2021 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Review - RUGGED!

- Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
- 2021 Ford Bronco Sport review by The Straight Pipes. The Ford Bronco Sport Badlands is pumping out 250 hp and 277 lb-ft torque from a 2L turbo 4 cylinder. Sitting at $45,549 CAD, would this be your pick over the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, Jeep Compass Trailhawk, Jeep Renegade Trailhawk, Toyota Rav4 Trail, Toyota Rav4 TRD Off Road?

Yeah looks great in the blueish grey
This is a nice teaser but the full size bronco takes my heart
The Sport is just as important as the full size. I have a feeling it might sell more than the full size.
First model year of any completely new platform is almost always a problem. The kind of problems that can't be fixed. Unless you're leasing this, stay the hell away or you'll very likely regret it.
That definitely a win
Shout out to all my wheel distribution gang in the comments - Jakub
i’m always looking at it in my MDX 😂
I like it in the Edge when there is bad weather.
When I drive Q4 Maseratis, I always choose the distribution screen😎
I thought I was the only one lolol
I’m always looking in my RDX!!
Honestly, the Bronco Sport seems like a cool vehicle! It is perfect for the people who want that kind of "Lifestyle SUV" but who never go off-road. Plus it keeps the boxy aesthetic.
Except the badlands is for off-roading lol

If you turn off the lane alerts (where it yells at you if you start to drift out of your lane), the digital speedometer will get bigger and move to the center. You can toggle it with a button on the end of the turn signal lever. Source: I own one.
There is a large badland area in Alberta, particularly in the valley of the Red Deer River, where Dinosaur Provincial Park is located, as well as in Drumheller, where the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology is located.
I predict these will be very popular at the Florida beaches
I'm already seeing these here in Denver
I live in South Florida by the beaches and I want one

James did...lol
best start to the long weekend.
The production Bronco looks way better than the concept from the movie. That never happens! ❤️
That concept was not by ford. Some company made it up.
I for one appreciate the lights dim down when in parking mode, too many people pull up behind you or directly in front of you parked in a parking lot at night where you are eating food or just pulled over watching riverdale park and you got some clown in a higher height car with the lights fully on blasting in your side mirrors making things annoying.
Saw my first new Bronco on the road honestly rlly good looking
I thought they looked small and anemic, different strokes. Happy Easter
James, that's cuz it was the Bronco Sport
@@LiqdPT I didn't think I'd find you here (it's Aaditya, from Avants!), but it is our duty to inform people about the Bronco vs. Bronco sport lol
@@jamesday7344 agreed I saw my first bronco (which was the sport) in Breckinridge on vacation and I just felt it was lacking, but it’s not the full size. Cant wait to see those
@@TheSittingGamer123 I think the proportions really screw it up. The rear lights are so low it makes the whole thing seem droopy
This is probably the most excited I’ve been for a new vehicle in like 5 years
Ford and independent mechanics say the same thing. They can just smell the money rolling in.
@@LearnAboutFlow Couldn't say it any better.

Love the new Bronco!
Always been a Chevy man, I wish when they brought back the Blazer name they would have made it a real Blazer. Instead of some soccer moms Crossover/Minivan.
@@kbreezy004 gdi only, small ecoturbos are junk. Ford has major quality control issues with tech and this thing is loaded with it. There is no "data" per say as it is a new platform, but it's a very educated guess.
This is what you buy, if you want to be a “Outdoorsy person!” But in reality, you just want to take IG pictures doing active things and holding Starbucks.
Id rather drive this than a Camry to the crag.
I mean, they test drove this on the road. Didn't even bother to take it out for a spin in some more rugged terrains. Perfect for the wannabe crowds. lol

Nice looking SUV. It stands out from all the samey looking SUVs everywhere. It looks even better in person. And smaller. Would have been nice if you could have tested the offroad capabilities though. That is what really sets it apart from the usual small SUVs
It looks like a Ford Escape from the 2000’s. Just updated tech.
Bruhhhh now I can’t get that out of my head
@@claw247it’s like Ford had left over old Escape bodies and needed to do something with them.
All of these young auto reviewers can't seem to recall that Ford's 2012 Escape (their last SUV-style Escape) looked 90% like this "Bronco". This is really what the 2012 Escape would have evolved to if Ford hadn't restyled it as an European Kuga urban runabout over the past 9 years.

The bronco sport 2021 just earned Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS. The best possible rating. I will buy the badlands in orange cyber. The bronco sport is the best off road small suv. The rav4 didn’t get the + IIHS rating. The bronco sport apparently excelled in every crash test even the most difficult small-overlap test which mimics an impact with a stationary barrier in the headlight area of a vehicle. ´The headlight system offered on all trims earned a Good rating (the best rating possible) while both the standard and optional crash prevention systems outperformed in IIHS evaluations’
Can confirm that the headlights are amazeballs. You don't need any accessory lighting. Best headlights I've ever had on a car. Better than HIDs.
Got me a Badlands in Area 51 color. It is nice and a fun drive. I liked this because of the practicality and usefulness for a family. Yes, one can go off-roading, but it can be a daily drive also. I also like the flooring and cargo area. It is easy to keep clean. I am getting around 25 mpg in normal driving. I have had many people checking it out. I found it kinda strange to have so many who are much younger than me like it. I grew up remembering the Bronco and the Blazer and having so many people who did not grow up with them, recognizing it was nice. Ford might exceed their expectations on sales with this. A few things that stood out for us was the storage capacity, the rear opening choice of the glass or the entire rear door. I also one the unique color choices available. At our local Ford dealership, they sold 4 in a day we bought ours. If this is something your interested in, go check it out. We are satisfied with ours!
This feels a lot like a 2021 version of the old boxy Escape. And that's not a bad thing
My dad always drives his Honda CR-V with the AWD distribution on the screen. But he doesn't subscribe to anything on UA-cam...so does that count?
I think the GOAT mode is a reference to actual goats. They are badass climbers
It's a reference to the original 60s broncos advertising
@@sastrinidis Right, I think they called it Goes Over Any Type of Terrain.
Have to say this is one of the more unique CUV out there AND that is a plus.
Build quality is low though, many reviewers have found defects already. Moisture in headlights, panel gaps, cheap interior.
You mean unique in the sense it will look great in your driveway as you, yet again, wait for the tow truck to arrive
@@LearnAboutFlow Me? Buy Ford? Come on.

Those Newfoundland winters are brutal!
They’re nothing compared to Yukon and Northwest Territories.
Ford would have a huge hit if they took this platform and made a modern Honda Element...basically max boxy, practicality, and use the hybrid system from the Escape. Cyclists, dog owners, car-campers, tons of people would kill for that.
That'd be pretty awesome

I absolutely love my Bronco Sport Badlands!!!
I get Xterra vibes from the design of this thing. Which I love.
Traded my gladiator rubicon in for my badlands and I’m loving it and the power and gas mileage are awesome. I do a ton of driving 40 thousand plus a year. The Jeep was fun but it gets 15 miles a gallon the bronco is pushing 23 and it’s fast for this class and doesn’t beat you up and it can go anywhere my gladiator could go pretty much.awesome job boys as usual. If you can take this thing into the mountains you will be surprised.Bronco sport is really a Bronco 2 so it came first!
Yeah that one in 1 million… That’s me… I love seeing exactly where power is going while driving or glancing down in the middle of a corner to see if it’s actually sending power to the wheels with grip or not
I love that twangy synth intro that totally isn't Creep, oddly jovial.
It's a song called Little BeeBee by Arc de Soleil
Also Badlands Chugs be like:
Well I need this baby to do some chugs in!
I use the wheel power distribution screen in the winter on my Rav4 Hybrid. It's fun to see where the power goes in snow & ice. I really like the looks of this over the Escape and would have thought twice when buying if this was available as a hybrid.
As a Bronco II owner, I whole heartedly support the welcoming of the Bronco Sport into Bronco family.
Exactly! Just like the Bronco II filled a niche, the Sport is doing the exact same.
I think they should have called it a Bronco II.
You're an IDIOT if you buy the first year of a new platform. Without any doubt, the first owners will experience problems that likely can't be fixed. Wait until the 3rd year at least, unless you're leasing it.
12:23 the charging coil inside might have some loose wiring, could've been a one-off issue.
(I'm only speculating please take this as what it is, just a theory)
I really like the Bronco Sport. I think it needs a spare tire on the back though
I do use the Intelligent AWD feature on my MKX.
Yooo!
Bronco Sport is the cooler and stronger sibling of the Explorer XD
So much smaller tho. Smaller than ESCAPE.
It looks like a Jeep renegade, Like the Drl's.
Starting to see a few of these in San Diego, but if I had to guess, the interest in the proper Bronco is probably bigger here, given the sheer number of new Wranglers, Defenders (including Doug once or twice...) and Gladiators I see every day.
I can't see the appeal of the base engine, but the I4 one looks like a great little off-road car.
ford actuallly brought back a badge without betraying it, well done to them
I do watch power distribution on my 21 f150!
I really hope if Elise ever takes Todd back, he won't stop contributing to the show 😉😉
I like wheel distribution...I especially watch it to know when the system goes from front-wheel drive to AWD. Its Fun!
I used to have my MDX's centre cluster showing the power distribution. It was fun watching the torque going to the outside rear wheel when powering out of turns, drifting in snow, and merging.
It’s a more interesting looking and slightly more capable Ford Escape. It’s got more character than a current Jeep Cherokee and certainly more than anything in a similar class from Toyota. People want something like this with a name that is familiar and has heritage. Ford isn’t stupid when it comes to marketing. And they’ll sell every one they make for the first two or three years.
Just woke up to this, yessssiirrr.
i have a used 2016 Fusion Titanium AWD and i put the active wheel thing on the screen alot.
I definetely look at all the gauges and wheel distribution displays when driving! I like the feeling of knowing how the car is driving, makes me feel more connected.
so ford bronco-ized the escape for the posers. lame af.
Hell yeah! A proper review of a vehicle iv been excited to see!
You could tell they thought this truck was weak sauce
I'm already seeing these here in Denver. 2 of my neighbors in my parking garage have them. My Grand Cherokee makes them feel like Ford Escape sized, tiny. Can't wait to see the bigger one in real life, we will definitely have tons here in Colorado
I watch the wheel distribution on my Kona
You guys really need to do a Cherokee Trailhawk, you would be pleasantly surprised, especially if you like the power on this Bronco!
This Bronco Sport seems ok, but I’d rather have a Cherokee.
Reminds me of the Land Rover Freelander of the 2000’s
One of these and a new Defender popped up in my tiny Pennsylvanian town, and any time I drive I keep my eye out for them both because I now absolutely adore them 🤌
These have been selling like mad at the ford dealer by me. Even better, if you look at their service lot (larger dealer), it's all escapes, explorers and now bronco sports sitting in there for maintenance
i saw one yesterday for the first time, i liked it
Ehh....its ok...I saw this same one on the road the other day and it didn't really stand out to me. The big one may look cooler though.

Ford bronco? You mean Ford explorer sport 😆
Love your videos guys 🔥
I like it and don't have an issue with the Bronco Sport name. Back in the 1980s Ford sold the regular Bronco and the Bronco II and there wasn't outrage about the name. I told my non-car enthusiast buddy that he should look at one of these as a replacement for his car. He has a highway commute for work but wants something that is kind of off-roady with character. It looks like the perfect vehicle to take camping or hiking trips with, not everyone needs a vehicle to go rock-crawling.
1:32 talking about using the Bronco and Mustang names for marketing...Yuri sounds just so defeated by it. I feel you, bud.

A couple of takeaways: 1, I will for the rest of my life call the bottom of a seat the “butt part” and 2, thanks for acknowledging that Dad Fast is a thing. At almost 50 I like cars that are quick but I don’t need the fastest thing on four wheels. I also agree with you that this Bronco Sport is a great looking vehicle for its type. The Toyota Vézina insurance rented me for a month had that AWD distribution meter available, and I watched it. Missed rear biased AWD all month.
That horrid front overhang is impossible to overlook. It’s been the bane of front drive platforms and can’t go away soon enough.
In the age of overpriced SUVs, this one is a hidden gem. Too bad the “real” Bronco couldn’t follow suit, just as overpriced/underequipped as the Wrangler
Ummmm what? The bronco starts at like $28k. What do you mean by underequipped? You can option it to have all the features and safety items that are as good or in some cases better than luxury aimed cars. In my eyes the sport is a bad deal since you can get a well equipped bronco for the same price as a sport
@@Blue_Flame_Raptor it’s 2021 no one is buying 2-door SUVs. The 4 door model starts at $33k ($35k after Ford fees, not including tax, title, etc). I just built out a base model earlier today to confirm this is ridiculously priced, and after adding the Sasquatch, 2.7L, keyless entry keypad, and hardtop, (literally the basics of what anyone getting a Bronco would want) and after deliver and acquisition and whatever other fees were in the fine print, price was $44k (again before tax, title, etc). And for that $44k I get wonderful features such as a plastic steering wheel, manual cloth seats, manual climate control. Overpriced as hell, even with 0 options at $35k to be getting stuff like that as standard kit. The $28k Bronco is a pipe dream marketing ploy so they can say it “starts under $30k wow!” and obviously people are falling for it
@@gothops154 It would be overpriced if it wasn't an offroad vehicle, what it lacks in features and comfort it makes up for in performance and suspension. I get it, it's expensive but all cars are now. It's just the way it is, but relative to other vehicles it's not a bad value. You clearly don't get the point of it so go buy a boring crossover from some boring brand.😊
@@Blue_Flame_Raptor even without the Sasquatch package, it’s over priced. So the off road argument goes out the door. It’s crazy that any consumer, unless you work for Ford, would argue they want to spend more money on something. Stop simping for getting less value
@@gothops154 less value than what? Also the bronco will be worth much more than msrp so you could sell one for a profit

Badlands are eroded sedimentary rocks and clay rich soil. There is a Badlands National Park in South Dakota, USA. Bronco Sport Badlands is good for dirt, gravel, mud, and snow trails, but probably not for climbing big rocks like the Bronco or Jeep Rubicon without some mods. You could try having it lifted and use bigger tires if you want to take the Rubicon trail.
I watch the wheel distro as well
