Great timing. Got a Jag last week from you guys. One purists don’t like. Already modded it. The everlasting talk about shortscale being for people with small hands/ fingers. As a Les Paul guy I like the shorter scale. Perfect couch guitar.
True. The small hands argument is an oversimplification. Even if you have large hands it makes chords easier and more comfortable to play. The fact that Fender went with 24” for shorter scale is that opposed to acoustic guitars you don’t need higher string tension to activate the soundboard.
I think the metal claws also raise the inductance of the pickups, making them sound darker than Strat single coils. And the pots are 1Meg to open up the high frequencies, so that they don't sound too dark.
I still have my 1962 jaguar that I got in my high school years. Sadly, my Mom made me trade in a 1950's telecaster to get it. I wanted something "flashy"so I also passed on getting a strat. The story gets worse because the salesman suggested a nice used Les Paul, but I wanted something with a trem bar.
It might be a genre thing. Surf obviously which isn’t what you guys normally play. Grunge of course.. But there are also blues and Americana artists like Pokey la Farge and CW Stoneking who switched from big hollowbodies to Jazzmasters. I got a CV jaguar and like it.
Never had one but i have always liked it. First of all the bodystyle is so comfy. Second the scale length is also more comfy than the 25,5 plus you got the fender sound in a very nice package.
The 50's Jazzmaster is a gem in Fenders current line. I dont understand why there is no 'Road Series' though. They were slightly better on attention to details and worth the extra bit of flash.
The Classic Vibe Jag must have fairly high-output single-coils to hit 109 dB on the decibel meter. Not playing some surf on a Jag with some waggle of the wiggle stick is a crime. 🏄♂️🤙
It's kind of a second setting for the neck pickup since it has it's own volume and tone, and they are wired with different values from the main controls (which are bypassed in the rhythm circuit.)
@@joermnyc yes I get that part, What I don't get so which rock guitarist or rock band uses the Jaguar/Jazzmaster RHYTHM Channel? I'm not sure who uses the Rhythm channel or what use it has. It sounds very muddy which its meant for playing Jazz music it seems. There must be Rock Bands/Rock guitarist that have used the RHYTHM channel
@@waynegram8907oh man… this is easy. If you’re a rhythm guitarist and what heavy/chunky distortion, the rhythm circuit is fantastic. Listen to Weezer’s blue album and how thick the guitar sounds on “Buddy Holly.” A Jag’s rhythm circuit can get you a thicker tone than just switching to the neck pickup on the lead circuit because they have different cap values (I think… pretty sure that’s accurate). Anyway, give “Buddy Holly” a listen, then grab a Jag, flip it to the rhythm circuit, throw on a distortion pedal and you should be able to closely replicate the Blue Album guitar tone.
OH MY FUCKING BOALLZZZ :OOOOOOOOOOOO IT'S JAGUAR TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No really I'm happy with that video and yes to me the Jaguar is the better strat, cos I've never achieved the same stuff like on my jag or tele, but I respect anyone who can play with them nicely :D My Jag is japanese Fender one and when I was playing it for the first time it was like this is my go to guitar for rocking out and I played a lot with it for practising or playing around with fx and full on both PU's + the strangle switch on. I do love how kinda variabel can the jaguar sound and what kind of sound you can achieve with it. Sounds perfect with light crunch, with boss SD-1, Boss DS-2 and a Fuzz. So my most used sound setting I've been using on my jag, the rythmn circuit, the bridge pickup only or all 2 PU's with the strangle switch.
Body shape is the same as the Jazzmaster, but with the scale difference the bridge and tailpiece are not in the same locations. The claw is part of the grounding, something about RF interference... of course the top of the pickup is still exposed to RF hum so, 🤷♂️
It’s close, but not quite the same shape. The Jaguar has a bit more cutaway on the upper horn, probably done to aid the thumb while accessing that 22nd fret. Btw, the Jag was the first Fender to get an extra fret, which is now common on American made Strats and Teles.
und jetzt nehmt noch die affigen Single Coils raus und packt anständige P90 (single coils) rein... nein, keine Humbucker!!!!!! ;-) und dann hört der Spaß mit einer Jaguar nicht mehr auf ;-)
Showing off how microphonic the pickups on the Squier are.
Love the Jag sound!

Except the rhythm circuit, the tone is only 50k, and volume is a linear tape 1Meg. compared to the audio taper in the other circuit.

I have two Jaguar's, and I love them, and I want that white one!

Listening to you guys play, especially with some of the overdriven sounds, you can hear why a lot of '90s grunge bands chose a Jaguar.

How can you not love Jaguar?
Jazzmaster its more mid scooped, than Jaguar that its more mid forward less low end and treble
Sounds nothing like i thought. The neck pickup sounds very nice. Ill stick to my telecaster though!

I bought one exactly like kris one, and i did because i love johnny Marr🙂
Marr is awesome! //Kris
What is the Jaguar rhythm channel used for? Any examples? I have no idea what to use it for

@ maybe some surf rock, with the old mute engaged (properly set up it won’t throw you out of tune, but the screws to adjust it are under the bridge.)
