OK, boomer. The early 70s had some of the worst music, second worst to the 90s (and obviously 2000s+ isn't even music). Music pop culture pinnacle was the 1982-1993. The best stuff every recorded came out then, which of course built on the 70s. The 80s stuff wouldn't exist without the 70s influence.
I met Dave after a concert in Las Vegas many years ago. He was such a nice guy. We ended up talking about guitars and he then wrote me a nice autograph note.
In my "Tender Years" my first love & lover, 3&1/2 yrs together, this song saved my life & healed my Broken 💔 Heart after we said goodbye to our relationship. I mentioned that to Dave once on a G+Social & thanked hime for recording it, with his personal touch added to it. And Dave Mason being Dave, wanted to hear my whole story. I hit 69 a few months back & still play this tune a few time per week. Thanks Again Dave. 😎 🎶🎸🎵
We are getting older, but the music is timeless. It has so much meaning for me today...kept going back to a relationship off and on for 20 years until it became so toxic and hateful that it hurts.
Cool. Though it’s kind of distressing to see trumps face in your thumbnail. What a CHUD is that man. Absolute ass and stupid failure. But have an awesome day. I love this song as well!
Yes definitely Steve Winwood too. 10 years ago in Sussex County NJ at outdoor Rock, Ribs, and Ridges. Dave hit the stage and had to ask where's the rest of the town.
This song song came out within days of a horrific break-up with my first love and the love of my life, over a misunderstanding we didn't discover until 25 years later! It made my cry then as it does now. I couldn't listen to music for several years. Then, in 1986, I saw Dave live at the Hampton Beach Casino. I went with a guy on my first date since the break-up, who enticed me with a ticket to the concert and who turned out to be a royal jerk. When Dave began this song, I left the table and walked to the back of the room just behind and to the side of the stage. I stood there frozen under the archway, trying to hold back the tears. And though I'm quite sure he doesn't remember it, in the middle of the song he turned around and our eyes locked for several seconds. When the concert was over and the crowd had all cleared out, I'd hoped to tell him how much this song meant to me, but when alone in the hall with my date standing a few feet away, Dave nodded to me as he walked past me and I just nodded back without a word. I said nothing because 1) what this song meant, and still means to me, defies description and, 2) I was afraid that the guy I was with who talked non-stop in a loud and obnoxious voice would not only embarrass the hell out of me but also subject Dave to a lot of ridiculous blather. Though I have really liked several bands over the years, I'm not a follower of bands. (Leonard Cohen is the closest thing I've had to an idol in the industry.) I never knew all the names of the band members, all the names of every song of a band, etc., like so many do, but this man and this song will forever remain in my heart. I so wish I could see him this summer in Derry, NH but I haven't been able to leave my house since the pandemic began and doubt I will ever be able to go to a concert (or a movie or restaurant) again because of Covid and all the other bugs now running around, along with the arrival of the Super Bug, since I am in two high-risk categories for death. But, that's life I guess. Much love to Dave and his band! 💞
As a 53 yr old musician. I’ve always loved this song. The style, the harmonies. And, it’s my go to karaoke song when I’m tuned up… Well, purple rain if I’m 4 shots in… ha. But, that’s a different story. Dave was and is a great song writer. And I thank him for many years of pissing off my neighbors putting this song on 11….
Other than "We Just Disagree" and "Words" what other songs did Jim Krueger contribute to?... Dave Mason and Jim Krueger were able to fill an auditorium with awesome pure gold sound with only two guitars and no other band was needed. Jim Krueger passed away much too soon but Dave Mason has helped him live on..
Time to time, I find myself returning to the Midnight Special Live performance of this song. Today I listened to this performance. Dave if you ever read this? Your singing to this day. Still raises the hairs on my arm, and pluck's a sweet chord in my heart, hearing your song. Thank You
Saw Dave Mason in a local rock club with Al Stewart in 1983. Great double bill, with both of them playing and singing some of each others songs. It was a fun night.
I looked for this song and found where it was put out however long ago it was. Now I've found it again, from 4 years ago. Dave Mason's still one hell of a singer. ❤️
I heard this at a free concert in central park NYC. At the ice skating rink. It was the summer of 1971. It was called the song writers show. It featured John Denver , Jonathan Edward's and another performer and it was free
We met backstage in Lincoln Nebraska winter 1975. One of the few concert nights I still remember. We shook hands. I was struck by how large your hands were, yet they were so nimble on the guitar. Great concert!
Saw you in the late 80s in Sacramento. You were nice to your fans signed their albums took photos even when you were exhausted you didn’t leave until the last one.
Use to play this song a lot on my guitar at homme in the mid seventies. Was serving in the US Navy during that time and one of the most emotional experiences I ever had was when I had come back from a deployment and my wife told me that my son heard the song on the radio and said to her "Hey mommy, it's daddy!" WOW! I have never forgotten how that made me feel!
Anybody over 60 is blessed by the golden age of music.
AMEN!

Been loving this song since the 70's and he still sounds great. Keep doing your thing. Love this song.
Same! Old music is the best
Thanks Dave for this timeless song!
Agree.
I met Dave after a concert in Las Vegas many years ago. He was such a nice guy. We ended up talking about guitars and he then wrote me a nice autograph note.
This song came out when my parents were getting divorced. This has extra special meaning to me.
This is why 70's music is great
Chris cross , Dave Mason, harry chapn , dr hook great great songwriters.
Dave didn't write this song
Oh my heart be still....one of the best....ever! Life itself explained in the most simple terms, everyone's felt this to the marrow.
Still singing along to this beautiful song. Brings back Way Back memories. Thanks Dave for sharing your wonderful gift with us

This song popped in my head ...I was stunned by the words...and said to myself..I have to find this song..and here I am...
Cool. Though it’s kind of distressing to see trumps face in your thumbnail. What a CHUD is that man. Absolute ass and stupid failure.
But have an awesome day. I love this song as well!
Dave is a great writer, singer, guitarist and all around musician. Love to listen to him.
Such a beautiful song. My mom use to listen to this song when I was little. And I still today at 57❤
What a privilege to hear this guy sing this song so accurately all these years later. Wow. 👍👍👍👍👑
Grew up listening to this on the jukebox my mom had in the living room. Played all weekend. Man what a trip back in time.
Dave, this song still gives me goosies.....even after all these years. Rock on!
Sounds fantastic! Real music, I miss it.
One of the underrated rock gods..🙂👍🎸
I couldn't agree more definitely underated.
Yup- along with sreve winwood and richie furay

For sure he is a rock god...

Best break up song ever written
Man ain’t that the truth it’s amazing
Might be the best live version ever.
That and Time for Me to Fly by REO Speedwagon!
Song still sounds great with senior voices!
Love the song and love Dave. Saw you perform this in New York City back in the 70s when I was a teenager. Great memories.
As a 53 yr old musician. I’ve always loved this song. The style, the harmonies. And, it’s my go to karaoke song when I’m tuned up…

Cool tribute to the Man. His history is legend. Prince...yeah me too.
Ha.
Incredible song as always. The twelve string by Dave Mason really rings and resounds to the words and thoughts of Jim Krueger. Extra special song.
Other than "We Just Disagree" and "Words" what other songs did Jim Krueger contribute to?... One of my favorite songs to see you do live.
That’s why I play the 12, sounds like a symphony in it self. Loved this since the day it came out
So distinctive of a sound! Great choice
One of my all time favorites Dave! You are the man! Always like listening to your music bro!
I remember this song on my mother's stereo-phonic.... now on my cell phone sent to my sound bar. Suddenly I miss my mom's stereo-phonic ALOT.
He has the Best Voice ... Very harmonic .. and smooth at once
YES!!!!!!! THANKS FOR GETTING BETTER W TIME!😘
It is in my list of perfect songs of the 70's. The list includes If You Could Read My Mind and Year Of The Cat.
Some of my very favorites as well.
Seen Dave in Hawaii 25 years ago
My little girl in my lap in front of the stage
He got on his knees and played to her
One of the all time greats. Best wishes to Dave for a speedy recovery from his current heart condition.

Criminally underrated.
sometimes the simplicity of something is the best..just like this masterpiece
Remember listening this on the radio. Brings back great memories, when there was a new hit song every week or so.
Wow... I haven't heard this song in years... Fantastic then and Still Amazing!
Brilliant. Still has the VOICE. ROCKSTAR 🎉
What a beatiful song that still holds up today 🎵
I saw Dave at the golden bear in Huntington Beach in 1979. Great time. Still kickin.

Gorgeous. Fantastic song and performance.
I love this classic song, it resonates with me today.
This is a sort of anthem for bittersweet parting with someone you used to love, but never found common ground.
Dave's amazing. Great memories. Still has it!!
On my list and huge Gretsch drums fan.
Oh, my gosh! I love this! Take me back, Lord🙏❤️❤️❤️
That "when I'm just trying to get along" line @ 1:45 with the added rasp to his vocals is goose bump worthy
Ah! The human condition….This guy got it just right. Beautiful!
Those harmonies still give me chills ! Beautiful timeless songwriter 👍
He sounds great, like aged wine❤
He still sounds great !
Saw you in 1986 or 1987 during a low point in your life Kansas City at a small club. Thank GOD you pulled out of it. You are so talented.
Saw Greg play this at MSG in NY, 7/7/77. It was their Works Tour but he played this too. Magnificently
It still sounds great all these years later

Ah, I love a 12-string guitar. And this is one of those songs that will always be relevant.
76yo here. Man, I don't get goosebumps often....
😂🤣😂 I had this on eight track back in the seventies. I haven't heard it in years but I knew every word and just had to sing along 😂 Such a classic!!!
What a performance!! No other band like it!!
The harmonies in this song are incredible
I haven't heard this in ages. Funny the way music can take you back to a specific moment, like you are there all over again.
