There are the moments I miss my ex wife....just bittersweet memories..we got married young and I just couldn't be what she needed. Just one of those things in life that just is..have a wonderful night everyone.
Same here but born in ‘87. There’s something truly magical about this song, the melody, and instrumentation. Always hits me hard. I’m looking forward to seeing him live soon!
I was born in '63, and yeah, there are some songs that stand the test of time, and this is one of them! I'm here in Nashville now, where this was done. I gotta go down to where they record it, cause they have immense talent coming through there!
Dave Mason! Your songs STILL RESOUND IN MY HEAD, MY HEART, MY HISTORY AND MY MEMORIES… and guess what? Still FIT TODAY after all these years!! Thank you!! Rock On and know how many of us THANK YOU! HEARD YOU!! FELT YOU AND APPRECIATE YOU!! Peace ☮️
I don't know much, but I do know awesome. And this, my friends, is awesome. Timeless, classic, masterpiece by a very underrated musician. Could listen to this every day until eternity, and never get tired of it. Thank you, Dave
I saw Dave Mason in 1977 with a buddy at Lehigh university, and then again around 1984 at the Palomino - an intimate venue! This guy has such an enormous talent and a very deep soul. He’s been playing behind so many greats, it’s unfathomable that he’s not revered like Clapton. This recording, he’s doing in the same key as he did in the 80s. Now he’s moved it down to a little lower pitch. His voice is older, and he’s still a joy to listen to. As a diehard Beatles fan I have to say that this song stands up to much of the Beatles’ work. That is saying a LOT. What a gifted composer. AND clearly he must be easy to work with since he’s partnered with so many greats.
My first favorite song. my dad called am radio and requested it for me. 43 years later...never forget. Not to mention the timeless truth of this song. God Bless you Dave!
I agree! I've been checking out all the videos, and all of them are great. Sad song. I wish my neighbors could hear this and feel what it means, because they're about to split after 35 years!
@Zizzyyzz I hear you but when I hear this song I hear two people that understand the terrain they find themselves deployed in and know that they have to go their separate ways, but that doesn't mean that it has to be violent and bad breakup.
Dave Mason was the first concert I ever saw. It was at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach California. Awesome show Awesome career. You've gotta love Dave Mason.
A song of our times, for humanity to actually listen to and understand that it's okay to not always agree but you can still be friends if you choose to be.
Had the chance to have a couple of drinks with Dave while working as a bartender at the Underground Wonder Bar in Chicago a few years back. It was a quiet afternoon, just me and him in the place. We had a great conversation about everything/nothing, shared a few laughs and he was gone. Very casual, matter of fact kinda guy. I loved this short time we spent together hearing a few stories about his life and feeling the history of rock and roll in his energy.....
Is that your pastime, you fucking twit? Ruin good, real stories with millennial, snarky, immature and bratty bullshit? Just another douchebag mined up by the internet. Way to be.
Scott, I guess #pappyschmears just came out of the closet by exposing his persuasion. That generation, lost to real music, rather listen to nursery rhymes from no-talent street trash anyway. That's why they are so angry and lost. As far as Dave goes. Just seems like a down to earth musician (who can sing and play the strings). Saw him playing at Western Ky University in 1977. Walked in at the beginning of this song. Always been a favorite.
This song is one of my all-time favorites. The lyrics are kind of sad, but the melody is very soothing. My dad and I never liked the same style of music, but we both agreed that this was a good song. I miss you Dad. Thank you for always being there.
Wow he sounds great. Even a better singer than in the old days, and he was always a great singer. And 40 years later, he's singing this in the same key, hasn't lowered it a few steps like many singers have to. Rock on, Dave.
Dave Mason was my first concert to go to about 1972 at Winterland in San Francisco. Ive been a fan ever since. I think he’s been the most unappreciated guitarist singer song writer. He’s rightfully so in the Rock n Roll hall of fame. It’s wonderful to see him still performing
Beautiful, mellow song that's always nice to hear, even after many years. Brings back nostalgic feeling for me. I remember 1977, living as a teen in NYC. Skyline view of Manhattan from my Queens apartment, with the sun setting behind the Empire State Building. Probably getting ready to jump on my ten-speed for a couple miles through the neighborhood before dark and maybe a slice of pizza on the way home.
Around 82 or 83 while at Chico State University I got to see Dave in a small club and sat righ up front. He preformed with 3 other acoustic guitar players. It was the best music experience I've ever had. I'd love to see him again acoustically.
I saw Dave Mason around 2009 at a festival concert. At that time I had heard of him but really didn't know his songs or his background. He did one hell of a great show. He was probably over 60 years old and he played and sang great. It was one of those occasions where you are at a concert and someone comes out that you really don't know who they are and they blow you away with a great show.
Love Dave and all of his music. Wherever he goes to after death I hope to God that I go to that place to be around the very likes of this guy, a warrior and liver of peace.
I love the maturity of his voice in this version. As good, or perhaps even better than the original because he's lived life and brings that to the song. I know this video is 5 years old now, but damn, his voice certainly lost no power in 2013. Hope that's still true.
picture it. 1976, Manhattan's upper east side. a small club called JPs. First Ave. Word quietly got out that Dave Mason would perform in this tiny place. I was having an affair with my husband's cousin and we decided to attend. [this was before the Ted Danson/Isabella Rosselini movie but the plot was the same] . I carried a leather shoulder bag that night. At one point, I tapped Bobby on the shoulder and said "look". I had removed my arm from the bag and it stayed in the air being held up by the other people who were packed in like sardines. I think of this every time I hear Dave Mason and have no idea why that night is so vivid.
Dave's voice has aged very well. Dave sounds better. I have the original release on VINYL MINT CONDITION OF "Alone Together" so no need to disagree glad I found this.
Long time Rock and Roll fan here. I just never had the chance to appreciate the greatness of Dave Mason until I started looking around here on UA-cam. This is a such a great song: great lyrics and wonderful melody and I love the acoustic guitars.
Great, great song! Dave Mason is one of the few musicians who always sounded the same live as he did in the studio. Still as good today as back in the Traffic days.
I was in jr. high when this song first came out. I fell in love with it then and still love it now. maybe the best 3 minute song ever. it's message is a powerful one...., when good friendships go awry it's usually nobody's fault. no need to point fingers. say goodbye and move on in peace.
There are some songs that are just magical, this is one.
👍Well stated my friend
We dont disagree about that.
Yes you’re right.
I agree 100%

Still listening here in Ireland ☘️ 2024. Classic.
Why does this song always make me cry? I am a gen X'er born in 68. I was like 9 when this song came out.. Just a wonderful melody.

Just as powerful 45 years later. Love this song.
I will never grow tired of hearing this wonderful, amazing tune.

What a song, they don’t make music like this anymore!
Yeah they do. This is great, but 100000000% not the last good song ever written
America...the WORLD needs this song now more than ever.
Amen.
Totally
Another Great Song Im listening to this Great Music from Boomer Generation Cant Top It
We need to lose some weight is what we need.
Legend goes my father almost burned down Williamstown college theatre lighting a doob back in 71. Mr. Dave Mason was playing.
This is a treasure.
What a timeless song.
Great vibrato.... Brings me back to riding in my Gremlin, blasting my Dave Mason 8-track tape.
Ahhhhhhh

THIS WARMS MY HEART! Another one who made it through the storm. Dave Mason is an ICON.
I agree! I've been checking out all the videos, and all of them are great. Sad song. I wish my neighbors could hear this and feel what it means, because they're about to split after 35 years!
David Regan That's too bad. But I doubt it would help since it's a breakup song.
@Zizzyyzz I hear you but when I hear this song I hear two people that understand the terrain they find themselves deployed in and know that they have to go their separate ways, but that doesn't mean that it has to be violent and bad breakup.
No matter what version this man sings it totally blows me away. Absolutely brilliant, when music was music.

That drummer is killing it.
His voice at 1:44 is just remarkable. Dave effortlessly turns on that gritty growl for a split second, then it’s gone… remarkable
Seen this fella back in 76 or 77,went by myself, high school mates weren't interested, knew it was going to be good, was wrong, was GREAT
Three minutes of pure heaven.

That song is a challenge on drums for certain- dude just lays it down like warm butter.

In my top 10, and will never be replaced.
About 42 years ago at West Chester College, he stood ten feet away from me in the auditorium, amazing ! your the man Dave...
This song is emotional for me. Brings back lots of childhood memories, when my mom and brothers were alive, some real exciting and fun times.
Dang, this ole boy still has the song and the voice....love it.
There is miles of wisdom in the lyrics. Sometimes its healthier to part ways than to drag out the pain.
I don't understand how anybody could give this a thumbs down.. It is so good I played it several times and then favorited it. Very nice
Beautiful Mr. Dave! I remember this from my childhood. I still love it, dont you dare turn that off!
After all these years,he still kills it! Keep on truckin' Dave!
Some things stick with ya for a lifetime,Thanks DAVE MASON
Wow he's still a record quality performer that is just incredible. He is a part of my life growing up in the 70's and I loved every minute of it.
story teller poetry, anybody that’s lived a little bit of life knows this song well.. it’s the painfulness of needing to be right instead of at peace
Damn. I just noticed a tear rolling down my right cheek.
Oh my my what a beautiful song. So relaxing. Thank You.
Man that guitar has one of the warmest, sweetest tones. Just gorgeous.
Hes using Nashville tuning so there's a few different strings on his guitar..I luv the sound
Love this man!! Such an artist! Nice to see you again Dave. It's been almost 35 years...❤️❤️❤️
Wowwww!!!! I haven't heard this song in 50 year's. Wow. Still beautiful. :-)

I've been meaning to say for years WOW Dave Mason! what a beautiful song 💕
Now this is what you call music to my ears. Thank you.
voice hasn't change after all this time. Great
In 2021 still love this classic song. I'm 58 and still appreciate this song. Puppy love is still good.
Awww, Dave! Still amazing! Grew up and growing old with this!

Long time Rock and Roll fan here. I just never had the chance to appreciate the greatness of Dave Mason until I started looking around here on UA-cam. This is a such a great song: great lyrics and wonderful melody and I love the acoustic guitars.
that song is so simple and well written, I remember it as a kid hearing it on a NYC AM station ...and at 5 yrs old, loved it.
I LOVE this song. And my giant Macaw loves it, too. He rocked out to it, dancing and at one point calling out, "WOO WOO!" 😂🦜
Mad Greek
Blessed to have this in my DVD collection.listen to the words these lyrics say it all classic classic classic.
Great to see this under-rated musician performing as good as ever. Excellent video - thank you.
Of course he's awesome, he was born in the same city as me and we're all incredible from Worcester, UK ;)
WELL DONE sir! Still as good as the original! GREAT old song!
This song touches my soul.
Great, great song! Dave Mason is one of the few musicians who always sounded the same live as he did in the studio. Still as good today as back in the Traffic days.
Scott Low A lot of musicians from times past sound as good or better as they did live. It's today's "musicians" that don't.
Oh man. If there's a better live performance of anything, I've never seen it.
Incredible. Amazing as ever. Sounds so good.
I just love this song and love Dave Mason.
One of my all time favorites...along with only you know and I know and look at you.. look at me. Hell...the whole "Alone together album " .
For the hopeful romantics among us, for those who remember when love was an ember with it's glow, turned way down low. But about to billow.
one of the greats from 60's and 70's,just listen to some of the old traffic stuff, with him, steve winwood, and calpaldi, classic
