    Lady you are a saint. I was told it would be $1300. I had paid 1400 already, to fix the main system but they wanted$1300 more for the rear blower fix. I said don't go further. I searched many videos about Acura mdx. This is the video I wanted. I really want to say thanks.

    Thank you! I took out our blower motor that was screaching and cleaned it and lubed it and now it works great! Mechanic said it would be a $1500 bill to replace a compressor that was making the noise when it was the blower the whole time.

    Lady,
    You should check the other side (maybe you did already).
    I open the other side of the console searching for another matter and for my surprise I saw de the mesh-filter of the rear ac motor completely clogged with dust, no wonder why these motors go bad, I cleaned it and now rear air flow is much better.
    Thank you for posting, great tutorial.

      TheLuismondo thanks. I did have both panels removed but no dust in mine. The motor was just old.

    • @1thess523
      @1thess523 6 років тому

      TheLuismondo yes mine was completely clogged and the rear air was almost none existent, a friend of my mine told me about his so i checked mine and vacuumed it and bingo it was like brand new but now i believe the motor ia going out because there are times where it squeals.

      The filter plug will not make the motor goes bad. When the filter plug the static pressure of the air system goes down this in turn will have a lighter load on the motor which mean the motor run on lower ampacity. The motor just goes bad. Thats it.

    Thanks for this video young lady. I looked everywhere for a video on how to replace the rear blower. I had already replaced the front unit and eventually I just decided to give it a go on the rear blower. Wish I had seen your video even though it became pretty obvious once I got in there. I understand that dealerships have a lot of overhead but the prices I was quoted were just unbelievable for the time involved.

    Thank you for posting this and for detailing the socket / screwdriver options I'd need to do this repair. It took a bit of searching to find this as there are lots of videos on how to replace the resistor, lots on different ways to change out the front blower, but hardly any for how to swap out the rear blower motor.
    I went to a wreckers this morning, pulled out the front and rear blower motors from a 2003 Pilot (pulled the resistor as well just in case) and put them in to my 2007 Pilot. For much less than the price of a new single blower, both of mine now run silent and push a ton more air.

    On the REAR blower motor make sure they are the exact same the replacement as the oem. I purchased a well running brand new one off Amazon for $50 and it’s about a 1/2 taller so the rear blower motor COVER doesn’t fit back over the new blower.
    Don’t think it’s an issue but if that’s bother some to all. I’d go OEM brand OR FourSeasons brand they are more expensive but are perfect fit.

    Can confirm this exact same replacement part works for a 2004 mdx. It is a much tighter fit when pulling the used motor in and out. There are just more bundles and wires, but it takes the same part, and the 3 screws holding the blower motor are in the same place. Use a star tip screwdriver in mdx, such as a Kobalt.

    thanks for posting this. I think I saw a Honda service procedure for this and they talked about removing the entire console. I have a 2005 my fan motor especially in the winter will sometimes make a loud screeching sound. One thing I heard was the duct could be filling with water and not draining causing it to freeze. I'll look for a drain hole. Being the cheap skate that I am I'll try to clean and lube my blower motor. It looks like this is a 30 minute job so its worth the gamble. thanks again

      I had a squeaky rear blower motor. It really screeched horribly when we braked. Was quoted $850 to replace. So I ordered a used part instead. When I removed the filter screen from the driver's side I noticed it wasn't screeching anymore. So I bent the screen outward a bit, replaced it, and it hasn't been acting up since. I have noticed condensation in my system as well. Definitely need to find how to get that drained.

      Jeff Justice what happened with yours? My 2005 does the same, screeches horribly when I brake. I’ve replaced the blower mower once, so that is working. I can also hear water gurgling around under the console now.

    My second cousin wants to send you flowers….. it took us five minutes. Garage thief told him $1400 to replace.
    Amazon $41 for motor and we replaced transistor to be safe as well $11
    He said it works better than when he first acquired the car.
    Send address for your flowers. ❤️

    Even 100 something is too much. Is it the same blower that's up under the glove box? Or is this a different size/part number then that one? I can't seem to find a blower motor that is specifically, "Rear". How did you know it wasn't just the transistor?

    • @brandywilson7341
      @brandywilson7341 6 років тому

      Great Googlymoogly, I tested the transistor before checking motor and also the fact I replaced that a year earlier. The rear is a different model number. I purchased mine from Advanced Auto Parts.

Thanks again.
