting you guys when you say it could use better materials it just seems really weird to me that something that you're normally not touching gets scratched. Is it so soft that it will get scratches when you're wiping it down during cleaning for example? Im asking because im currently in the market for a new car and a cx30 seems like my current top choice for what I'm looking for.

    • @harryrammer
      @harryrammer Рік тому

      @@rays5163 that’s exactly it. It occasionally requires the dust build up to be wiped off and no matter how soft your duster is, it’s the dust which causes the scratches on the cheap plastic! However, I just noticed the other day by accident what exacerbates this problem for the driver. It is the angle the plastic cover faces the driver. This needs to change. If I look at the dials from a different angle to my normal driving position, the scratches disappear!

    I have the exact same car in red, and I have a little over 21k miles on it now. I love love it and its such a joy to drive. the 2 things that happened over the past 21k miles
    1. the fuel gauge at one point was a bit faulty, and the software estimating how many miles are left was off with its estimation. Again that was a while ago and somehow it resolved on its own
    2. True, it doesn't require premium fuel, but I really find that the engine drives smoother and is more responsive when using gas containing no ethanol. Also I found with this type of gas I get a better mileage. In general my mileage was anywhere between 26-28 miles per gal with ethanol containing gas, last 2 tank fills with ethanol free premium gas and driving mainly city roads I got a bit over 30 MPG. Again some might not see it worth getting that extra few MPG when weighing in the price difference between different kinds of gas, but this is what I found out.

    Also, for cleaning that in the future I would suggest getting an E-cloth to use for the cleaning They really do work great and you only need water in conjunction with it.
    The rattle that you mentioned coming from the passenger side dash area Is something that I have seen mentioned on CX-30 forums and other places. I don't believe that anyone including the dealership has been able to figure out exactly where that rattle is coming from.
    I just bought mine on April 1st 2024 so I'm glad to hear that yours is still holding up quite well. Thanks for posting this video I appreciate it

    James, I had the same door creak that you describe in the video. It took me a while to figure it out, but the door latch was the issue. There is no adjustment for the strike, but a little lube on the latch where it grabs the strike bar quieted the door.

    I don’t have a Cx-30 but I do have a 2018 Mazda6 signature. Red exterior with black interior. I couldn’t agree more with how simple and elegant the interiors are in the Mazda’s! Mine is close to 30k and so far only maintenance I’ve done was synthetic oil changes every 5k miles and replace the windshield wipers. My only complaint about the car is that the paint is sort of thin so rock chips are noticeable and that the brakes do squeak at the beginning but go away after driving the car. I would recommend ceramic coating the car to protect the paint. Love my Mazda and I wouldn’t trade it for anything besides the new upcoming Mazda6 in the future of 2023!

I "subscribed" for future updates on your CX-30 and other reviews because of your honest no nonsense style. I'm shopping CX30 vs. RAV4, Corolla Cross. Maybe consider Kia Seltos (2.0L eng only) to replace current car. I've only test drive a few turbo models in the past. The turbo lag even 1-2 seconds drives me nuts. I'd rather get a bigger 4cyl as Mazda does w/ fewer mpg than deal with the lag from a smaller turbo. Keep up the good work.

    Good video thanks. Waiting on my CX 30 to be built. Everyone should count to 30 just a straight 123...30 before putting there car into any gear and driving. Even modern cars need the time to slightly warm up and oil all the internals. This helps prevent early engine wear and noisy engines. I see so many jump in turn the key and take off hard and I cringe.

    I just bought a 2021 Subaru crosstrek limited here in Wisconsin, got 823 miles on it now, the reason I bought the crosstrek over the cx30, is I get 34 mpg hwy with a 16.5 gallon gas tank, more ground clearance, same hp/torque with the 2.5L boxer, and resale value is better than the mazdas.

      The difference in interiors is very noticable. I'm 6'2" (188cm) and the driver seat is much more comfortable on the CX-30 than the Crosstrek. My neighbor has a new Crosstrek and gets about the same mileage as me. We both may have a bit of a lead foot.

    • @haroldbeauchamp3770
      @haroldbeauchamp3770 2 роки тому

      The resale value is a result of supply. Subaru is one of the most affected by the chip shortage. It’s producing merely fractions of that it used to. And that’s a huge red flag, as before they were a very small manufacturer by most standards. Subaru’s are similar to Jeep. High resale value but it does not equate to reliability or quality. As both are mediocre in terms of long term reliability.

    I've owned a 2021 CX-30 Turbo AWD Premium for over a year and would really like for it to have a bigger fuel tank, 12.7 gallons (13.5 gallons for FWD non-turbo) will give you less than 250 miles between fill-ups. I love driving this car and got the Turbo AWD for that reason, so of course I could drive slower to get more miles out of the small tank, but if that were my concern I would've gotten the non-turbo FWD, which can easily give you more than 300 miles per tank with its bigger fuel tank. Other than that, I just enjoy driving this little CUV, I know what it is and more importantly, what it's not, so can't really complain about it being small in the rear or having little cargo area. My other concern would be lack of training or information on Mazda dealerships. I installed the OEM interior light kit (I used to be an ASE certified auto technician) and they looked at me like I had three heads when I asked them to add the light kit to vehicle's system, so I could manage it using infotainment control. They also had no idea what I was talking about when I asked to change the setting that cuts A/C compressor at more than 50% throttle to more than 65% throttle, which I know is an available option. But definitely happy with the driving experience, Mazda hit the nail on the head tuning the turbo engine for torque at lower RPM's.

    I own 2021 Mazda CX 30 AWD turbo. Purchased it in March, 2021...7 months ago....18000 kilometers ago. I love the suspensions, even though it can come across as it kind of too firm...this is just me , I like cars that are not soft. Steering feeling is superb, you will like it. The engine power...hmmm...250 HP and 310 lbs./ft...excellent...pools like and diesel...that's the best part of it...like an a train. Transmission shifts are crisp and clear...I don't miss more gears. It feels more like a dual clutch transmission than any other transmission other than a dual clutch that I experienced. even though it's only a 6 speeds. Other complaints is the electronic parking brake whit holding the parking brake until you press your gas pedals ...at which the whole vehicle lunges forward (or rearwards) like an a animal trying to jump....not very impressed with that. The other peeve i have is the friging key fob being way too beg for the service it provides.
