Thing is, when you let *everyone* in, you let in all the stuff the decent people are running from. They are literally defeating the altruistic angle of immigration by letting it be this sloppy and unchecked.

      And it continues.
People who come to the United States that wish to live here, but maintain their citizenship to original country are welcome to attain a visa, and live here legally without citizenship.
People who intend to become a US citizen are welcome to apply for and in their interest become American citizens.
That's the law as it applies to living in this country, it's not hard to understand that those are the laws.
Part of the purpose of those laws is to protect people - ALL people regardless of origin - from the possibility of people like the suspect doing them harm, or worse.
There's also the premise that non-visa, non citizen are somehow entitled to government aid, and so on.
Why, why would they be entitled - they're not citizens of this country, and haven't dedicated themselves by becoming citizens to the protection and benefit of this country -
      They need try that elsewhere

    • @HannahKayW

@@Motor-City-Mikethere’s different levels of non-citizens and many of them do deserve protections. My boyfriend is from India here on a visa, he applied for his green card in 2012 and is still waiting because of the backlog and restrictions. He’s in the meantime a diagnostic radiologist at a trauma center, helping save lives and paying taxes and behaving as a citizen in every facet by benefiting this society. He is not a citizen but he deserves protection in this country in my opinion. There’s many people like this.

It's an opinion nothing more. Not meant for offense or anything. There are many issues in this country and abroad and I'm not making one seem lesser than than any other. This poor girl was murked. Her family lost her and her future potential is gone because of one bad human. The fact that he didn't belong here is an issue. Had he not been here she might not have passed. The next problem will become the tax payer dollars that go to house him in prison. There's a ripple effect.
Criminals are criminals no matter where they come from. I hope that's something we can all agree on.

And I'll also go so far as to say that if the border issues weren't an issue he very likely wouldn't have been given the opportunity to come here and commit a crime. Sad to say he would've committed crimes in his country of origin. Doesn't make it better. It's just part of this nation is the premise that we are given the right to safety. And thats not happening right now.

Back in Jan 2021, my 79 yr old Aunt was tortured and murdered in her home of 50 yrs. A 19 yr old illegal alien with multiple abuse charges had been released to await a precious trial. While out on bail, he broke into my Aunts house while she was sleeping. It has been 3 yrs since my Aunts death, and we're still waiting for something to happen. The trial has been pushed multiple times due to this person who is illegally in California, claiming mental health issues.
The system is so broken and seems to prefer protecting illegal aliens in the country over their own citizens it's heartbreaking and so wrong.

Not only was Laken killed, countless others will probably die because of her death. Laken was a nursing student. Who knows where her career would have taken her? A floor nurse in a children’s hospital? An emergency room nurse? Further to become a physician’s assistant? A nurse in a long term care facility? Red Cross nurse? A medical professional who teaches others to save lives? Maybe ‘Doctors without Borders?
Everyone’s death has an impact on all of us. Laken’s was much too soon and it was avoidable.

I’m Venezuelan too, and you’re Right. In everything that you said… this broken my heart, because I come from a poor and humble family that I seek to make a step to improve my life and the lives of those I love… but all these people... who come from the same country where I come from. It fills me with sadness… They do not have the right to decide who lives or not. I hope that they fulfill their sentence and that God h the full weight of divine power falls on them….

I had a mentor struggle through a safety talk for young women yesterday, she spoke to us about how you can do so many things right and there will still be bad people. As a young women about to go to college, i fear being away from home, and my dad, who has always protected me. And i will do everything in my power to protect myself and those that i love from this. But its not always enough. We juat have to love and support regardless. Do your best. Its all you got

Same here in the UK. There are cases, even when the alleged culprit is on the run, even when there are eye witnesses when they apparently have no distinguishing features which might help the public identify them. It takes days or longer before the police and MSM grudgingly identify who they are looking for.

I've lived most of my life in El Paso, I work in a very ghetto part of the town where the majority of my customers don't speak english, and I have noticed an increase in customers from central and south America. These are people that I see quite a bit so between that and being the grandchild of immigrants I'm very close to the issue.
There are many immigrants that are super hard working, law abiding, grateful, and god fearing people. There are people providing to the community and doing what they can to eventually become citizens. Then there are those who are willing abusing these systems, taking advantage of people's kindness, and actively stealing from the community.
This is an extremely complex issue, a human issue that affects not only legal and illegal migrants, but also American citizens and entire communities. Do I believe that we need an immediate shut down of the border? I'm not sure. However, these people need to be held to a higher standard of the law if they are here illegally. Perhaps we need to dedicate more funding to dentention centers to allow for more deportation. I'm not entirely convinced he shouldn't have been in this country to begin with, but he absolutely should have been deported with his first arrest. That young woman's blood isn't only on his hands.

America, along with every other country, needs to focus on their own people before we can entertain the world in peace as a whole. Not only is this an immigration issue, but also a nys bail reform issue. My state is allowing violent criminals to be released without bail the day they are arrested. A man (in this case, a native citizen) recently attacked and strangled a woman in my community. Luckily, a witness intervened. He was seen committing the crime and arrested almost immediately, yet has been released back into the community. This is not a fluke. I am beyond infuriated by how my state is putting the freedoms of criminals above the lives of taxpaying citizens. Upstate ny is being held hostage to these failed policies by NYC voters.

Meanwhile my conservative 72y old aunt, that has a salary, a house, a family, a life and doesn’t want to live in the US, was denied a visa to go to Disney. Her, her great grand daughter (5y old) and her daughter in law. They didn’t give a motive btw. It’s ridiculous. The other members of the family were authorized, including the 6 y old sister of the little girl. What I understood is that murder and bad people are happily accepted, and people that want to spend their money and moviment your economy are not being accepted. Great country (insert irony)!

Just like that college student that killed three women and two men in their dorm. It’s frightening. Or like that American kid that went to Bermuda and killed and raped a young lady. It’s sad and needs to stop.

UGA is about 45 minutes from me, I attended UGA myself, and for the last few weeks (and for the next few) my teenage daughter has to be on UGA’s campus weekly for a school related thing. My husband and I decided that she’s too new of a driver to navigate Athens, being a college town, safely, so we’ve been taking her. Thank God for that. I know that ppl die, and it happens all around us, but it’s weird to know a young woman was murdered on the campus I know so well.
