Waffles Fam, We got a condo for the month of December and I have tried all the new places that have opened in the last couple years that you mentioned in your reviews. I'm sad to say you have missed the boat. Try the Phoenix located almost across the way from Black Marlin in Island Moorings. We always eat there when we come to visit. They are pricy but they dont skimp on ingredients. They dont advertise because they dont have to, in-fact its a little hard to find them. They have been listed in texas monthly's top 50 restaurants in the state and you will need to get a reservation if the weather is nice as many customers drive in from out of town to dine. Tip ask if they have the blue crab claws available... its an off menu item that I always get when available. I have not found another restaurant of this quality in port A. By the way your review of a certain burger/fish joint is right on. Another review with the shrimp egg roles and the sauces.. Sadly they seem to be saving money with cheap ingredients and not changing the fryer oil on time. I left my food on the table after a few bites... wont be going back. Peace love and good fishin!
Eric I really appreciate your feedback. I have never heard of that place before and I genuinely just love to hear of new places for us to check out! That’s what we’re here for. Most of the reviews that we have done for restaurants, all but one, were done based on polls taken from the locals. They were rated highest in the particular category that we were ranking for that video. Definitely agree on our statement from that certain place we’ve made in the past 🤣. As to the other one, I hope that was just an off day because that sucks! We’ve had good experiences twice but because we don’t live on the island and eat there daily I can’t vouch for consistency. Sorry that happened man. I will look into reviewing The Phoenix in the future! 💜🤘🏼
Don't know what "locals" you were talking to, but none of the folks I know would say black Marlin is the best... Shells, Kodys, and island Cafe and Virginia's are all amazing... black Marlin does have decent food just not what is being portrayed here .. now their bloody Mary bar is the best on the island.
We took a poll on the locals group 🙂. This comment totally threw me, not trying to be an ass, I swear but... I’ve tried Kodys twice, thought maybe we got bad menu items the first time, definitely wouldn’t go back there a third 😅. We did breakfast at Island Cafe because it was recommended. Just… no to breakfast. Ever. Bland and mediocre at best for breakfast and we got the spicy items! 😅 Virginias we can agree on no doubt!!! Love that place. Went there last week. Haven’t been to Shells.
Love your reviews but have a critique. Don't start off your meal with liquor shots, that's a problem with many tourist ratings on the island so many people are letting drinks influence their happiness with the meal. Secondly, all reviews lose their credibility when the chef is sitting at the table with you.
She was on several tv shows for being an incredible chef, it was an honor to meet her. We didn’t ask her to come out, she knew who we were and we were very flattered. That being said, that absolutely had no influence on our review and we were sent to review here by a landslide of people saying it was the best seafood on the island. It was excellent! I do appreciate the constructive criticism.

All the years we've been going to Port A we have never eaten there because we thought it was some snooty upscale place,food looked amazing. Fish on.
