Any guitarist that has signature gear needs to watch this, and realise this is what a signature model guitar should me. Johnny Marr's clearly put a lot of thought into how he wanted to improve the Jaguar, or mod it to better suit his (and maybe others) needs. It's more than some have (I'm looking at you, Joe Bonamassa)
And it’s the boy Fender I know of, being assembled and set up in Orlando FL. I’m not sure but I think he has Fender send the stuff to HIS guys and they finish it like a custom shop. That’s all I can come up with on why that was done. So you get custom shop quality, but without the custom shop cost keeping everything within budget, because that’s a lot of work, it would cost a lot more if Fender did it. I think he really cared about what you get when you buy one. I think he really gives a shit about what he puts his name on.
The crown jewel of my guitar collection no question. Pretty much a custom shop guitar. Not a single ounce of fat, not a single thing out of place, and not a single compromise. Perfect 10 out of 10 guitar.
Bill Puplett is an absolute diamond, no disrespect to Johnny but would have been great to hear more from Bill as well, the man is such a talent and must have so much to tell.
Sounds like you know Bill, and you’ll know he hates publicity attention of any kind. Johnny probably persuaded him to do this because he’s very charming.
He is certainly NOT underrated!! He has been recognized as one of the most melodic and original guitarists ever! And how can anybody be modest to a fault? You make no sense my friend!
My johnny how you'v grown as a guitarist! I knew you when you had nowt, i shown you all those chords to Sister Ray's song set. You were my replacement all those years ago. Glad you made it mate !
I put an offer on Reverb today. For a 50th anniversary candy apple red jag. Had a JM MKO on watch. 50th countered. I declined. Got the JM MKO! Don't know why I was hung up on having my 1st jag to have a bound neck. Johnny has fixed all the issues & pups you can't buy without the entire guitar. I'm in!
Well done with the changes on the Jaguar which is a shorter scale guitar than ES-335 that Johny Marr used to play in the 80s but I think that the best guitars for the nowadays are these with the split coil switch from a humbucker to single.
Not sure about the name, but I knew Bill Puplett when he played with a band called Scarecrow, and I believe he mentioned playing in an earlier band called Serendipity.
@@richardnewbery My Dad put out the Scarecrow Marquee LP, always said Bill was the best guitarist bar none. Very sad news for british guitar enthusiasts. My condolences to his family and friends.
Normally a Gibson guy I probably would too. Especially in the upper register. I don’t like solos to ice pick to the ears. But I do enjoy some jangle. I would use it if it was there.
So why do normal guitars have opposite polarity pickups. If the noise canceling effect is so small that Johnny can just woopty doo switch them to the same direction and nothing negative happens. But all these wonderful great things do happen?
So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. A true craftsman and a total gentleman.

Bonamossa doesn't even use his lol. He uses vintage stuff.
Alejandro Cisneros yes he does, stop talking out your butt, go watch a video of him playing live

I own one. My favourite guitar by a mile. Great fun.
Liar.

You can definitely tell Johnny Marr put his passion on designing this guitar. I will definitely be picking one up in the future.
I'm going to get one!
Marr so underrated as guitarist musician.. really a giant of rock and pop and modest to a fault. nice vid...
He is certainly NOT underrated!! He has been recognized as one of the most melodic and original guitarists ever! And how can anybody be modest to a fault? You make no sense my friend!
Besides the (obviously) great playing, one of the best things about this vid is the way Marr says "filter"… just makes me happy. :)
😂

But at what cost did he make it?
Excellent stuff, do you still live Manchester?
@@TheGBs1972 yes i live nearby 🎸
I bought it and it's my number 1 guitar now!!! Great tones!!!

I love bright tones. So a guitar that is 'bright' or sounds bright rather , is a good thing in my opinion.
anonymous bright, jangly sounds are the best
It's almost as if human beings have varied tastes, preferences and particulars from person to person......
I love how on Johnny Marr's guitar signature decal is displayed on the front and J Mascis' is on the back. It speaks to their character, i think.
Looks and sounds great.
It’s amazing how much it has a slight similarity to the Gretsch sound without being hollow body
I'm rebuilding a '62 AVRI so I can really appreciate all the thought and effort that went into this. Someday...
Bill is like "why the fuck am I here Johnny?" 😂

You write like Chris Simpsons Artist lol
I bet you will have to replace the plastic bushing in the future on the Trem bar to have it
stay where you put it.
Was Bill Puplett previously known as BillY Lane (with Tunbridge Wells band Serendipity)?

Has Bill still got his burst?
One day I'm going to have you. This guitar that is
Is that John at Staytrem? I think it is you know
Ah, Bareknuckles. Love them, they've got a pickup for everything.
Switch could be on the pressing the ball up and down to replace the switches some.. sorry! I love inventing
Anyone have any idea if the Johnny Marr bridge will fit into the peg holes of my vintera Jag?
It should. It's from a mustang bridge
what kinda strap is that? anyone know?
I’d like to get one, but actually I struggle quite a lot with it’s looks
i love l want i need
i want one of these but the cost. oh my.. next best thing squire jag and modify
I use the rhythm circuit.... 🤨

@@simonsmith2642 get the regular plate that goes there then... it's urs to customize
You're supposed to adjust the colet when the arm gets loose and wobbly.
They need to put it out in seafoam green, instead of that gruesome burnt orange. I like the pale gold metalic on his personal Jag as well!!
You seen the forest green one?
The term arm on mine swings more than Sinatra. Don’t know why, the bushing doesn’t do anything.

Beautiful guitar ..great alternative player ..you don’t need to shred to be good ..uses the guitar to ..not like a lot of signature guitars ..
Jeez, 2 fakking grand!
Y is BIll feelin uncomfortable? Bad day maybe.
Looks like he is boring old Bill
for god sakes, this goes to anyone that interviews Johnny Marr, MIC HIM!
Brilliant guitar player but barely speaks above a whisper
Brendan McCusker are you deaf?
The mic is terrible in this video
Great video, impressive guitar. (Sidebar question: is that a very subdued Dudley Moore playing the Fender dude?)
