Am I the only one who thinks her being voted guilty is driving her further into the cult mentality, like I don’t get the vibe that she fits the cult’s ideals and is falling into the cult mentality as a coping/defense mechanism. Like her brain can’t accept she’s guilty so she’s looking to anything to tell her she’s not, and since the audience isn’t forgiving her but the cult is she’s putting all her faith in that.
Thing is, she punished this person based on the cultists' ideals. At least, that's how she rationalized it. So, I wonder if voting her innocent at this point would lead to validating their teachings.

I don’t think she was toning it down in the first, but is looking for anything to cope with the guilt of killing someone. I don’t think there’s anyway to distance her from the cult beliefs through guilty verdicts. She’s 12, she just wants to be accepted by people… and she was shunned by the audience so there’s nowhere else to turn to besides doubling down on the cult.

Well in real life when you just straight up call out how wrong someone is whether it's religion, politics, or other things they believe in it will most likely cause the person to double down cause it's a part of their ego or maybe all of it. The harsher you are the more likely they're not going to let it go. You got to meet them halfway if you want a shot at changing their mind and most importantly listen and give them some respect even if you think they are wrong. And even then, don't expect instant conversion it's going to take time to undo everything and start over if they even want that. That being said I think all Amane wants is to be shown mercy/forgiveness just once in her life. It seems like her faith only just punishes her if she commits a sin. Milgram was probably the first time she heard of something that offers forgiveness for sins and she really wants that. That's probably why she was so excited in the first trial. Hopeful she can get the forgiveness she's after...and lots of therapy. Just give everyone therapy.
