Jasmine, there are so many Medical Billing channels out here. I find your delivery amazing, like a talk show or news anchor. Your information is so thorough, and your content is terrific. This is definitely the channel that I have been so looking forward to. I fell into medical billing by accident. My first client is a solo practitioner mental health practitioner. He was doing everything himself. I feel this is a good learning environment that will allow me to learn and grow simultaneously.
Oh so cool! Thank you so much for the kind words. We're glad you're getting value from our content! So excited to hear about your first client. Congrats!
I am so glad you made this channel. Thank You:) I will be using this channel as notes. I really want to get into this field. I will be looking into the AAPC course. It looks like it's getting straight to the training and I can pay as I go. I wish I knew this before...because I was under the assumption you didn't need school and that training was offered on the job. However I have not found that job post YET! :D But now that I know I have a goal... I can handle 4months over 2 years....I JUST WANT TO BE IN THE DOOR AS OF TOMMORROW :D
Thank you, I am glad you are enjoying our channel. Would you please let us know if you would like IPS Learning Institute to make video's on other topics you are interested in learning more about?
I just found your videos this rising and I appreciate them. I have worked in medical billing since 2012 and will be interviewing for an A/R Supervisor role. What information would you think would be prevalent in order to help land the position?
Ooooh I love this question!! Thanks for asking it. Congrats on your AR supervisor oppuritunity! We will be live again this evening at 7:30pm EST and I have I added your question to the list. Look forward to seeing you on the live later!
I'm completing a Medical Billing/Coding program but more attention was placed on the coding aspect, which is what I think I want to do in the long run but it doesn't hurt to know the other side of things too.
We definitely think billing and coding complement each other, but that is so exciting that you found the path you like! Good luck on your coding journey!
Hi Maria! 👋🏽Thank you for your comment. It would depend upon the extent of your current healthcare knowledge. What is your background? Do you have any healthcare experience?
Love this video. I have a couple questions. I'm interested in medical billing but would prefer a role that's not front desk. Is it possible to work in billing in a more behind-the-scenes setting? Also, do employers train newcomers in insurance guidelines? Thanks in advance.
Great question! I will do a video to expand. Most billers are "behind the scenes". And yes there are many positions that train on insurance guidelines. This is because most insurnace guidelines are unique to state and specialty. The most important skills that are helpful in all cases is a natural desire to problem solve and eagerness to learn.
If I am a receptionist at a urgent care is that a good start because I am looking for a job in billing and I am also in school for billing I still have 3 months left
Yes! Anywhere that you can get your foot in the door and get experience is a great first step! If you are looking for job advice, check out our latest live streams from this month as job hunting and reception have been our topics for July: ua-cam.com/play/PLgzxQ8JwGid-jYzvpCOVNShKqVSV7aaqT.html We also have a course all about reception if you were looking to improve your skills: ips-s-school-8c86.thinkific.com/courses/medical-office-reception
I need some guidance. I am looking to get into this field. My background as far healthcare is behavior therapy and rehab. I have a masters in healthcare administration that I am doing absolutely nothing with! I would like to start taking some classes and I see you all offer some. What do you recommend first?
Thanks for your comment, Patrice! It's great to hear you are considering medical billing as a career. I would recommend you start with our Medical Billing 101 course as it would definitely give you a good sense of medical billing so you can decide if it's for you. Today is the last day of sale for our Billing Starter Bundle and that would be the better deal. More info can be found here: ips-s-school-8c86.thinkific.com/bundles/MBStarterBundle If you choose Billing as your career our next Mastering Medical Billing program starts in January 2023 and the Language of Billing (included in the starter bundler) is a prerequisite so you'd already have that.
Hello Patrice, I am currently a year from graduating with my bachelors in health sciences and I plan on applying to a health administration program but I am not sure what career outcomes I could make out of it specifically… any feedback on the degree/ job outcomes would help! Thanks
Hi Tela! Thank you for your comment. That is very exciting! No, unfortunately, it is very unlikely to expose you enough of the medical billing side to be beneficial to you as a biller in the real world. Most coding programs exclusively train you on coding and only do an overview of the revenue cycle as a whole.
Hello, me and my partner will soon start a chiropractic office and we want to be able to do the billing ourselves too, is there any online class you recommend for or anything complete beginners.
Hello, have you started your billing training? If not, we would love to have you join our medical billing training course that will include you leaving with the CPB certification: ips-s-school-8c86.thinkific.com/courses/Mastering-Medical-Billing
Quick few questions 🙋♀️ I would like to work remote and I want to know if I’m interested in medical billing do I have to code? Also where would I apply as a beginner no experience like can a medical biller work in the offices of a nursing home ? I also want to know can I make $20 a hr doing this after 2 to 3 years.. I was thinking to take medical office and billing specialist will that allow me to work as a medical biller ?
Thank you so much for your comment! These are really great questions. I can’t really speak specifically to the hourly rate that you’ve quoted, because that would be depending upon a number of factors, including where you’re located, and the type of billing role. However, the most common range for billers is $18-35 per hour.
Hi I was just on your site and I saw you have a mini at your own pace course. I wanted to know ow bow do you know if your doing the right thing, also do you have live online course , I would prefer that....
Hi Niki! Thank you so much for your message. How familiar are you with the position of a medical biller? We have a full flagship training course that is hybrid (some live & some pre-recording) and it starts early February. However, I would suggest if you are unfamiliar with the world of medical billing and coding then I suggest that you start with either the billing bundle or at least the billing 101 so you can become familiar with the industry and really decide whether billing is for you.
Thanks for your comment. I am not familiar with their program but I would ask a lot of questions about how much hands-on experience you will receive in the program. Additionally, when you complete the program still go out and get credentials from a well know organization such as AAPC to certify your knowledge and allow your resume to stand out.
Hello, I do medical billing I'm currently looking to work from home or come to the office 2 times a week please let me know how to send you my information 😇
Thank you for your question! Every company’s claims target vary greatly, and there are a lot of variables to consider, when setting, hourly or daily targets. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a direct answer to this question. The most common range I see is anywhere from 40 to 60 claims worked per day.
Sure, I am the owner of a medical billing company and have been for about 18 years but I worked by way up and have served in all roles. Thanks for the question!
There is no official schooling needed. If you do not have healthcare experience, I greatly recommend a medical billing program delivered by medical billers working in the industry. We are in the process of wrapping up our online certification so definitely stay connected. Once completed your studies, I recommend you getting a certification that will give you credentials. A couple of those are: www.aaham.org/Certification.aspx www.aapc.com/
I'm looking into the AAPC program to do this. I was told it's mostly remote at home work. How true is this and is there plenty of jobs available? I have a 6 yr old and a family to take care of so I really need a legit good paying job
Hi Stephanie! There are a ton of home-based positions available in the market and opportunities for you to work your way up in the business of healthcare. If you’re starting out entry-level with no experience you’re probably going to start at a typical range for entry-level positions in your area. I would suggest looking into positions such as insurance verification or patient services representative. Typically they do not require as much experience and they will supply the equipment needed to get the job done.
I'm sorry you feel that way, medical billers and coders simply codify the charges for the services nurses and doctors perform. If you would like to learn more about what it is we do, we have a lot of videos here on different aspects of the job.
