    I work in corporate talent acquisition and all of your advice is spot on. I agree so much about the phone interview - typically I phone screen candidates first and then present my recommendation to the hiring manager. It seems like the trend is that people don't take the call with me that seriously - I've had people speak to me in a noisy environment or I hear they're running around the house doing errands. It's feedback that I would include in the file that's sent to the hiring manager. Might be minor but it really shows your professionalism and respect for the company's time.

      Omg I wouldn't have ever thought to do that during a phone interview 🙈 I guess people don't ever know until someone tells them! Thank you for your insight!

    Thank you so much Stephie. This video is very helpful. I’m going to watch over again and make sure to take some notes. I graduate this summer. With BA in accounting. I have been applying to so many firms but I’ve heard back from none of them. This whole career thing and graduation is very nerve wracking for me. My greatest in life fear is not getting a job after undergrad, i feel like i might fall into depression. Because of this fear, i worked so hard to pay for college so that I don’t have any student loan when I graduate. I just try to stay positive about everything. Love your videos. You are my inspiration. Love you.

    Hi Stephie! This was a great video! I have a quick Accounting career question. I am majoring in Accounting and Finance and will be a junior this upcoming fall. I am currently speaking with different companies regarding internship opportunities for next year. I am certain that I would like to work in audit. My question is: do you recommend starting in public accounting versus internal audit? I am definitely open to both, but I would love your advice career-wise on what would be the most advantageous? Love you girl! :)

    As a manager, do you expect candidates to send you a thank you email? Is it a deciding factor in whether or not you extend an offer?

    Hi Stephie, loved this video, especially all the questions you mentioned to ask the interviewer at the end 👍🏻 I have kind of a weird question related to this topic. I want to live abroad for a few years and based on the country/immigration laws it would be “easier” for me to get a job here in the US with an international company and then transfer to where I want to live. Do you have any experience with your new company on how easy/difficult this would actually be? Or if you even encountered any Americans working for your company when you went to Europe? Thanks 😊

    • @WithStephie
      @WithStephie  6 років тому

      Thank you! Working for an international company would definitely be your best bet. My company does offer relocation opportunities when they arise, you just have to prove yourself and be vocal about wanting it. I've seen it happen for people who have been with the company and are consistent performers. So I'd say work really hard, make it known and be patient. Also I've seen several LinkedIn postings about relocating abroad, more auditor jobs though.

      I'm currently in governmental auditing (super not transferrable to another country) so I think I will switch over to industry when the time comes...maybe. Thank you for your insight, I really appreciate it!

    I *should* be done with my bachelors in the summer of 2019, and my lease renews each December. Our goal is to move to a different state, so I hope to have a job by November/December in the new state. When I left the Navy, I procrastinated a bit and had to settle for the job I have now. Do you think August would be too late to start applying/interviewing, or should I start earlier? I've only had to interview for one job in 6+ years! LOLAlso, for in-person interviews, I would suggest to not drink coffee (avoiding coffee-breath and possible spills) and for smokers to not smoke before the interview!

    • @WithStephie
      @WithStephie  6 років тому

      Haha so true! I'd say there's no harm in looking earlier, at least getting your feelers out like around June just in case it takes a while. I find that around August or Sept a lot of people start looking (esp. People leaving public accounting) because raises and bonuses come out so may want to beat the crowd haha

    I have never been a fan of people who twist the weakness and make it sound like a strength. People call BS, I feel it is just best to be honest with a weakness and it shows you are very self aware on issues you can work on. But that's just me...

    How do I slow down in the interview? Thx

    • @WithStephie
      @WithStephie  6 років тому

      It's all about mindset. Just take time to calm down beforehand and try to treat it as any normal conversation you'd have. Also I found the more I went on interviews, whether I got the job or not, over time you'll get more comfortable.

    Is it best to do the BS/MS degree plan or just get your BBA in accounting than get your master in accounting later??

    • @michaelmitchell6353
      @michaelmitchell6353 6 років тому

      Because I plan to go to UNT in denton,Texas

    • @WithStephie
      @WithStephie  6 років тому +1

      Depends on what your goal is... if you want to be CPA exam eligible right out of college, you'll either need to take extra classes + bachelors or BS/MS. I personally just did bachelors and extra hours because I want an MBA in the future. But BS/MS route a lot of people do too, it's quicker (I think 5 years or so years) compared to doing them separately and you have to realistically ask yourself if you're going to go back to college later in life.
