Just FYI ... that steel bar in the rear that you store that trailhawk goodie bag behind ... its purpose is to put under your tire should you become stuck to help give you traction!
I had a 15 trailhawk and loved it. Now I have a 16 trailhawk with panoramic sunroof and I love it even more. Rides and handles great it’s a beautiful car.
Nice review. I've owned a TH since Nov 2015, really solid 4x4 vehicle. I found that metal bar in the back to be a handy spot to strap my laptop roller bag to keep it securely fastened while driving. I also find the ESS system to be a pain in the rear. Has to be manually switched off at each engine start. Wish FCA had made that button a simple on/off.
I have an older model, a 2014 Trailhawk V-6, and I really love this vehicle! I was so surprised at how well it goes in the mountains, snow and mud, and it is very comfortable driving.
great review...you helped me make up my mind! I'm a former Wrangler owner but I think now it's time to get some creature comforts in something that can "mildly" go off road if I wanted to. Was on the fence about getting another JK vs the Trailhawk but this kind of convinced me. Thanks again, great informative video!
Can’t stand the start stop feature. Rented one for awhile and that alone made me switch it out for something else and swear not to buy one. Also the door auto locking at 5mph was EXTREMELY loud and scared me every time it went off like a gunshot.
I have the 2015 and I find the camera is not the best. My wife's Pilot has a much older camera yet it is much easier to use given it is mounted higher on the vehicle and as a result, it gets fewer shadows that make backing up difficult. That being said I like my Trailhawk, I find its definitely the most capable 4WD vehicle I have owned aside from my Wrangler. Still a short wheelbase, narrow frame (but not too narrow), more than adequate off road features...the biggest issue I have is the lack of available off road capable wheels for this model. One more inch of clearance in the wheel well and you could do SOOOOO much more with this vehicle.
Grant, would you mind saying how tall you are? I know this is an older video, but the cabin of the Cherokee really hasn't changed and I'm looking at a new 2022 still on my local dealer's lot. Just curious how my 6' 3" frame might fit. Thanks.
@@GrantRoberson Thank you. I don't like "running the gauntlet" in a dealership unless I have a pretty good idea that a car is going to be a good option. Sounds like I'll fit fine, so its worth a visit.
Grant like always great review! But buddy is that correct what you said about the usb port disables the infotainment center? You mean if I'm charging my cell phone by using the usb port I have no access whatsoever on the infotainment center? That is a major deal breaker in a bad way. That is so inconvenient , everybody plugs their phone when not in use. Wow thanks for pointing that out.
Does anyone know what the key icon is supposed to indicate on the 12V slot in the valet section under the radio? Also I have the 2017 Cherokee Limited and want to know what does + and - mean on the automatic gear shift under D for Drive? BTW I have front wheel drive.
The plus and minus are for the use of "auto/manual" shifting. If you move the shift lever to the left, the indicator on the dash will change from D to a number, which indicates what gear you are in. Pull back on the shift lever and the transmission will shift up a gear, push forward on the shift lever, and the transmission will shift down a gear.....
@@leftoverporkchop9972 thank you for reply but don't understand ... how can you shift without a clutch pedal? And also when and why would you? I am in flat Florida so do not comprehend. We don't even have little hills for the most part.
@@ooohlaa13 Probably the best use for it in the Cherokee would be if you are off road and wanted to take control over shifting the transmission rather than letting the car itself decide what gear to be in. There is no clutch required which kind of makes it a weird experience when driving on the road, especially if you are someone who knows how to drive a clutch. Sounds like you can play with it if you want, to see how it works, but you really don't seem to have a need for that feature.
Nice vehicle! I sure agree about the stop/start function. Big waste......shut the engine off for a minute or 30 seconds at EVERY red light! Dumb and you save what? a pint of gas! That feature needs to be removed completely.
i tried so hard to find a crack on the passenger seat to pull i almost rip the seam open and still can't find the hidden storage. But i vaguely remember that the salesman showed this that.
Check out for the new Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV comming this fall 2017 !!! Cherokee Trailhawk + Nokian studded winter tires = winter fun at its best !!!

I have the 2016 model, and it's my favorite vehicle I've ever owned! Great review Grant!

What a beautiful, well thought out machine. FCA has come a long way in a short time thanks to Marchionne.

Nice video, why does it sound like you are emphasizing the last word on every sentence?
That's how he talks
Nice! I have the 2016 V6 trailhawk.
@R.Malik are you happy with your 2016 trailhawk?
i just checked a 2017 trailhawk.. and underneath the cruise control and other side fxn.. there are buttons to change radio channel or volume..

Great question. 6’2”
I now mention my height in most of my videos as it seems to be a popular factoid.
Thanks for watching

ynp1978 we have a 2017 grand cherokee and the start stop feature is so very annoying we turn it off every time

is there Passenger seat storage if the car has heat and ventilated seats?
Commander Erik yes I have the 2016 and it does have the passenger seat storage and heated seats. Not sure about ventilated.
i tried so hard to find a crack on the passenger seat to pull i almost rip the seam open and still can't find the hidden storage. But i vaguely remember that the salesman showed this that.
The ventilated seats do not have storage, just the heated seats.
gosh u have no idea how hard i try to rip the seat open try to find the tab to pull lol. ok glad to know. thank you for your answer!
Commander Erik no problem! The only reason I know is because of the Jeep forums. Probably not a bad idea to check those out if you have any questions.
4:19 says it has a buck tooth appearance
7:20 mentions operation
