Tammy Wynette used to hide George Jones car keys to keep him from going and drinking more and he took the John Deere to go find more drink and it became a legend. George eventually got sober thankfully. But this was a nod to that and George was on the John Deere and the end of the video and Vince called him Possum which was everyone's nickname for George, but George had started calling Vince Gill Sweet Pea early on in Vince's career and it truly was a term of endearment. Vince trying to sing Go Rest High on That Mountain at George's funeral shows how much he loved and respected George Jones because he had so much trouble getting through the song.
Seriously I remember someone telling me that he stopped drinking after he got a DUI on his John Deere green lawnmower.LoL
Collin Raye’s “That’s My Story “ is another upbeat song with the same story.
Another one "Little Lizza Jane" is so fun, the opening is a must....
If you really enjoy Vince Gill and Reba then do the heart don’t lie ❤
If you haven't already, you might want to listen to Vince's song, I Still Believe in You.
Ohhh, yessss… beautiful song ❤
Check out Vince Gill's "It's Hard to Kiss The Lips at Night"... Hilarious song... Co written with Rodney Crowell (Gotta check him out too)... The song was inspired by Vince's late father, who came up with the idea of it for Vince to write...
I thought that was him
Yes they need to do a live version!
Yes! Great suggestion. This was recorded by Vince and Rodney under their band name, The Notorious Cherry Bombs. Another great Vince Gill tune was his very early hit "Let Me Love You Tonight" when he was lead singer of The Pure Prairie League.
You have to watch the acoustic version where he tells the story of how the song was written and telling his wife Amy about it. So hillarious!
I first heard ' It's hard to kiss the lips at night . . . ' on KPIG
. . . And now it's on my ( original) ' my wife ' playlist
That man on the garden tractor was the greatest country singer ever, George Jones.
Next to Merle Haggard.
Next to George Strait
Vince Gill is one of the very few who has perfect pitch!
“What the Cowgirls Do” is a fun, fun dancin tune! 🎶
Vince Gill! Many moons ago he was with Pure Prairie League! I believe he still is touring with The Eagles. He can play a mean guitar & his voice is like butter! Have a great weekend!
Watch for George Jones "Possum" at the end 🤩
Vince is a very funny guy. You guys need to see him telling the story of the first time his dad met Dolly Parton.
He's in The Notorious Cherry Bombs with Rodney Crowell. "It's Hard To Kiss The Lips", lolol
So happy to see another Vince song! Please please add Whenever You Come Around to your list! He wrote it for his future wife, Amy Grant, right after meeting her.
one of my favorite Vince Gill songs.
Vince is actually quite a character. I enjoyed it when he would host the awards shows. He liked to cut up and clown around. Above all, Vince is a huge talent. He makes it look easy.
Also, don’t miss the great George Jones (Possum) at the end of the video.
Vince is awesome, love Pretty Little Adriana
The line about the John Deere is a reference to a famous story about George Jones, when he was married to Tammy Wynette in the early '70s, when he was in the throes of alcoholism. Tammy had hidden the keys to Jones' car so that he couldn't drive to a a bar or a liquor store, and so Jones instead drove a riding mower ten miles on the shoulder of the road to get to the nearest liquor store.
Vince, like Glen Campbell, was one of the best session guitarists in Nashville. He and Glen both went on to successful solo careers.
He still is!! You should see his guitar collection of the guitars he plays ...amazing!
"Pocket Full Of Gold" by Vince Gill, will nock your socks off! Talk about vocal Display! Love your work. JWW
Vince Gill - "Cowboy Up" is my favorite Vince Gill song. Bluesy, nasty with a dirty electric guitar & strong bass.
Thanks for today's reaction.💜
😂 One of THEE BEST guitarists of all time, Country or otherwise! The ONLY guitarist I ever saw play seamlessly with a golf glove on his note hand! The guy is undeniably OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!
Check out Marty Stuart. He's been around awhile (played with veterans like Lester Flatt and Johnny Cash). You could check out some of his songs like Hillbilly Rock, Western Girls, Little Things, Going, Going, Gone, Burn Me Down, Tempted, Time Don't Wait and a couple with Travis Tritt, The Whiskey Ain't Workin' and Honky Tonkin's What I Do Best.
Vince Gill has the most angelic male voice in my opinion but a lot of people don’t realize he is an amazing guitar player.
His voice is so amazing. Love Vince Gill.❤😊
Yay, you got back to Vince! I know you love his ballads so it's nice you picked an upbeat one this time. Check out his voice with Pure Prairie League "Let Me Love You Tonight". You'll ❤️ it!
This is my favorite of many Vince classics.
I’m not really a country fan but I’ve seen Vince Gill in concert with my wife and he’s really a great artist. ✌️☮️
A super light-hearted one from the great Vince Gill!! 😅😂❤
90s country is the absolute best.
Y'all should check out Vince's cover af a song by late great songwriter and great performer Guy Clark called Rita Ballou. Another upbeat song. He also wrote a song for his Dad called The Key to Life. Really good song tribute. You guys stay safe out there!! Oh yeah, Vince kinda wrote this after hearing the stories about George Jones driving his John Deere lawn mower to the bar after Tammy hid his car keys. LOL.
Vince Gill has a great sense of humor and this song always makes me smile. Somebody earlier suggested "It's Hard To Kiss The Lips at Night," and that's another one that shows off his wicked sense of humor. If you do that one, you should check out the official video he did with Rodney Crowell under the pseudonym Red Hot Cherry Bombs. But be prepared and keep the kids out of the room. It's a "naughty" side of Vince Gill that'll catch you off guard -- but also make you laugh.
Hope all is well. Vince actually sang an amazing falsetto part in the song "Surf's Up" as part of a Brian Wilson tribute show with David Crosby and Jimmy Webb . We did see Vince at a place called Belleayre, just him and maybe 2 others. Fantastic! OK. This is a great tune. And the boy can play! Fun video. Thanks!
Love Vince Gill 😊❤ seen him in concert twice, he’s fantastic. A good guitar 🎸 player too.
He’s an awesome guitar player. When you get invited to Eric Claptons crossroads show you’re doing something right
We're getting the weather in Texas, too. This has always been one of my favorite Vince Gill song.
Actually Vince was from the NW side of the city
He went to Northwest Classen
They have a Staute of him
I haven’t heard this is ab 20 years. Still know every word. Love it.
Love Vince Gill 🔥 🔥!
Oh YES! This is one that I was hoping for for a while!!!! This is great!
I have only heard Vince Gill songs through you guys, so thanks for that. Keep up the great work.
You guys have brought back my love for country! Thank you so much ❤
Long time listener (watcher), from Ft. Worth Texas. Had a lot of family in Oklahoma, and I just love y'alls vibe. Every time. Keep rockin'...
I've been waiting for this one, I'm so happy!
Vince Gill... currently of the Eagles. Also, formerly of the Pure Prairie League although he wasn't quite on board yet when they had their big hit "Amie".
Love Vince Gill... Awesome voice and songs!!
Vince is a dynamite guitar player. That was him taking the solo on this song. Amber mentioned in the video that she liked "Look at Us." The guy in the light blue shirt is John Hughey, who played steel guitar on that song. One of Vince's duets with a fellow Okie - check out "Oklahoma Swing" with Reba McEntire.
Vince Gill and Amy Grant HOUSE OF LOVE.
Vince is one hell of an artist, singer, and guitarist.
Jay,Amber and your
Family are safe withb the weather up in Oklahoma. today. This is a great Vince Gill song and my favorite. ❤
I love this man❤
Vince Gill is one of the good ones...singer and human
Met Vince when he was with Pure Prairie League. Handsome!
Love me some Vince Gill.❤❤❤
Excellent choice, Jay & Amber! Vince has a great collection of upbeat tunes also. He's quite accomplished on the guitar also. That his solo. Consider giving "Liza Jane" a try. An upbeat song from early in his career. Gonna be a bumpy night. Be safe :)
Need to see/hear "How Great Thou Art" with Vince Gil and Carrie Underwood live. His guitar playing and Carrie Underwood's voice had the arena in tears.
Vince is an absolute MONSTER Guitar Picker. All of the Guitar on this tune was played by him. You guys need to look up the Live Video of him playing Oklahoma Borderline here in UA-cam.
Also him playing in the Nashville Band "The Notorious Cherry Bombs" who backed Emmylou Harris. Their video, "It's Hard To Kiss The Lips" has all of the famous Band Members playing in the video.
Come on y'all I can't get enough Vince Gill.
Be safe. Love Vince
Hey Guys! Next time you do Vince, could you please react to "Pocket full of gold". His vocals on it are next level, and its a beautiful song.
Ps; please be safe with the bad weather. Praying for you! 🙏😇🌪
Vince Gill is a fantastic guitar player. I hope one day you’ll react to Liza Jane , and a live video Oklahoma Borderline from the Crossroads festival.
I love VG but my favorite VG song is - If you ever have forever in mind - a sophisticated song, love love love it!!!!
Good job! Another upbeat Vince song is Oklahoma Borderline live. Vince plays great guitar on it!
Another upbeat one is "Don't Let Our Love Start Slippin Away" the video is a who's who's of country and rock legends.
You gotta do Oklahoma Borderline! You'll love it!!
Such a great song! I always thought Vince had a great cross-over type of voice, not pure country voice! Definitely fun!!❤❤
Great guys!!❤❤
He is an excellent golfer and runs a golf program for kids
This is a fun fantastic song, stay safe🙏🏼
Glad you got back to Vince! You still need to check out his duet with Reba McEntire - “The Heart Won’t Lie”.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Vince Gill has a great song that shows his great guitar skills called "Oklahoma Borderline". This video has him talking to Chet Atkins his guitar hero.
Haven't heard this in ages. Stay safe in the storms.
Vince is also excellent on the guitar, as well!! You might also like “Little Liza Jane”!!
"Liza Jane". Another upbeat song by Vince Gill
Love that Bad Company tee-the cover of the album ‘Straight Shooter’.
Liza Jane is one of my favorite Vince Gill songs. Two of my daughters have the middle names of Elizabeth and Jane.
For fun country, nobody beats Brad Paisley.......the Fishing Song, Celebrity, etc!! Lots of celeb cameos. Or try his duet Whiskey Lullyaby with Allison Krause. He's fantastic and you haven't tried him yet!
ABOUT TIME YOU FOUND THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a big Vince Gill fan! Y'all stay safe in this dicey weather here in Oklahoma (I'm a born & raised Okie, I live between OKC & Tulsa😊)
A similar song is "That's My Story (and I'm sticking to it!)" by Collin Raye! Another artist with a stunning voice on the ballads but some fun up-tempo ones as well.
You guys are the best. Keep inviting us on your musical journey!!
"Last Kiss" by Wednesday, band from Oshawa Ontario Canada
Have always loved Vince's voice. You need to check out "Aimee" when he was with Pure Prairie League. It's an up tempo song as well.
"Aime" was on Pure Prairie League’s 1972 album "Bustin' Out" and then was released as a single in 1975. Craig Fuller was the lead singer on it. Vince joined the band in 1978.
May I suggest “third rock from the sun” by the late great Joe diffie. He has some banger 90s country songs and he unfortunately passed away from covid complications in 2020
Good song good reaction
If it’s okie day then we need some JJ Cale start with Magnolia or Crazy Mama
Try Oklahoma Borderline by Vince. Shows off his great guitar skills.
If you want more bangin' upbeat Vince, check out "Liza Jane" and the live version of "Oklahoma County Line" (the version where he's on A&E Live--his guitar solo is the best I've ever heard!)
Amber you would love ( If you ever have forever in mind ) . Also( faint of heart )with diana krall both by Vince.
There was a guy by my grandparents' house who drove his tractor to the bar back in the 80s. He got trashed and drove it home through his neighbors" yards (and fences) on his way home. He drove through flower beds, gardens, fences, and part of a pond while dragging a bush hog behind him. There were quite a few pissed off people before the police finally stopped him.
I like a good bit of Vince's music. I don't listen to much country music but definitely enjoy listening from time-to-time. Enjoyed this one and the reaction.
New music requests:
1. "Start of A Romance" by Skyy/1989
2. "Would I Lie To You" by Charles and Eddie/1992
3. "Can You Stand The Rain" by New Edition/1988
4. "Hold On" by En Vogue/1990
This reminds me of the Colin Raye song, "That's My Story." It's got a similar theme. :)
Yes, they have to do That's My Story! It's hilarious when Colin stutters nervously in the chorus by the end. That'll crack them up!
He certainly can sing
While we're on the country genre.... if you get around to reacting to more Alabama, check out "Love In The First Degree". It's great!
Vince Gill is a lifelong golf enthusiast and excellent scratch golfer. He even had his own Pro-Celebrity charity golf tournament for about 25 years, nicknamed The Vinnie. 😊 You really can't go wrong with any Vince Gill song, fast or slow!
If you want some other good fast-paced country songs by artists you haven't dipped into yet, try "Oh Lonesome Me" by The Kentucky Headhunters (It's the old Hank Williams song, with a totally different tempo and style.), "Sold" by John Michael Montgomery, "Fast as You" by Dwight Yoakam, "I Saw the Light" by Wynonna (You've listened to The Judds, but never Wynonna solo), or "Better Things to Do" by Terri Clark.
He graduated from my high school, Northwest Classen High School, in Oklahoma City. 🙂
Seeing pictures of Oklahoma tornadoes yesterday and are praying that you’re all ok. Don’t know where you are from Sulphur. 😊❤Prayers for you all 🙏🏼
Vince was in a group called "The Cherry Bombs" with Rodney Crowel, another country singer. The song is called "It's hard to kiss the Lips at night that chew your A$$ out all day long" it's a comedic side of Vince rarely seen. I think you and J would get a laugh & smile out of this one.
Definitely at the top of Oklahoma's homegrown."no cap" NO lip sync needed.✌️❤️
Another funny one you'd love is Mac Davis' "It's Hard to Be Humble".
Vince Gill’s wife singer/songwriter Amy grant music is cool too
If anything it’s a great name for a song.
Great reaction guys and keep your head low with the tornados
If you want to hear a sweet song from Vince Gill, you must listen to "When My Amy Prays". It's about his wife Amy Grant. 👍😊
