Lutron uses it's own hub that can then be directly connected. For Leviton, if the devices connects to wifi it can then connect directly to the Google Home app.

Question for you Brett: I just purchased a home hub and have not been able to figure out how to bring up a recent UA-cam TV recording on it. Ideally I’d like to be able to say “OK Google, Play the most recent “Sports Center” recording on the Kitchen Display” (or any cast-able device in my home). I don’t even see “UA-cam TV” as an option in the list of services (nor do I see regular UA-cam in the list). Is there a trick to getting that working? Have you had any similar issues?

When you click the compass on the phone to search for the hub is it using Bluetooth since it's not until later you tell the hub what WLAN to connect to?
I live in a very small apartment so I don't have much need for this, but it would still be useful. I use my calendar for everything, and having a calculator on there would be super helpful too as I have Dyscalculia. Is it able to play any UA-cam video or is it just the short ones?

Please do a tutorial on routines. It looks like the only trigger for the routines is voice with a time constraint. Does these mean that there is no support for motion or contact sensors? Does the Nest Hello motion detect or doorbell push actually bring up the camera display?
So I know its a little thing I mention here but I am just now looking into Google Home and have been on UA-cam boning up on the platform and notice how each video caster "politely" mutes the wake commands while exploring the features. All of a sudden Google nest would not “find my phone”. Have tried resetting 10x and the screen stays on Connected but will not advance to Almost Done and Finish Setup. Is it dead?

Sadly they are not compatible with each other. I'm not sure what other devices you already have but now is a good time to decide if you want to stick with Google products or Amazon devices.

"a iPad" sounds disjointed, that's why we use "an" instead of "a" when it comes before a noun that starts with a vowl sound, even "an hour" is used not "a hour" because "hour" sounds like "our". I only pointed it out as you corrected the guy that said it correctly with the incorrect pronunciation and thought I'd help you speak English, because "a iPad" doesn't sound better it sounds wrong...because it is. :)

That’s exactly my doubt, I so a video about this and indeed has a screen reader, but I’m afraid it’s the Android’s Talkback, it’s slow to respond and unstable. Well… It’s a smart display, but Is it worth it to read full WEB articles or checking very detailed information? Talkback just stops reading randomly while is reading WEB articles or content from other apps, I hope this Net Huv works fine. Talkback has a terrible glitch where the volume control is not working, it keeps very loud, or very quiet, I have this terrible bug on my Huawei M5 Light tablet and I can’t sort it out even after several reboots, and today I meet a friend who tested Talkback on his Xiaomi phone and had exactely the same issue, and we couldn’t get it to work as normal, I assume it’s a nightmare using Talkback in the Nest Hub, it can speak at full volume in the middle of the night and wake up the whole house, and it never happens with VoiceOver on my iPhone 11, which it always works absolutely fine, I use my Android tablet mostly to interact with Google Assistant. . In most cases, I highly recommend using a smart speaker, it’s the same as the smart display but the assistant is always responding verbally. In my case, I’ve used an Echo 4th gen and it always worked without issue for me. I also don’t really recommend using third-party speakers for smart assistants because I’ve had a very bad experience using my Sonos Roam with Voice assistants either with Alexa or with Google and I’m quite unhappy, my Echo 4th gen that I had before always worked absolutely fine for me. I’ll send back the Roam and buy either a Nest Audio or an Amazon Echo Studio, they must be great
Hi Brett, I see the Hub is connected to 5G, will that not interfere with smart devices that use the 2.4G signal, cause all smart devices to my knowledge use that frequency. Or can someone explain cause if its not an issue I'll set up my two Alexa devices on my 5G and leave all the smart devices on the 2.4ghz network.
It does not matter as long as the devices are connect to WiFi. Every time you give a request the Google home it connects to the network and then to the service like your smart lights, then since they are connected to the Wi-Fi it can control them. Connecting the Hub to 5G just means it will connect to the internet faster.
I am having trouble getting my nest video doorbell to show up (ring) on my home hub... Think I did everything following the instructions meticulously. Ant suggestions?
Go into the Nest app and find the Works with Nest option. Go through the Google Assistant setup and there are new permissions that you need to allow for it to start working.
I also like how you mute hey google and ok google because i have a google nest right next to me, anytime I watch other UA-camrs, I have to mute my nest lol.
Two questions. How do I delete things from the calendar, and when will they add the ability to ask a second or third question (promptly) like on the home mini, and not have to again say the activation phrase?

Not directly. You can just see the camera and say the following to send them a preset present automated message. "OK Google, tell them I'll be right there."
I have already in use with few amazon lightbulbs which are controlled by Smartlife apps it works great with HOME MINI. However, I cant see the drag-down menu in the HOME HUB contain my light control... anyone can solve this for me? I bought my HOME HUB for that little control pannel but it doesnt come up :/
Is it me, or does this lack a simple search function for UA-cam? I can't seem to find one and it's simply not smart enough to work out some words. Hard to believe such a function would be missing, though.
Mine does not do this!!! Mine is permanent stuck on “connected follow the instructions in the Google home app” I’ve literally gone through the whole set up in the app and it’s connected but it will not move on past this on the hub.
My wife bought 2 google home hubs to video chat with my Daughter like in the commercial and I bought one yesterday for the same reason but I found out that it does not have a camera. Did we buy the wrong one? I'm so disappointed at my self for not informing my self first. What commercial shows a young lady video chatting with her Dad sharing a recipe ?

I cannot see my upcoming appointments-reminders that I have set up. It states to change my permissions in the app. Cannot locate where to do this though.
if it could be move from room to room, than wifi reception is very important....what if one's wifi does not reach a upper stair bedroom, where you would like to set it up as an alarm clock? And for music, is it like Echo, you have to buy a subscription?
It has a strong WiFi but it might be best downstairs. You can listen to Pandora or the radio without a subscription but those options are also available.
Oh my Holodis... I mean this in the nicest way : You really should do your research on google on the whole smartlights thing first before asking this. It will save yourself (and others) lotsa time. I did just that myself and learned quite a bit from reading and watching several videos and whatnot. I figured out the smartlights thing over a couple nights of research and Im now on to understanding Hubs, Smarthubs, Switches and whatnot. You'll thank me later (I hope!) and Good Luck!
Hey Brett have you had any issues with ghost devices on your google home. I have synced with smartthings and when I say a command let's say turn on left bedroom lamp, google then says it dont know what left bedroom lamp to turn on. I'm thinking google has some how saved multiple devices of the same name. My smart home is basically broken now because none of my voice commands are getting through
Any change to this? Have you tried asking Google Home to "sync my devices" to see if that fixes it? Also double check your naming in the app you set them up and if you are still having issue you may need to unlink and link them.
Robert, not sure if this will be helpful to you. I had a similar problem with my kitchen lights. I have Philips Hue lights connected to a Hue bridge, and also have a SmartThings hub. The SmartThings hub is connected to the lights as well. I think what happened is that the Google Home added the lights via Hue, then added them *again* via SmartThings. It seems SmartThings automatically connects to Hue if it's on the same network, so my suggestion would be to leave SmartThings connected to the Google Home, but remove the direct connection of your Hue lights (if those are the kind of lights you have). If you are using a different brand of lights, the fix may be similar.
While I have successfully been able to do this it is not recommended. It used a lot of data for my limited hotspot plan and to set it up you would need to mobile phones. Hone for the Hotspot and the other to connect then together in the Google Home app.

Thanks, The new hub, as of 9-2022, doesn't have the same Icons or options. I liked the Room - Home option that showed everything, but it is not there.

Tap on the device in the Google Home application. Then select Edit Photo Frame and turn on the weather option.

It will do UA-cam and UA-cam TV. It does not support Netflix. What is Stan? You can also cast to it from most cast supported apps.

Is this the Nest Doorbell Wired? In the Nest app under the Nest Doorbell make sure that you have visitor announcements turned on.

How do you get the large weather display on your home screen? I can only seem to have it displayed in the lower left corner and small.
Tap on the temp in the bottom left and it will pop up.

It just depends on the brand and type of the lights that you buy.

That’s exactly my doubt, I so a video about this and indeed has a screen reader, but I’m afraid it’s the Android’s Talkback, it’s slow to respond and unstable.
Well… It’s a smart display, but Is it worth it to read full WEB articles or checking very detailed information? Talkback just stops reading randomly while is reading WEB articles or content from other apps, I hope this Net Huv works fine.
Talkback has a terrible glitch where the volume control is not working, it keeps very loud, or very quiet, I have this terrible bug on my Huawei M5 Light tablet and I can’t sort it out even after several reboots, and today I meet a friend who tested Talkback on his Xiaomi phone and had exactely the same issue, and we couldn’t get it to work as normal, I assume it’s a nightmare using Talkback in the Nest Hub, it can speak at full volume in the middle of the night and wake up the whole house, and it never happens with VoiceOver on my iPhone 11, which it always works absolutely fine, I use my Android tablet mostly to interact with Google Assistant. .
In most cases, I highly recommend using a smart speaker, it’s the same as the smart display but the assistant is always responding verbally. In my case, I’ve used an Echo 4th gen and it always worked without issue for me.
I also don’t really recommend using third-party speakers for smart assistants because I’ve had a very bad experience using my Sonos Roam with Voice assistants either with Alexa or with Google and I’m quite unhappy, my Echo 4th gen that I had before always worked absolutely fine for me. I’ll send back the Roam and buy either a Nest Audio or an Amazon Echo Studio, they must be great
You are adjusting volume etc manuallly - can't this be done by voice?
Hi Brett, I see the Hub is connected to 5G, will that not interfere with smart devices that use the 2.4G signal, cause all smart devices to my knowledge use that frequency. Or can someone explain cause if its not an issue I'll set up my two Alexa devices on my 5G and leave all the smart devices on the 2.4ghz network.
It does not matter as long as the devices are connect to WiFi. Every time you give a request the Google home it connects to the network and then to the service like your smart lights, then since they are connected to the Wi-Fi it can control them. Connecting the Hub to 5G just means it will connect to the internet faster.
I am having trouble getting my nest video doorbell to show up (ring) on my home hub... Think I did everything following the instructions meticulously. Ant suggestions?
Go into the Nest app and find the Works with Nest option. Go through the Google Assistant setup and there are new permissions that you need to allow for it to start working.
I also like how you mute hey google and ok google because i have a google nest right next to me, anytime I watch other UA-camrs, I have to mute my nest lol.
How do you link your coffee pot and lights? Bluetooth?
You will need to get a smart outlet or smart light bulbs. Then you can link them in the Google Home app.
Two questions. How do I delete things from the calendar, and when will they add the ability to ask a second or third question (promptly) like on the home mini, and not have to again say the activation phrase?
You would need to go to your calendar app. There is no word on if the continued conversation feature will be coming yet.

For the soothing sound part, you chose the ocean sounds. I was wondering if it has fireplace? Like a visual picture of a fireplace and the crackling sound like Netflix has.
I does have fireplace sounds without video. You could also asking it to play a UA-cam video with fireplace effects.

Not directly. You can just see the camera and say the following to send them a preset present automated message.
"OK Google, tell them I'll be right there."
I have already in use with few amazon lightbulbs which are controlled by Smartlife apps it works great with HOME MINI.

Sorry that was not clear, no those won't work. It is for things like Alarms, Timers, Broadcasts & Reminders.
Mine does not do this!!! Mine is permanent stuck on “connected follow the instructions in the Google home app” I’ve literally gone through the whole set up in the app and it’s connected but it will not move on past this on the hub.

My wife bought 2 google home hubs to video chat with my Daughter like in the commercial and I bought one yesterday for the same reason but I found out that it does not have a camera. Did we buy the wrong one? I'm so disappointed at my self for not informing my self first. What commercial shows a young lady video chatting with her Dad sharing a recipe ?

No, unless you set it up as a group to play together. Have not tried it, saw it mentioned on another review.
if it could be move from room to room, than wifi reception is very important....what if one's wifi does not reach a upper stair bedroom, where you would like to set it up as an alarm clock? And for music, is it like Echo, you have to buy a subscription?
It has a strong WiFi but it might be best downstairs. You can listen to Pandora or the radio without a subscription but those options are also available.
How do it control the lights in your house?? Do you have to have some type of device to your lights??

You really should do your research on google on the whole smartlights thing first before asking this. It will save yourself (and others) lotsa time.
I did just that myself and learned quite a bit from reading and watching several videos and whatnot. I figured out the smartlights thing over a couple nights of research and Im now on to understanding Hubs, Smarthubs, Switches and whatnot.

Hey Brett have you had any issues with ghost devices on your google home. I have synced with smartthings and when I say a command let's say turn on left bedroom lamp, google then says it dont know what left bedroom lamp to turn on. I'm thinking google has some how saved multiple devices of the same name. My smart home is basically broken now because none of my voice commands are getting through
Any change to this? Have you tried asking Google Home to "sync my devices" to see if that fixes it? Also double check your naming in the app you set them up and if you are still having issue you may need to unlink and link them.
Robert, not sure if this will be helpful to you. I had a similar problem with my kitchen lights. I have Philips Hue lights connected to a Hue bridge, and also have a SmartThings hub. The SmartThings hub is connected to the lights as well. I think what happened is that the Google Home added the lights via Hue, then added them *again* via SmartThings. It seems SmartThings automatically connects to Hue if it's on the same network, so my suggestion would be to leave SmartThings connected to the Google Home, but remove the direct connection of your Hue lights (if those are the kind of lights you have). If you are using a different brand of lights, the fix may be similar.

While I have successfully been able to do this it is not recommended. It used a lot of data for my limited hotspot plan and to set it up you would need to mobile phones. Hone for the Hotspot and the other to connect then together in the Google Home app.
