Today I went out for a solo duck hunting in the kayak on public land. We had a cold front push new birds into the area, and I wanted to set up in a good spot. I managed to decoy some wood ducks and I smoked them both! It wasn't a banger hunt, but it was still good for how early into the season it is. Public land duck hunting always keeps you on your toes!

Does anyone get so happy when they see outdoor limits has a new video?
I second the woodies bro shirt
Just another tuber that likes to see himself on film more than the actual hunting!!
Enjoy these videos 10000000% more than a field of 15 dudes in a ditch or A-Frames. Actually been digging your channel a Ton since You’ve scaled it back to just the solo hunts and stuff of that nature. Do miss the old stuff with Luke as well tho but the big group field stuff was kind of blah
Me to Steve agree with you 100%
Preach it
Just doing what I can. The field hunts are a blast though. I’d take hunting a field over water any day of the week.
Love the vids on of my favorites duck hunting youtubers because almost every thing you do isn’t to expensive for a hunter that doesn’t have time/ money to hunt.
I got a quad last year and it was a game changer for me on so many levels. No more dragging deer 1/4 mile back to the suv. And no more carrying gear deep into the woods.
Make a woodies bro shirt I’ll buy
@Fur/fish/hunt agreed
Woodies are the most fun duck to hunt. Best tasting duck, best looking duck, and best duck to hunt. I'm getting a huge drake woody mounted and I can't wait to see how it turns out
I got a small rechargeable spotlight. Game changer.
If you want to order an Outdoor Limits hat or a Mallards Bro Shirt clock here: bit.ly/2osLio4
It never fails, as soon as you start to pick up they start moving, same here in East TN
Stg bro. Seems like every single time ya go to leave they start poppin up outta literally NO WHERE! Also as soon as shootin time is over the skies jus turn black with ducks!
Middle TN btw
Woodies are special birds
I love the kayak hunting videos
Your vids get me so hyped and ready to go hunting!
try tying a piece of 550 cord or even decoy line to your paddle and then back to the kayak with just enough slack to paddle but not too much that it gets in the way. Then you don't have to worry about losing your paddle
Your happy attitude makes your video's enjoyable
The pole idea works. One on each side works really well. I have yak attack rod holders on each side of mine and you can point them at the water and stick a pole right through them. Love shooting woodies!
I’ve been looking at getting a little sneak boat for next season so been taking a lot of notes from these recent vids. Like the channel a lot
Love hearing the woodies coming in. That’s all I usually see out duck hunting. Never see mallards. But this year I’ve only got 1 woodie the rest have been mallards. Awesome year so far!
I loved hunting out of my kayak. For losing your paddle I always kept a small canoe paddle as back-up in the kayak
Sick hunt dude, cant beat that kayak duck hunting!!
Nice video bud. Love the woodies.
I have almost always had a kayak because of the wild rice on my pond, but I got a PPF mud motor on my 12 foot flat bottom Jon boat and that has literally been a game changer for me!
You need to get a 10 foot slick bottom boat with a 25 horse copperhead mudmotor and you’ll be able to go anywhere!
I use two 7/8" fiberglass garden stakes to hold my 12' tin boat in place, one on bow and one for the stern. You could probably get away with a slightly smaller diameter for the kayak.
In South Carolina you see 93% wood ducks everyday. Most plentiful bird here. Wish we could say the same about mallards
When I got a Sawyer squeeze water filter it revolutionized backpacking for me.
i have a fishing kayak and i need to try it for hunting
Happy to,hear you off those so,called energy drinks , good move !
Those ButtUp Ripplers are perfect when theres no wind and you have no spinners I speak from experience in low light the birds cant resist those things dude
I think it works great!
Yesterday we had a group of 12-15 teal fly over when we were setting decoys. Then had probably 50 come by when we were picking them up. Never fails lol.
Every time
If you ever come to Arkansas I’d love to take you on some timber hunts!
Purchased an Ascend fs12t from BassPro two years ago and just started duck hunting with it this season. Beats the shit out of walking and now I can get to places I couldn't before and places my XPress boat is too much trouble to boat in.
I use ski poles they work easy shove in the slots on the sides and the handle won’t go threw holes it’ll keep you in place.
Great hunt, wood ducks are beautiful!
I got the beavertail phantom last year its one of my best investment I have made its has changed the way I duck hunt and lets hunt places I never could before
I love woodies... one of the ponds I hunt typically sees 3-4 doz at a time come in...
good hunt!!
I love watching your videos because your so energetic
I don’t have a retriever so I need these yak videos to show me how to do it, would love to see a yak layout/loadout for the ‘20 season
Digging the kayak got one myself. Good idea with trying to reduce drag. Not sure if you have any divers near you but if you have a anchor trolley and a tree you can hammer them with a few lines of decoys strung out from the yak
I have a mud boat and it helps me duck hunt and get through mud really easy
I like the kayak Bro nice video 👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻beatiful ducks
They make power poles for kayaks if you want to get one Outdoor Limits.
Great videos as always bud, love the woodies 👊👍👍
I have a 14 foot flat bottom that is great for fishing in back water but I have Sund a lot of time and energy into trolling and push polling where that boat just doesn't want to go. I have a 17 foot canoe that will go through just about anything and I can drag it up into the bushes out of sight easily.
Nice Woodi drakes, keep up the good work. Can’t wait for field hunts and you should come hunt in Washington we have huge mallards and snows here.
Never say u are old because one day u are gonna look back at this vid when u like 84 u will be like I was so young back then
Tip call the woodies you can watch a duck dynasty vid showing how
Go park your kayak in the middle of a big lake and set decoys around it if allowed by the department of wildlife in Kansas. It's a hell of a lot more different than parking along the shore
Can you do a video of the kayak blind set up? Like how it is attached. brands etc
Really love your videos man! I’ve never duck hunted before but I’m currently building a kayak to do so!!
We use 5 dozen decoys and two mojos in the marsh and we bearly got to call they just fly right into ower speard its been working like that this season so far
Come down to Georgia. All the woodies you want.
Dragging decoys behind your kayak can be a pain. Definitely better to just putting them in
Nice men good job o the ducks 🦆
The main reason I use a sled behind my kayak, is because my dog sits in the back of the kayak lol
Awesome kill and plz do a video about duck calling with footage and when to use which call type I have a good idea but it’s just a question
I really enjoy your videos Sir, I learn allot from you..
Year of the good acorns=more wood ducks
Nice job , super video 👍👍
No woodies in Denmark 😢😭
Another great video.
Anchor trolly also works
They already make the poles that you are talking about
when will the ducks blades hoodies be back in stock in adult small
In Oklahoma there’s a lot of big ducks right now
Get gatorglide g2 paint and slap it on the kayak.Trust me,its the best investment you'll ever invest in.also forgot to say to invest in some conduit fasteners and 3/4" emt poles for some cheap anchor poles and spray it all flat black...less than $20.give me a holler if you need help.
I’d love to, but I want the friction to hold me steady in the water. It would be good for protecting the hull though
I was wondering if you ever shot any woodies.
a jet sled or a decoy sled changes everything
Love your videos man. I'm a waterfowl hunter from ontario canada. Planning to start a channel myself!
Awesome hunt.
Where did you buy your kayak blind ? I have an Ascent 12T
You need to put a tether on your paddle. You dont have to ever worry about losing it in the water
It Floats anyway. Plus a gun stock can double as a paddle in a pinch
Awesome Video!!!
everything froze up north and all the birds left so be ready for a big push
You’re right: work smarter, not harder.
Are you worried about flipping it in the river with your waders?
good hunt
Cant find laws regarding lakes for hunting. What makes a lake legal to hunt ducks on vs one that isnt?
Hey Brotha, they make a yak pole to do exactly what you need!
Could you send me a link?
Outdoor Limits scroll through and you should find the poles but they are pricey www.yakattack.us/by-application/stakeout-poles-push-poles/
www.austinkayak.com/products/5627/YakAttack-ParkNPole-Stakeout-Pole-6-Foot.html
Great video
Great video where’s Luke been?
He moved away
Smart move brother get away from the energy and stick with coffee
Just maybe an idea that you should put a tether to your paddle the tie the other end to your kayak so you can drop it in the water and not have to worry about losing it. If you like this idea can reply to my comments hope it work and keep up the amazing videos. Ps I love ducking to.
My paddle floats so its not a huge deal if it gets dropped in the water. I can always use my gun as a paddle in a pinch
are u ever going to do a hunting trip to Canada?
Come to Carolinas bro mostly all we shoot is woodies lol
What make blind do you use in the kayak
If I may, where are you located...?
22 is not old my Friend. You have a long!!!!!
way to go
Also can you make a camo water proof jacket
Hey Josh big fan. Just got back from killing some birds with my wife this morning. 4 Gaddies. Just wanted to let you know, I've use those cheap winchester shells for a long time. For the first time this morning tho I used some Remington hyper sonic shells and Winchester blind sides. Seriously, Game changers. Worth the extra $$$$. Anyway, love your videos, good luck.
Dell GREGg I would stay away from hypersonics. My buddies Barrel blew up while shooting them and they do not pattern well. I’ve also heard from many others about barrels blowing up with em
Thanks for letting me know. I'm trying to stay clear of those xpert winchester shells. I have tried them several different times in different shotguns and in each one they pattern like crap.
Ive killed more ducks with super X than any other shell. Shoot em close and it doesn't matter what shell you shoot
22 ?!? No way.
Mounting my drake woodie hes a stud
Put a black light on it when you get it home. They Frickin GLOW!
Wut up yesterday I shot a green wing teal Drake and I'm mounting it
Peyton Damrow where do you hunt haha we shoot these all the time
I live in Oregon so I go to Miller iland and Gore iland
What one guys normal duck is another guys trophy. I shoot mostly mallards, wood ducks, an occasional teal and different types of divers, I’d love to get a wigeon or pintail. But I’m sure there’s dudes that shoot them all the time. And the teal i get never have any plumage If I were to get a full plumage blue or green winger I’d definitely mount it. Cool looking birds
CHASE 26Gen4 shot a two man of only pintail and widgeon the other day lol. Hunted all my life and I’ve never shot a green head though.
@@hollandkaminskiperez3444 this year all i shot was greenheads and divers. I'd trade 10 fully plummaged green heads for a pintail. Id love to get a pintail mount. I think those r the coolest looking birds
When you shoot do you aim for the duck and pull through? or lead in front at same speed as the duck?
I have used a kayak on our river for several years. What is the brand of your kayak and where did you get the blind for it.?? I usually just float the river and jump shoot. Great video.
I just haven’t finished your video. You did say you have an old town kayak and a redhead kayak blind. Again great video.
Haha I kill about 150 wood ducks a season. It’s all we kill down in South Mississippi😂
Love the videos! Would love to hear more calling if possible. Keep them coming!
Ive never shot a wood duck before but i want to
what type of camera do you use ?
I have 2 of those butt ripplers and love them
If you want to kill more woodies get in the flooded timber they'll be around
The woods decoy like fuckin mallards behind my house
