Very comprehensive review! I have watched dozens of 2021 Bronco Sport reviews and at least half a dozen 2021 "big brother" or topless Bronco reviews. You provided an in-depth product review. I now want to buy the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder version for my wife. It appears to me that it is necessary to opt for the Badlands edition to get that engine. Just hope I can find one. Let the search begin!
Congratulations! Nice review and I like it a lot too even though I've had bad experiences with Ford reliability in the 80s this vehicle is almost making me consider one again. The potential big issue that I have with it is my youngest son is 17 and about 6 foot 2. I don't know if he can be comfortable in the back seat on a day-long road trip or even our hour long weekend commutes. It seems like they would've been better off taking away an inch or two of back cargo space for more backseat room or even a two inch longer wheelbase. Anyway, we'll have him sit in one on the lot and see how it is. I also don't like that the only interior seating color on the badlands seems to be the same brown I've been living with in my Q5 for the past 28 months. I'm honestly ready for a change with that. lol It's strange with those seat color options because if you choose a heated steering wheel (like I want to do) you are then forced into brown leather seats. Not saying they look bad in brown but I'd much prefer the gray seats.
@@groomingchief6574 Thanks so much. I've owed many, since the 70's when I started driving. First one was a 65 Fastback to the latest a 19 Ford GT. You might say I bleed blue :).
I have the Bronco Sport Big bend and the area51 color. I’m getting 30mpg on the highway and about 25mpg around town. Runs great, fun to drive. I’m really happy with mine. It’s great.
The styling on this vehicle will not go out of fashion like any other SUV because it hasn't followed the current fashion on the market , it has a sensible practical uncluttered look and will be ageless .
My mom loves it and she is 67 the reason i took it was for safety issues top of it's class is a great seller for sure and I'm not worried if she takes the vehicle.
Absolutely love the exterior styling! The interior is gets a 7. Love the two tone leather seats, but need more color options, especially on the First Edition model. Dashboard a tad boring, and it needs a shifter instead of a washing machine dial. The First Edition needs more color options inside and out. Specifically the Alto Blue with the 2 tone tan interior! Overall it looks like my next car. It will be next year before I buy. Hopefully by then I’ll know if they turn out to be crap.
I'm glad you mentioned your height in the video, as I'm the same height. I haven't seen a Bronco Sport in person yet, and was curious about both how tall it is as well as the rear legroom with my relative driver's seat position. Overall - really nice review. Subscribed.
Awesome video Mike 🙂, thank you. Bronco Sport is a proper off road adventure vehicle, it's not no Chevy Trailblazer or Rogue Sport. There's also a bottle opener in the rear cargo to the right and the raised roof not only provides great headroom for passengers but two good size bikes will fit back there. Excellent video and content. Mike, what's your day career?
Great review. Unfortunately, I got tired of waiting for this vehicle to come out so bought a 2020 Toyota 4Runner in December 2019. With only 4,900 miles on it, a year later, I won't be getting rid of it, my 85th vehicle.
Ford was wise to dump their Car line and concentrate on SUV's i.e. The Bronco Lineup! Ford did a fantastic job with the Bronco. Ford knows SUV's and especially Big Trucks. (F-150) Go FORD!!! By the way. I love the color of this Bronco Sport. The guy did a great job on this Video, also.
One of the first things that came to mind when I first saw this Bronco Sport was that it was a direct competitor to the Jeep Renegade, more specifically the Renegade Trailhawk. Only difference is this will likely be more reliable.
Jeep is much better off-road especially trail edition ones. Jeep has real low 2 speed differentials that will be much better than this "electronic differential with electronic brake locking" that the sport Bronco has. Now the real full size Bronco will be different. Save your money and buy real true Bronco if you want to try to get to something as nice as what Jeep has, but want something new and different. The baby Bronco is nice but hard to justify cost for what you get compared to the competition.
I want one of those. 4x4 turbocharge non cvt. Versatile, strike anywhere kind of vehicle with a corona beer opener at the back. What more would you ask for.
Great review! I'm in the process of setting up a test drive for a loaded Badlands in my area. I am very torn on what I want to do next for a new vehicle... I seem to be stuck between this and a 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium.
I think you'll find the technology in the 4Runner to be very dated. They are a great looking SUV, no doubt, but Toyota isn't real big on change. If it isn't broken why fix it type mentality. Unfortunately this also means they tend not to innovate as well.
@@williampineo4074 I agree. It comes down to having a new platform with significantly more technology and comfort features at a slightly cheaper price, or having less technology but with unmatched reliability at a small premium. I was able to spend a bit of time inside a Bronco Sport Badlands, but it didn't seem like enough. I spent about the same amount of time with a '21 ORP 4runner and was able to instantly put it on my list of possible next vehicles.
@Red I can't speak for the smaller engine in the Bronco Sport, but the 2.0 in the Badlands and First Edition is the same motor as the one from the Focus ST which I know several people with well over 100k miles and no issues... Some of which have been tuned for most of it. I'd be more worried about Ford's rust problem than the motor blowing up tbh.
I own a Mazda CX 3, not a CX 30, but still very similar in size and I parked it right beside a Bronco Sport today, at a local dealership and the Bronco is so much larger it isnt even a comparison. My hatchback is large enough for a suitcase and a few bags of groceries. My dogs cant even sit comfortably unless I lay the seats down and the Bronco would eliminate that problem instantly. I'm going to trade my mazda for the Badlands Bronco Sport just as soon as it hits the dealership.
It suddenly goes high in my list. This with class ii trailer 2200lbs and bike carier thules, table in the trunk, moonroof, big screen, camera front and back, 4x4
Did you review the Kia Sorrento Xline? Would you recommend the bronco sport badlands over the sorrento? I live in Denver, Colorado and I'm trying to decide between the two. I need something rugged enough to get to any 95% of trailheads but also something with decent acceleration/lowend torque.

I totally agree with what you said about the crossover segment at the beginning. Great job...I wish I’d have waited and gotten one of these. I Love my adventure RAV4 but this looks so cool. I’ve seen a few around town over the last few weeks and they are so cool looking. I do wish they had made it a tad bigger (about the same interior size as the TRD RAV4) as if they had, it would be the perfect crossover. Oh and I agree on the rear legroom as those of us smaller folks don’t need tons of space anyway. I have to say Jeep has some serious competition on the way and this is just the "baby" Bronco we're talking here. This is the first Bronco I spotted tonight around 8:20ish.
Thanks for the fantastic review! Could you please comment on which exterior colour was on the Badlands that you tested? It looks like a toss-up between Area 51 or Alto Blue?
They’ve clearly copied some of the best design elements of the Land Rover lineup; including the rugged boxy look and the side windows. It’s still too early to say anything about the overall performance and the reliability factor, though. But it definitely looks great, has a solid name hermitage, and it’s affordable enough to fly off the dealerships. Not to mention, Ford has done an excellent job promoting it as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Hype ‘em and dump ‘em.
Hey another question I had, I’m not sure if you went over it in your review or not but with the wireless charging pad what size phone fits on it? Or what are the dimensions of the pad?
Is there a severe blind spot to the driver for the view from the driver seat through the rear passenger side rear window? What made it necessary to put a visual obstruction on that rear quarter glass side panel. I'm a driver who likes to have that view for lane changes in traffic.
If was meant to be like a jeep I understand the size but if supposed to be more then a jeep but an suv then should be bigger on inside not smaller like a car
I thought I was the only one who noticed that. It’s one thing if there are obstructions limiting the usable size but it still looks about six inches less than it could be.
Yes it comes in classic white or blood red, it also comes with gloves that don't fit, and a specialty feature unique to the OJ Simpson model is the Cargo area is big enough to hold two bodies.

A good strategy might be to wait a year to see if they put some rebates on it. Badlands starts at 32,600. I agree -- I would wager that even a new offering Bronco will be more reliable than a Jeep.
Comparing the upcoming 2021 Forester Sport (w/turbo) to the Bronco Sport I would say it comes down to 4 differences in this order: Looks, Roominess, Economy & Price. The Bronco looks better and is more unique, but it seems much smaller inside- especially the rear seat, and gets about 10mpg less than the Forester and will cost about $5k more (loaded). So depending on what is important to you those seem the major differentiators. I am very very tall and need the seat at max rear travel which turns the Bronco Sport into a 3-seater for me, vs in the Forester I can sit in the rear seat when the front is adjusted for me. I personally think the Bronco is MUCH better looking, but alas it just seems too small inside.
Poor man’s Range Rover not a baby RR? Compact Utility Vehicle. CUV. It’s a lot like the subcompact compact vehicles, but it’s better. At the end of the day it’s a Ford Forester built in Hermosillo, Mexico without a CVT and better engine/transmission and electronic off-road controls.
I drove to my local Ford dealer to check the Bronco out. They had a sport. Very disappointed to actually see one after all the hype. It looked cheap, like something GM would build. No thanks and I drive a Lariat
However, at $38k everything is included with the Sport Badlands while at that price range you’re looking at a well equipped Big Bend trim which isn’t even a mid-tier model. Also, I don’t think a majority of buyers looking at a Bronco Sport are seriously looking at a Bronco
Don't give them excuses for amenities because it's an "off road" vehicle. It's not ultra capable, being the sport, and you're also sitting in "luxurious" leather seats, in that off road vehicle. What they did, is not, "intended purpose," it's "vaguely larger profit margin." I find this vehicle fairly average, but with better looks. But the theme for cars these days is to look better, so it'll just look average soon. Kia made a mini van look cool, I mean.
The back is no bigger than the Mazda cx7. I need something bigger. The gas mileage is no better than my 1997 v8 Ford F150. Must be the 4WD that kill the gas mileage. The price is to high. All said I would but a Toyota 4runner TRD off road premium over the bronco sport.
It's still a Ford and if it's anything like the problematic Ford Explorer I don't believe anyone would want one for the expensive price compaired to what you can get with a Hyundai or Kia. Plus the Hyundai and Kia have much better warranty.
No problems with Explorer. That was only a temporary production start-up issue; it's fixed now from what I hear. This new vehicle is being launched under a new CEO who actually understands the car business (not the Steelcase Furniture transplant that Bill Ford hired to keep the seat warm when the revised Explorer was launched).
I’m a 65 year old whose dream car is a 74 Ford Bronco, this new Bronco Sport looks fantastic 💙

@@daylearceneaux4083 It seems you are right. I can’t seem to be able to select 2.0 for Big Band or Outer Bank. Wow. 2.0 is only for higher trims :-\
Can the Bronco Sport be flat towed ????
Question, does the sport offer the options of removing the door and roof? Or is that only the full size Bronco?
Just the full size.
Does this car have a dual clutch?
In Boston? Really where are you guys?
The dealership is located in Acton, Massachusetts which is about 20-25 miles north west of Boston.
Ford Bronco Sport or Subaru Forester XT? honest opinion pls?
The reviewer is 5’ 5” and average built. It makes the vehicle seem a little bigger than it really is.
He's not really 5' 5". He's 5' 2". I did the calculations based on the size of the Bronco Sport.
@@sappyjohnson The guy in the video said 5'5", so I took him at his word.
@@zaq55 Never take someone on the internet at his word. It took me hours to analyze his actual height. You're welcome.
13:15 for 2 cup holders
Not all hero’s wear capes
It looks like a monster next to you beside it !
Short guy problems lol. From certain angles it looks small and compact and then others it looks like a rugged SUV. Very deceptive for sure
Wish you could have parked this next to a Compass just get a size comparison. This does look big for a sub compact. Very impressed.
I'd like a lift that would fit meaty 32x11.5" tires right from the dealership...
The only comparison is a Cherokee trailhawk
Look great when is it coming to Ireland
I drove to my local Ford dealer to check the Bronco out. They had a sport. Very disappointed to actually see one after all the hype. It looked cheap, like something GM would build. No thanks and I drive a Lariat
For $38,000 you can buy the full size Bronco model.
Kia made a mini van look cool, I mean.
idk about that engine though... i feel like a skateboard will pass it
Congratulation 🌺🌸
I think it's ugly. Especially the back. Maybe it looks better in person. Or maybe because I have a cherokee trailhawk that's pretty cute. Lol
The cherokees are pretty awesome lol. There's two suvs are both great!
The badlands badge looks like a uterus. Ironically, the inside of the bronco sport is pretty cramped. 🥴
