In New York Harbor stands a lady, With a torch raised to the sky; And all who see her know she stands for Liberty for you and me. I'm so proud to be called an American, To be named with the brave and the free; I will honor our flag and our trust in God, And the Statue of Liberty. On lonely Golgotha stood a cross, With my Lord raised to the sky; And all who kneel there live forever As all the saved can testify. I'm so glad to be called a Christian, To be named with the ransomed and whole; As the statue liberates the citizen, So the cross liberates the soul. Oh the cross is my Statue of Liberty, It was there that my soul was set free; Unashamed I'll proclaim that a rugged cross Is my Statue of Liberty!

This song has lots of meaning to it. The words are beautiful. This song was sung in the 1980's by our youth Quoir at the United Pentecostal camp grounds in Lufkin Texas. The Holy Ghost filled the building there was a great awakening that night. 🙏👐👐👐
I wrote Statue of Liberty 🗽 in the summer of 1975. I was visiting in New York and my step father took me to Ellis Island to see the Statue of Liberty. Ivan Parker recorded Statue of Liberty for the bicentennial year in 1976.
This song was written in 1974 by Neil Enloe, the Pianist and Lead Singer with The Couriers. Neil Enloe is the only author of this song and he won the Dove Award for this song!
Always wondered who wrote this song. Many groups, including one local group in Middle Georgia, now disbanded, has recorded this song. I love ❤️ singing it myself. Thank you for your contribution to America 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
I not only got to meet the man but the couriers and the two brothers and Dave cologne in and this is a godly song it is a precious song and it will live forever
On the first verse of that song, Bill Gaither should have had all the Homecoming Friends who served in the military to go and stand next to Ivan as he sung that song.
In the late 70's i was a child visiting Florida with my parents from Newfoundland. We went looking for a church on Sunday morning but unable to find a Pentecostal church we went to a Baptist church. We were the only white folks there but being 8, i didn't notice...i just hoped the service would be short and i could go back to the pool ! It was the 4th of July weekend and a man got up and played the piano and sang this song...i have never forgotten it...it was the most beautiful thing i had ever heard...it formed how i felt about the United States...proud, kind, helpful, a world leader who stood up for the downtrodden...qualities Jesus asked his followers to live out in their lives every day...look at you today America...happy birthday to the most corrupt, morally bankrupt, self centered, uninclusive group of hypocrites on the face of God's earth! You traded your Christian principles to vote into office people who follow money as their god and will turn a blind eye to poor children trying to escape death in their own countries and lock them up in cages away from their families because you want judges who will try to take abortion rights way?!?!? You hypocrites! Your mega church, millionaire, private jet owning charlatans disgust me...how is that in any way spreading the love and forgiveness of Christ? You have lost your way america and that Lady in NY and the Christ who died for ALL, is weeping.
Has there ever been an accompaniment sound track to this song? If so and I forgot to look to find one I hate it and if there's never been one for me to look up, I hate that too! I tried recently to look one up on itunes and couldn't find one.
@@christinedaae7323 It’s not Emmy Rossum. I just looked up what she looked like when the entire music video was made. This video was made in 2002. Emmy would have been 16 which there are images out there of what she looks like.
I know! Actress Emmy Rossum is absolutely beautiful! They couldn’t have picked a better Christine Daae for the 2004 Film Adaptation of Sur Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway Musical, The Phantom of The Opera! Emmy truly embodies Christine Daae! Don’t you agree?
@@christinedaae7323 I wouldn’t know. I haven’t seen much of her stuff except for the for the 2 flops of movies in “The Day After Tomorrow” and “Dragonball: Evolution”.
Well, you have to watch The Phantom of The Opera (2004)! Oh! And you might recognize the Actor who played The Phantom, as well! He’s absolutely handsome!
Look to the center of the se[v]en days of creation and you will find the sun, look to the center of His✝️ory and you will find the ✝️ruth you will find the Sun of righteousness spoken of in malachi 4, Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God.
This isn't the tenor part. The tenors are barely heard, here. You know, if I wanted to hear the soprano part an octave lower, I'd have sought that. No offense. You're a great tenor. Singing the Soprano line. I want the tenor line.
Singing about the Statue of Liberty at a Gospel concert. 'The Cross is the Statue of Liberty...' (and the Statue of Liberty is the Cross?) Christian Nationalism indeed. smh

This song gives me patriotic chills about how America and Jesus relate to each other as it is well explained in this song! Well done!
Such a beautiful song, and no one sings like Ivan!
Amen ! God Bless you Ivan Parker ! Jesus Saves ! ❤️🙂🌟🌈🥰
tHANKS FOR THE RAINBOW ABOVE! I'M SURE IT'S THERE BECAUSE GOD MADE THE RAINBOW, NOT BECAUSE OF SATAN'S PERVERSIAN OF IT!
One of the most awesome songs sung.

USA citizens need to listen to this over and over again to remember what this great country is all about.
On the first verse of that song, Bill Gaither should have had all the Homecoming Friends who served in the military to go and stand next to Ivan as he sung that song.
I remember this sung by the Courier Quartet many years ago
Ivan Parker was born on December 21st 1957 in Sanford north Carolina.
JESUS CHRIST IS LORD !!!!
This singer is Ivan's "double. I wrote this song after visiting the statueof liberty with Howard &Vestal Goodman.
