Have you considered using the laser ‘stitch line’ alignment guide? It would seem that would be complimentary (or used solely) to guide your stitching line. Additionally, there are magnetic stitch guides (for “regular” sewing machines) that w/should be able to ‘snap’ on the TechSew bobbin cover (assuming its metal is not aluminum or some nonmagnetic stainless steel). What I like (and usually use) is this guide does not allow for a ‘gap’ between the guide and machine bed (in your case, the bobbin cover): material cannot travel under the magnetic guide. It is also a lot less obtrusive than TechSew’s excellent version of a stitching guide, which is probably better for leather - or thick nylon straps.
As for me, I am FINALLY taking the plunge, after over a dozen years of trying to get by with my high-end sewing machine. A long time ago, I had decided on the TechSew as the best machine (for me). That hot, beared guy from Montreal(?), has dozens of YouTubies demonstrating the strengths of the TechSew 4800Pro: oddly, he does not seem to like TechSew laser guide where I use one frequently on my BabyLock. Yesterday, my machine struggled and broke needles for a project. Eventually, I ended up having to sew together, by HAND, two really thick layers of ‘loosely’ woven nylon straps - with a thin, tightly woven webbing placed between the two layers: what a mess and somewhat dangerous task. After pulling the needle thru with a pliers (a few dozen times), the large needle had a sharp point for meant for leather or something a veterinary would use to sew up livestock wounds. The needle eye was large enough to thread the only thick thread I had: 1/16"Ø Dacron, something I have (and forgot I had) used as a ‘piping’ thread for my embroidery and sewing machine.
Thank you so much for posting this, I actually just purchased my Techsew 2750 pro, but when I saw your video and the main point focusing on the layer differences, I got a hold of techsew and upgraded my order to the Tech sew 4800 pro, for the simple fact, the importance of the presser foot climbing mechanism. I really am looking forward to seeing more videos produced from you. I love the rosie pouch, I have sewn over 28 of them now this month, and can not wait to use the Techsew 4800 pro for the binding on that new machine. Hope you do a video for that with your new machine. I hope as well you get use to the seam guide. You are so talented. Thank you again for sharing, helping out the sewing industry.

I would love to be able to afford a machine like this. I AM! saving up for a machine but since I only work about 20-25 hours a MONTH it is taking forever. lol. In the meantime I am working diligently on my sewing skills and making domestic friendly bags on my old machine.

Congratulations on your new machine Rosie! I just bought my 4800 Pro a couple of months ago too and LOVE it. I know it's a lot of machine but I'd rather grow into its power than outgrow an intermediate one, just to end up with this one. I look forward to watching you make more bags on your Techsew!
Thank you so much Rosie for this demonstration. I’ve longed for a cylinder arm machine but I think this Pro is more than what I need. I have a 1541 and do struggle with top stitching around the bags but maybe there is a “lessor” cylinder arm out there that would fit my needs. Love all your videos.
I have the Juki 1541S. It was my first industrial, but I am at the point that I really need a cylinder arm because the flat beds hurt my hands too much when sewing in different areas. I will see down the road if I just use the cylinder arm about maybe selling my Juki. Thanks for watching!

Hi Rosie, I've seen you sewn on a few different industrial machines ... Have you done a video on what your likes and dislikes about each of them for what you use them for? Which is mostly for bag sewing.

Really appreciate you doing this video! I’ve just purchased a Cobra Class 26 cylinder arm and I’ve not really found a video that shows first time sewing. My beastie scares me.
Just start by sewing on scrap fabric to get used to the machine. The more you practice, the more comfortable you will get. Thanks for watching!
Can this machine stitch any material . Also does the machine 4800 pro have different stitching needles and settings for leather a thick material
I have been looking at the Fabricator, do you still use this machine or did the 4800 pro replace it? If so can you do a comparison video?
Are there seam measurements on the throat plate?
No more Fabricator?? Or is this in addition to it?
What size and shape needle are you using?
