Two legendary men right there. Teamed up to wildcat a cartridge to get SAMMI . With Hornady backing the production line. Thats a infrastructure win win in my book. Great podcast. Ive been looking forward to hearing this one day. Thank you Seth!!
Awesome episode. Fantastic news! I am standing by for the Goldilocks 25 GT or Creedmoor or PRC. When 6mm is too light and 6.5mm is too heavy. Why, my very first hunting rifle (back in the early 1980's) was a Win M70 in 25-06 and I still have it. Still favored by many for Western NE Antilope as well as Mule and Whitetail deer, the shock usually folds them like a $3 tent.
I would love a “brass life” video. Where you guys discuss factors that increase and decrease how to maximize the number of reloads you can get. Also if there are cartridges that lend themselves to better or worse brass life. Thanks.
Took out my 6GT for the first time yesterday. Testing 3 different bullets (Hybrids, ELDMs, and Atips) all rang steel out to 900. Dialing this thing in is going to be fun.
To Podcast Mods: most of us will get a box of ammo from multiple companies seeking an accurate load. You could virtually guarantee hunters settle on a Hornady cartridge if you offer a "Sampler Box" to hunters for popular cartridges. Example: 6.5CM 5 rounds each. Precision Hunter, Superperformance, American Whitetail, a CX load.
I built a 6 GT a couple months ago and look forward to starting load development after deer season is over. I threw a “middle of the road” load together with H4350 and Berger 109s just to put a few rounds through it, and I’m already pretty impressed with it.
Been thinking about going with a 6GT for some time now for both precision target and varmint hunting. Seems like it would be a good fit to go between my 6.5 Grendel ARs and my 6.5 Creedmoor bolt guns. Additional commercial support is definitely a positive factor
Great podcast. These are the guys that “get it done”. I’m fighting my desire to build a 25gt. Always liked the 25 cal. Already have a 25 creedmoor and 25 prc. Just fun to experiment and the characteristics of different cartridges.
When I go out to the range, my son gets a little discouraged with his 22lr watching his dad reach out and touch things far away with a 6.5PRC... I had been considering a 6.5 Creedmoor for him, but maybe 6 GT would be a good "trainer" transition for hunting. A smaller step up in recoil and a big step up in confidence.
Check out 6arc as well. It’s 1k capable, not as spicy as 6.5cm, and can be better in wind. Only thing is that you won’t be able to reuse all of your components that you use for prc
Built a lightweight 6GT hunting rifle on a Lone Peak Arms Razor-Ti with a 22inch 1 in 7.75 twist Benchmark barrel. Set in a Kroseg Remington Hunter carbon fiber stock. Rounded out with some Hawkins Precision bottom metal and Trigger Tech Primary trigger. Have 103 ELD-X infront of 37.6 grains of H4350 running 2880 fps. Was hoping to baptise it during spring bear season... but the mule deer out here will be heating up soon.
If I only have one gun for everything. In 1990, I bought a 25-06. If I were buying one gun today. It would be 6.5 creed, for barrel life. If I could have multiple guns, but only one caliber, as mentioned. Then, the 6.5 PRC is probably the smart choice. 18" suppressed.
I've been loading 6 arc for my 20" prs gasser but plan to jump up to the 6gt when I get a bolt gun. Until then I've been on the hunt for the right bullet. I was looking at the 105gr berger hybrid or the new aeromatch but would the 103gr vapor trail be a better candidate?
All depends on where you’re buying it from. I buy my local and they always have a sale every hunting season and take $40 ofd= 360$for 8lb.varget no shipping no other shipping hazard fees just go and pick it up….. I don’t know anybody that wants to buy four or five jugs of it. That’s a lot of money usually 8 pounds or less someone in a long time.
I’ve got a pair of GAP built gay tigers. Shot a stud mule deer this year with my 22” lightweight rifle using a 110 a-tip/varget @2850. Haven’t encountered a feeding issue with either rifle.
@@MetalZoned Could you give a few examples of some of the best rifles, regardless of their price(the highend of all rifles) that are chambered in 6 gt to even 6.5 Creedmor
Indiana is a straight wall cartridge state like us in ohio but I'm pretty sure you can use a 24 cal on private land in your state you'll have to look it up
Model 94 is an outstanding platform fordeer and hog in close cover. 180-200gr bullets in .32 Win Sp will do for everything in the lower 48@@PwntifexMaximus
Dasher=51,000 vrs 6gt 60,000 psi pressure .. why this wasn’t brought up during the Conversation I don’t know I don’t know why the Dasher runs on 50,000 psi and why can’t it go higher?
25:57 The GT NEVER was reliable out of the 4 different magazines I tried. BR and Dasher worked flawlessly out of magazine EVERY round with no magazine tune or modifications
Shout out to Tom, in my 6GT those 103 Vapors got me a 600 score with 39x’s last month in 600 F Open!! 👍
Nice work!

Well said!

GREAT show. George builds GREAT rifles and has worked with Hornady for many years.

Been a user in 243 for a long time.
Lately 260 Rem and AI.
Great video. Thanks

I have a 25-06 heavy barrel that I love but that 25 creed has got me wanting to build one

I agree with 6 arc
I built two 6GTs for my varmint guns this year ! Please come out with factory ELD VT ammo for this 😎

lol, these are the super nerds of the competitive shooting world. Glad it overflowed to hunting.
Let's get after it!
6GT is my next rifle
I was hoping for a 6mm prc as a 6 mm magnum hunting round from Hornady
If your doing t-shirts, I want the "Slow Motion Potion" one.
Who made Tom put the jacket on to cover his shirt? Let it fly!

Varget - if you can find it - where i see is 75 bucks per 1 pound. that is way to much and really puts a stomping on us reloaders

Im running the 22 GT 16" Shotting the 62gr eld vt at 3k
Finally!!!
I am a total newbie to guns and cartridges, so if I want to use a 6gt cartridge, do I havebto get a custom made barrel for my gun?
No, there are factory offerings now chambered in it
@@MetalZoned Could you give a few examples of some of the best rifles, regardless of their price(the highend of all rifles) that are chambered in 6 gt to even 6.5 Creedmor
I bought a bergara 6 GT that sucker just hammers n550/109 Berger
Please stock the stores with it now
What's the best barrel twist rate for a 6 GT?
7.5 is a great option
What I'd like to know is will Hornady offer 6GT ammo with the 103 vtac.
Will the 6mm GT be published in the hornady reloading app soon?
I hope so. Just ordered everything for a custom 6mm GT build, bottom metal and up, lol.
Only thing is I don't think this is deer legal in Indiana but otherwise it seems a solid choice
Indiana is a straight wall cartridge state like us in ohio but I'm pretty sure you can use a 24 cal on private land in your state you'll have to look it up
SSSOOO the GT or the 6 ARC is the question, or the 6 creedmore or 6 dasher or all the other 6's
New cartridges are great. And I know the gt isn’t brand new but please make ammo for these older guns.
Assuming this is a new "family" of cartridges, should we expect the 22GT in 2-3 years?
My do-all target gun is getting rebarrelled to 6GT from .308
The 22GT is what I hoped the 22 Creedmoor would be. Hoping to see that in factory ammo too.
I'm distracted by the scab on Seth's arm.
Please make more 32 Winchester Special. You ammo is the best , I have 3 Winchester 32wsp
...But why?

23:52 We all know what the real name is for the 6 GT
😂
