    My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    I tried mounting the same seat to my kayak and because I am 6' 2" I found that my center of gravity was too high. I don't have pontoons on mine and just felt like I was going to tip even when casting. Plus I found the seat back dug into my back and I couldn't be on the water for more than a few hours.

    Thank you. I'm going to be buying a Tamarack soon and have been watching Mod videos, 90% of them are the same. I Loved the outriggers and fishing pole (depth finder/ Go Pro) Mod. With the outriggers are you able to stand in the Yak? I'm a Commercial carpenter so I will be on the lookout for ALL and any PVC scraps the plumbers are throwing away, which will save me some $$$. Thanks for the Great video, you did an Excellent job of explaining everything you did. Tight Lines :)

    • @donmcgee7969
      @donmcgee7969  3 роки тому +2

      I'm 72 so standing from a sitting position in any kayak would be a challenge for me, however if you're young and agile I wouldn't be afraid to stand with the outriggers on. I often turn side ways with my legs over the side just to stretch and change positions. I haven't pushed the limits but it would be very hard to tip it. With that said, all ways wear a PFD.

    id like to see a video of you making sheets of pvc and forming it! ive thought of doing that for a old town canoe that the wood that ran the length of it on the side to support it broke somehow. got it from a neighbor and havent been able to use it yet. gotta fix a few leaks first and want to form a 3-4 inch pvc pipe the length to replace and support the boat. its a 17ft canoe i believe and replacing the side with an original is too much $ so forming a piece that big i was curious how you would do it!! thanks for the video! would boiling or steaming the pvc work? heatgun? any help or thoughts would be great!

    • @donmcgee7969
      @donmcgee7969  3 роки тому +6

      Sounds like you need a very long flat piece. That would be very hard to do. The sheets that I made weren't much more than 6" X 6". The width of the sheet is limited by the size of the pipe. For example a 2" pipe will yield a 6 1/4" width. (Diameter X 3.14). For mine I would split it length wise with a saw, then heat one side with a heat gun and pry it away from the split opening. Once I had it open enough I would heat the whole thing, sandwich it between two boards and stand on it for a minute until it cooled. If you don't let it cool completely it will try to revert to it's old shape. Rather than split it you might just heat it a few inches at a time and just flatten it. I got my heat gun at Harbor Freight, very cheap and PVC is cheap so get a piece to experiment with. If it doesn't work you haven't lost much. Good luck! I hope you get the boat going again.

    Sir, if you see this do you think a trolling motor would mount to you stabilizer?

    • @donmcgee7969
      @donmcgee7969  3 роки тому +1

      I thought about adding a trolling motor, however with the combined weight of me and my equipment I'm already pushing the weight max. of the boat and I need the exercise anyway. However if you've got the weight wiggle room I'm sure it could be done. I would extend the cross piece enough to mount it on there rather than on the boom of the float. I would also put a screw all the way through the bracket and the cross piece and into the boat to anchor it in place a little better. If you get it done I would really be interested in how it worked out. Good Luck.
