      I enjoy diggings picks, axe heads and even shovels here from the California Gold Rush. Some of them are very collectible too! Certain stamps from blacksmiths and merchants. Thank you for the view and comment!

    Would have been terrific to see the nails and flat rusted sheet metal pieces swung over at the same time as the other bigger iron items. Appreciate the videos. On the fence to buy a Manticore. I have Legend with all the coils available and Minelab Equinox 800 with 3 coils. Trying to justify the Manticore. I am also in N. California. Close to Chico area. Got burned out of Paradise in the Camp fire. Have started over in a new place and been researching the oldest original spots. I am making some great finds on one location right now. Great fun for sure. Happy detecting!

      You will do just fine with the Legend and the EQ 800. Sorry to hear you we're a victim of the Camp Fire. So many friends that were as well and a friend of my cousin passed away in that fire while trying to find my cousin. Very sad. That's always a great strategy to try and find the earliest (oldest) sites. I read about your other finds in the comments of the other video. Terrific, must be exciting every time you go there. Thanks again for the view and comment!

    I'm having some trouble relic hunting with Manticore vs Nautilus (analog relic machine with all metal in one ear and a discrimination beep in the other--it is so awesome...no lag at all, hear everything instantly, and manual pinpoint target is right under the coil)--with Manticore I'm getting the target to the side of the pinpoint in AT General. Inches off. It's so much slower because I can't seem to find the center of the target. Finding much smaller things, deeper though, and some iron signatures more reliably. Does the D2 make for a good relic machine?--Notch out nails and go? Nox 900? I'm thinking maybe D2 doesn't have the "iron is way off to the side actually" issue...or does it? Thanks much

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  9 місяців тому

      I have never tried the Nautilus but that sounds like something I need to check out!!! The Deus II in iron is incredible (to say the least) but there is no way to split audio sends to the stereo image like you describe. As far as your Manticore goes . . . The 11" coil is a double D design, which means one half of the coil is the transmit coil and the other is the receive coil. By the very nature of the way they are aligned results in the active detection field being a pretty narrow strip right up the center of the coil extending from the back edge to the front edge. If you coil is not pinpointing in the center and is "Inches off", that is very unusual and hard for me to wrap my head around. I think you should contact your dealer and see if they can test your machine with a different coil, perhaps you have an issue with your coil not working properly, although I can't even imagine and type of internal issue that could result in that! Do you have a buddy that has a Manticore as well? If so, you should try their coil to see what happens. Thank you for the view and comment/questions!

    hello,garrett apex or manticor for iron delete?

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  8 місяців тому

      For sure the Manticore is far better in many ways including discrimination of iron but it also costs 3 times the price! Thanks for the view and comment!

    Is this program good to detect aluminum as trash too?

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  4 місяці тому

      Yikes that's a tough question to answer 🤔 so aluminum on all detectors is a tough signal to eliminate as aluminum is a good conductor of electricity. Therefore when a metal detector coil swings over aluminum the transmission excites particles inside the aluminum that is then read by the receiver of the detector circuit and it is very hard for even modern metal detectors to differentiate aluminum from any other high conductors such as copper or silver. So if you were to try to discriminate out aluminum you take a chance on missing High conductors like coins. Also aluminum foil is the opposite aluminum foil comes in the same exact areas as gold rings gold nuggets and small gold jewelry so if you attempt to eliminate aluminum foil you take a chance on missing out on all of this gold items. Unfortunately aluminum is just something we have to deal with in this Hobby. If you're lucky and you swing over a piece of shredded aluminum can you might be able to avoid it just because the sound is so unusual and harsh due to the unusual shape of the object or you might get an overload on a whole aluminum can that's buried but again in this hobby we all have to deal with aluminum as a necessary evil. Thank you for watching the video and for your great question!

    Question, couldn't you just set the Manticore to All Metal and get the same results?

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  11 місяців тому

      Yes but your going to end up with a bit more ear fatigue and perhaps dig more trash, especially in the low mid range, thin flat iron, food cans, etc. But fun fact, when I detect for relics with the Manticore and especially the CTX-3030 I run them wide open.

    Program should allow you to name custom patterns

      And have multiple discrimination profiles!--not just multiple ferrous limits profiles.
