Wilshire was one of my fave tracks during the first couple listens , love the story telling and flow and vulnerability but I'm still happy with the 8 :D seemed fitting
that Wilshire take kind of just shows that the dude wasn't paying attention to the rest of the album. so many of the tracks have lines about using wealth to cope with heartbreak or emotions. buying a boat to cry in the ocean, buying new emotions, buying new wheels when third wheeling, eyes crying on the jet cruising, spending millions to fill voids up. Corso, the first track after the intro, already makes references to using wealth to deal with depression.
Wilshire fills in the gaps but does not recontextualize anything.

Before call me if you get lost came out.i listened to every tyler album in anticipation and his flow goes back to wolf on many tracks but has the emotional levels of flower boy which are his 2 best albums but when you combine them, it makes this album and honestly makes it his best album and should have been a 9
why is no one saying this:
Igor was a very carefully and meticulously put together album that was fantastic. With CMIYGL, Tyler was just making music, simply just making content. With the way he shows his confidence, he’s proving that he can create outstanding shit. The lyrics/concepts are much less cryptic and he’s open and honest which we don’t see much from him in such a forward fashion. This shows his vulnerability and his truth, so the music feels so real. it’s like he just made 100 songs over quarantine and picked his favorite and threw it in an album. You can tell he was enjoying himself and having fun while making it, and it came out amazing.
Honestly this video, and specially the last clip, convinced me more than the review
Idk if it just me but this might be his fav album of tylers... its got a lot of replay value imo and it's brimmed up with bangers and the way Wilshire is structured is a nice change of pace imo. Igor is great but it's just which positive qualities of each I value more and I think like like call me more.
I personally like Igor more because of the absolutely insane layering and more cohesive sound, but I think ur opinion is valid:)

But to be honest igor is my 4th favorite tyler album now because of this album; which honestly sounds so terrible writing that out because it’s so good. Tbh though I just love wolf, fb and this better lol. Just my random opinion.
@@momobobo5430 Igor wasn’t a rap album, this is. The sounds are naturally going to be less layered because there’s a lot more of an emphasis on the lyrics this time around. Even then, Tyler’s version of what a hip-hop instrumental should be is impressive and creative.

I believe that wilshires gritty production goes with the tone of the song. It makes you wonder if the speaker is broken, but you want to keep at it and listen to it. Just like Tyler’s relationship. He questions the fallacies and asks if he’s even a good person, yet he keeps at it, not caring if the whole things trashy.

The only problem I have with Wilshire it's that it gets kinda boring because there isn't any instrumental change or bridge like in sweet/itywtd. But the storytelling is amazing tho
WILFSHIRE's clipping issue isn't THAT noticeable on headphones, but on studio speakers...
has it _really_ been the "prevailing narrative" of flexing in hip hop this past decade? 99.99% of rappers flexing are still just doing it to show off how rich they are, not to comment that they just do it to fill a void or something. the only songs i can think of that do that is 3005 and Marvin's room, and even marvin's room is mostly just a breakup song through the rapper-lovesong filter.
I think by prevailing narrative means the reason for the flexing

I love Wilshire because I like the beat and I enjoy hearing it over and over again for 8 minutes and I personally like the sort of emotion he expresses through the lyrics throughout the 8 minutes but people who expect people to actually like the song and try to over rationalize why it's actually good are dumb despite it coming from a good place

Wilshre was a one take freestyle. I don’t he wanted to mess with it because of that reason and adds to the “rawness”. But you can definitely tell he wasn’t in a actual studio for some of this album cause there’s a lot of we’re noises in some of the shows that sounds like he hit the mic or some shit. But I think some of it adds to the aesthetics, but also make me really feel like that nigga bad his crew just took a bunch of recordin equipment around the world with them

I feel like this video was made to talk about wilshire and the context of the house wrecking drama on CMIYGL. Personally as someone that's gone through that kind drama from the boyfriend perspective. I just dont like the song because of my personal experiences.
Hell my personal experiences makes it REALLY hard to love the album. It's a fantastic album. I just have my bias.
To be honest i wish there was an asap rocky featuring in CMIYGL.
