This was what put nascar on sports center and into America's hearts; the iconic names and cars. Also, a very professional broadcast team that everyone loved.
The guys at Morgan McClure were the first to figure out how to make a "tuned exhaust" for the stock cars. That made more horses and accounted for the car sounding "different ".
@@johnmoneypenny6139 miss that sound and definately miss 850HP well actually about 650 ish with the plates, today's cars are just pathetic in the HP department not even close to what they had through the 90s until 2016 when they switched to the 550HP engines.
Junior Johnson was experimenting with tuned exhaust back in the late 70s early 80s with Darrell Waltrip, go back and listen to his car compared to everyone else's at the time his had that high pitch whine on every track not just Sspeedways.
I miss back when restrictor plate racing was like this. Some might say it's "boring" when the field gets strung out and with long green runs, with very few or no cautions, but at least the drivers used their heads.
I was so proud and did finally find out what the sound was, the sound was the air was reduced and diverted to the cowl from below I was astounded as the hood kept coming up and water added to cool the engine! I grew up with Sterling and he was a Tennessee Good ole boy just as I am ! I cheered all into the night !
1:58:58 You never see a spoiled brat like Kyle Bush pick up pieces of debris in today's NASCAR to help out.. why can't we have great coverage, great commentaries like Ned Jarrett and Ken Squire like this today?
2:02:02 How did Mark Martin not get swept up in the big wreck? On screen you'll see him between Jeremy Mayfield and Ricky Craven, and he'll move away from the wall down to the grass, barely clipping John Andretti (who is obscured by Terry Labonte).
As i've heard before, Dale personally installed the seats in his racecars himself. I remember seeing in car camera shots of Dale during a race, and he was really bouncing around pretty good.
Is this Shrader's flip that they talk about in the HMS documentary - Kenny says when he started flipping, he said a prayer. "Please don't let this emotionally scar Jeff [Gordon]". - I was crying listening to it.
Yep, "Swervin" Ernie Irvan took Marlin and Earnhardt out. I just saw a video where that car has been completely restored to the exact race setup Morgan McClure had for it for that race.
Anybody wanting to talk shit about Jeff Gordon needs to see that interview with Ray evernham at around 2:05 where he indicated that Jeff felt so bad about crashing Kenny Shrader that he was in tears. You never saw that from Earnhardt
What about when Dale turned Rusty at Talladega in '93? Dale stopped on the track and approached Rusty's car to make sure he was ok. Not sure if he had a tear in his eye, but all men display their emotion differently. Earnhardt was definitely concerned for his fellow racer and friend that day.
Ken Sqire was enuff to get on your nerves, if you actually listen to him make some comments, he'd over elaborate the situation...such as Pettys 81 Daytona win, he says, Pettys holding on to that lead, like a hammerhead shark...when was the last time you saw a hammerhead in race for the lead,..just a silly statement
It may be silly but Ken Squier is a legend in NASCAR should have his own Hall of Fame picture. And Mike Joy also another NASCAR Legend in the broadcast booth you want to talk about silly listen to the broadcasters we got now nuff said
Dudes like Marlin and Michael Waltrip only had enough skill to win at a daytona and Dega. Pretty sad, Lol. Just wide open at these tracks. Not much skill needed, just a good car.
If there's not much skill needed Tik Tok I don't see your name on any car out there going 195 mph. Bumper to Bumper with some of the best drivers in the world you wouldn't even make the first lap, especially in the 70s-90s
This was what put nascar on sports center and into America's hearts; the iconic names and cars. Also, a very professional broadcast team that everyone loved.
Dear Fox Sports, this is an intro!! I miss the old CBS theme music. Made every race sound so epic with Ken Squire's voice draped over it.
The middle of the mid-90s...it doesn’t get more 90s than that intro!
Miss this era!
That Morgan/McClure #4 car was tough on them big tracks especially with sterling driving. Good ole days

i agree. it was more strategy it seemed back then. i just miss the winston cup days.

5:10 a realtime replay of the Lajoie flip.
1:57:01 Ken S. 1st flip 4 years later is 2nd flip at Sonoma 4 years later 3rd flip in 2003 at Pocono raceway
Sterling Marlin's third win of the 1995 season. He collected $219,425, including a bonus of $121,600 for winning from the pole.

Bailey Canterbury kb isn’t a spoiled brat though
Bobby Labonte has real class.
@@CJODell12 for me this 1995 dega race is better than 2015 dega 2.
Notice how every car in this race has a big sponsor on it.Today half the field has a sponsor you never heard of or none at all.
Petty smokes Gordon and Martin in the tri oval to move from 8 to 6 on that last lap....
47:38 Earnhardt's crew member runs out grabs a loose tire under green flag conditions.
Awesome racing thanks
I love the Sound of Earnhardt's car at 2:11:32.

I think his seat had springs in it I remember Kevin harvick said he went to test dale sr car back in 2000 and didn't like the seat didn't seem safe

The fender boys🏁

was there.
You see this today and the first thing that pops in is why Jarrett is not in the Quality Care 88
Musgrave becomes Earnhardt
Jarrett becomes Gordon
Elliott becomes Batman
Was this the same Sterling Marlin # 4 car (chassis) that was destroyed in the 1996 race w/ Dale Earnhardt?

well its more than that. you can have a 'good car' and still finish poorly. Gotta have a good car, but it also takes patience.
Putting Marlin and Waltrip in the same sentance like this is disgraceful. Marlin won on many other different tracks including Darlington, twice.

Yet Sterling finished 3rd in the points twice, and each year won at non-plate tracks. Try again.
