One thing that I didn't see mentioned here, and this is true for other reviews as well, is (a reason) why the cargo capacity is less than some of the other competitors. The reason is that the Cherokee has a full size spare tire, which is very important for an off-road focused vehicle. Having a full size spare in lieu of a bit more cargo space is a trade I'd make any day of the week, and should be mentioned when comparing specifications, I'd suggest.
The wife and I love our trail hawk. We've always loved Jeep's but can honestly say the our Cherokee trail hawk was a best investment to our Jeep family
This is an awesome vehicle. They have fixed all the transmission issues in the 2016 model. I have driven one as a loan car for a few weeks and the ride is very smooth and the 3.2L V6 is the best out of the bunch. A lot of power.
Finally a real review of this vehicle. IMO this vehicle is extremely underrated. I test drove this and the range rover evoque. The Cherokee was simply a better vehicle for $15k cheaper.
I've had mine 6 months now . I fish , hunt , lots of back roads for work , highway driving. Only dislike for me is rear seat space and trunk space . I can't get it stuck lol it's great in snow especially with snow tires on . Great sound system too!
Keep in mind that you can get a trailhawk 3.6L for about $30,000 if you lay off the tech option packages, ventilated seats, and get a discount off msrp.
Just bought a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk and I love it! Took your advice on the V-6 and am so happy I did. Rides smooth, very quiet, and has a good amount of power. The vehicle really speaks of quality. Thanks for your review as it helped me with my buying choice!
I'm getting one of these babies with the 3.6 V6 engine, but I'm going to wait for the 2017 model by then those Federal Crash Testing kinks should be iron out. Getting for sure that Tango Mango Pearl Coat exterior plus black wheels, i think that is such a cool color. Finally Jeep is coming around! now if they were only a little more reliable.
Thanks for the video. I just bought a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk and am making my way through the manual, but to see how things work is so much better. The MSRP was a little over $45,000, but they were discounting the heck out of them over Labor Day so it was a good deal. I've only had it about 5 days, but love it. We do a lot of hiking in the North Georgia mountains and didn't have a vehicle to go on the Forest Service roads that are unpaved. Now we've got a vehicle that can handle them and take us to the trail head that is sometimes 3-4 miles off the paved roads.
Excellent review, have 1000 miles on my 2016 and am very impressed with the overall quality and technology. The manual does not inform well at all regarding off road usage, this review told me everything I needed to know. Regarding the roll when put into park, the automatic-on of the electronic park brake is great - auto releases when you step on gas but must have seat belt on. Will probably do much more beach/sand driving here on Long Island, but would love to try some off roading also. My black beauty is loaded with options and end of year deals were terrific.
Chris - thanks for an awesome review. Just purchased 2016 model (just like on the video minus paint - mine is all black) and I'm happy to report this vehicle is great. Man, I thought I had fun in my old Mitsubishi Endeavour... this thing can literally crawl through almost everything. Everyday driver will never complain about this thing at all, whether you're traversing urban jungle with constructions around you, crappy winter roads, or rocky park trails. Just wished to receive even bigger tires than my little beastie came with, but I understand now you can get some, including lift kits... all specific aftermarket, for jeep.
We just acquired a Trailhawk as our tow vehicle behind our mobile home. After having a 1000 miles on it, I can attest that your review is spot on. Both my wife and I love it. Her other car is a Porsche Panamera Turbo. She loves how nimble, responsive, agile it is and she loves the high end sound system. My other car is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and I have found the Trailhawk quite a value and fun to drive. I am especially looking forward to taking it west and finding trails that other would fear to tread.
We just bought a Trailhawk and I've been reviewing several videos here about it. I have to say that, so far, you explained the 4-low mode better than any others I have seen. Thanks for postin this video.
Just traded my 13 Subaru Outback for a new, well equipped, 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk .we gave up the 2.5 4 banger for towing capacity, but there is no comparison between the 2. Subaru is utilitarian, cheap, but capable. Jeep is humble strength with refined elegance. It's a serious piece of machinery.
Good info and points ie use park brake. Just bought one, love it. Would have liked a little more off-road, maybe loose uphill and an obstacle. Also all the driving avoidance and automatic features are amazing. Feels like a luxo machine long distance driving.
Just rented one of these for a small vacation to the Oregon coast...overall we put 2000 miles on it in one week. I really did like it but it wasn't as comfy as he makes it our to be..the center armrest does ware on your elbow in no time, as do the seats...my hips and legs were constantly asleep no matter the seat positioning! Even my 2016 Tacoma doesn't do that and the Taco definitely feels more solidly built!! I really did like the remote start and heated wheel..quite nibble and the 4 cylinder did just fine for us... 26 mpg overall...can't complain there. Ours was the limited, not the trailhawk...but I'd still rather the crv or rav4!! just my 2¢
+filthytaco If you wheel at all then a Trailhawk is the only Cherokee to get (all others are meant for the road) and a Rav4 or CPR oh I mean CRV can barely get through a few inches of snow never mind do any type of wheeling.
+filthytaco Looks like English is a second language for you. Oh and I'd never buy a Toyota...see them broken down along the highway often and yes we are just fine here.
The Trailhawk is def cool but it's really not necessary unless you're doing serious off-roading all the time. The majority of the people who buy them probably wont do serious off-roading, so why pay extra to get all the bells and whistles (that will probably break or need fixing at some point)? I have the Cherokee Latitude w/ active drive II and the 3.2L V6 and it's MORE THAN capable. As he said, I would DEFINITELY recommend going for the V6, but if you're looking to save some cash than I'd highly suggest taking a look at the Latitude.
I have 2016 cherokee for about 3 months now,I have no problems with transmision, just one thing down shifting from 4 to 3 is rough, went to dealer install new software, now is better, sometimes feel hasitation when accelerate, other than that everything is good,as the review said.
Just sold 08 Patriot trail rated model for 2016 Cherokee loaded. Love this new Cherokee. (Wife has 2016 Patriot w/ 6 speed.. very nice and solid too bad they are discontinuing it, but compared to the Cherokee similarly equipped ..... I like Cherokee.
If you buy a car with less than 5 stars insurance rating -you will be paying extra to your insurance company. Sometimes this will make a low msrp. car way more expensive to insure, than a higher msrp car making you wish you opted for the second option. Worse, some of that has nothing to do with real safety but rather how well the manufacturers prepped or rather doctored their cars for the testing, or how many electronic nannies the car has. As far as paying 40K for this little Jeep, you would have to be sick in the head to do so.
I have a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. So far no issues with anything. I have only 3100 miles on it. But No problems to report. Have you had any problems, or are you just asking?
what is he talking about ? my Cherokee is 2016 and has 89000 km and now da turbocharger is fu......! and than da heating and air -System , and than da gearbox ... No,thanks Jeep
The interior is much nicer than the renegade trailhawk because of the leather but the design is just much better on the renegade. I think this is the ugliest jeep this generation.

Swiss Army knife on wheels..am so glad I own one
I have a 2015 trailhawk, and it's been flawless.
Paul Sumpter how is it today?
still have it? looking to buy one.
How is it going??
@@donbagab9627 He ded. Those low crash test ratings caught up to him.
How is it doing?
The fact that you filmed that intro scene in various locations was pretty cool. The review was great.
Finally a real review of this vehicle. IMO this vehicle is extremely underrated. I test drove this and the range rover evoque. The Cherokee was simply a better vehicle for $15k cheaper.

I just upgraded from 14 to 16 and I can say the transmission is smoother and haven't had any issues with it.
Still love it?
How is it doing now? Has it been reliable?

+Bruno TaTa 3.2. This is an exclusive engine to this vehicle. 3.2 Pentastar NON E85 too.
Chris does the best reviews

You can turn on the automatic electronic brake to where it sets the electronic brake when you put it in park.
Impressed with the Integrity of the Review !! Keep it Up :)
the back seats are adjusted , so you can have more space
How about owner satisfaction and reliability ? I want a Trailhawk but I am so worried about the long term with this vehicle.

The driving position really is perfect

Fantastic review!
We so love our Trailhawk. Great video.
Great review!
Love this review. Perfect for the average knowledge car guy
Nice review.
Hi Chris! Do you still stick by this review in '22?? Because I need to buy an older car. Thanks!
Thanks for the great review!

Thank you, even today that review is great.
looking at this and the 2016 nissan rogue awd wondering whats better for the snow thanks
rogue isnt trail rated. but should still be ok with awd.

VansMudder I agree with your... interesting (CPR) comment - lol
Great review! Thanks!
I have a 14 trailhawk and I'd be scared to death taking this thing off road. Shit breaks on it just on my daily drive to work on the highway.
Check truedelta or JD Power...It is really frustrating that jeep has such a bad scores
Great review now I'm trading up.
Anyone know if i buy I used one. Will i have many issues?
Great video! Sweet Jeep!

Go be poor somewhere else. 😋
it looks better in person. my co worker has one.
Awesome 😀😀 Jeep Cherokee review .
I have a 2016 jeep cherokee sport, and want to lift it at list 1.5 or 2 in. is there anything out there?
what about the auto stop/start feature? how was it? noticeable?
I have it. Pretty seamless. Easy to turn off.
Looks good
Has the transmission problem been fix?

2015 with no problems!
yup, I'm trading my altitude patriot 2015 for Cherokee latitude 2016. thumbs up!!

This is bs that One has to pay 40grand and you got to pump the seat up and other electronics you didn’t mention either

Has anyone with a 2016 or 2017 trailhawk experienced transmission issues?
Please someone answer him
I have a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. So far no issues with anything. I have only 3100 miles on it. But No problems to report. Have you had any problems, or are you just asking?
***** I was just asking cause i wanted to purchase one but i have changed to a 2016 nissan murano
I hear they are nice as well, but I have never driven one, take it easy
thanks
what is he talking about ? my Cherokee is 2016 and has 89000 km and now da turbocharger is fu......! and than da heating and air -System , and than da gearbox ... No,thanks Jeep
So is no one else gonna pretend the car didn't almost flip at 5:38
This car is totally crap! I have to replace my transmission with less than 30 k miles
The interior is much nicer than the renegade trailhawk because of the leather but the design is just much better on the renegade. I think this is the ugliest jeep this generation.
not sure if jeep is squinting at me, or just really really ugly
