If it wasn't fake, there would be some kind of diagnostic before completely disassembling the bass. Maybe it was done, but it's NEVER in her videos. Also: never any playing before or after. 07:54 Not her shop, not her tools, ... a real craftsperson wouldn't care about having nail varnish, let alone care about having it match her clothing...
@zjokka well when is said it "wasnt fake" i was referring to the current phenomena in the restoration video world where they purposely distress or damage the stuff and then make a video of them restoring it. I dont think this luthier purposely made this bass look like a junker.....it was a junker and she showed herself restoring it......where is it fake?
Thank you for sharing your repair process. I especially appreciate how you didn't turn it into a brand new bass, but brought it back to top playing shape while still showing some character from its earlier life.
I have a 1974 Ibanez P bass just like this bu mine is in fantastic condition. I paid $500 for it a few years ago and it’s definitely gone up in value. It came in a vintage Fender case that has some value as well.
HI Tanya I made sure and watched this entire video as I wouldn't want your puppy to be upset with me...oh and besides that I love to watch the transformations you make to these instruments...I think you're awesome!
A true professional craftsman (woman) at work. The attention to detail is exemplary. We need less A.I. and more of THIS! Congratulations on such beautiful work. We are all learning a thing or two by watching this.
Watching you work is like working in my yard very therapeutic and relaxing, thank you🤪🤘 ps, you definitely know what your doing and your nails are looking good girl🤘🌞😘
This old man that has been doing this type of work for a number of years. All I can say is that I am very very impressed with the work that you do. You go girl !
As always fantastic work . Crazy how they left the end of the fretboard undone . Yet you finished it like it should be . I’m ever impressed by your mastery of work !
For me the reason to watch your videos in entire length is the sensitivity you work with (without talking). It has kind of a contemplative quality, thanks.
Beautiful dog, beautiful manicure, and in the end, after a lot of skilled work ... beautiful bass guitar! Well done - I hope you're all safe still over there.
From one luthier to another I like that you preserved the original finish with all its wear and history. Nice attention to detail too, especially the unseen areas. Cheers from Euroa Guitars Australia
This is the third video of yours I have watched and all I can say is WOW you do awesome restoration work. I see the love you put into each instrument you restore. New subscriber too.
Wonderful restoration, and repair! I was very impressed with the clean-up of the headstock (that is usually overlooked). You prove on every episode that there is noting better than a sharp chisel. Thanks to you, that bass now has a second chance at life. You made it structurally strong at its weak points, and shiny at its dull points. Well done! Enjoy your weekend.
I had mentioned her to him on one of his videos, but I don't know if he already knew about her, or he looked at her videos after I mentioned it. Either way, I really dig these communities of craftspeople, and seeing my favorite youtubers mention each other, comment on one another's pages, and even collaborate on projects and friendly competition.
Excellent improvements to a worthy instrument. Your skills are being honed and perfected right before our eyes. May you enjoy good health, much happiness and a long successful and sustained career. Kudos 👍🏼⭐️👍🏼
You are simply the best, Tanya! I love watching you work and I look forward to the videos. Your nails in this video are by far my favorite so far, and they even match your shirt
I can't believe the excellent work you have done. You really are a genius. The only thing I suggest is that you spend at least 1 minute at the end to test the instrument. I congratulate you and greet you from Buenos Aires
As always it’s been great having coffee with Tanya doing her magic, from your #1 Canadian fans, Paul and kitty Rodie (meow!) also nice to meet your puppy Tilda, be well, waiting in anticipation for the next amazing video, Ciao!
Awesome job! I love old Japanese stuff like that. I can't believe the end of the neck- so weird that was cut down, obviously original since the body was untouched in that area. You should really do a sound demo of the finished project 😃
As always, great job. I have played for over 50 years and am constantly learning new tricks/techniques watching your videos. Keep up the great content. One minor suggestion if possible. At the end, show before and after pics. Cheers!
you are simply amazing! You are my absolute favorite Luthier on UA-cam, I have so much respect for your craft. I would love to see you explain what products and paper grits and solutions you are using.
i love repairing guitars, i live in Finland and i buy cheap or broken guitars from secondhand online market place, i repair them from zero to hero...and i give as a gift especially to the kids as a gift :)
Using that glue boost trick is really smart! I've seen Scott over at Harpeth Guitars do that on some really tricky finishes. It works really well! Lovely work, Tanya! Always!!
This is not only splendid art of work, it’s also great entertaining!! Not only a chair to sit on, it’s instruments that also have to sound good with marginals!Regards to You and your dog!!Thanks Tanya!! Peters Övik Sweden
As a woodworker/restorer AND bass player myself, this is just immeasurably satisfying - thank you so much! Beautiful job on a cool old bass. I'd love to have you restore my old '61 Hofner EB-1 that I just gave to my daughter!
The bass came back to life reliced organically its by aging, use, and the way the elements acted upon it. A skilled luthier and restorer is like a neurosurgeon and this was in the best hands to make it more valuable than new.
i saw Ted Woodford's shout out commented below. That is high praise. I don't compare, or critique, am just a player for 60+yrs. My student '70's Peavey Foundation is a thing of beauty. I would trust you with it's care anytime. That says it all. You are there. An old musician's trust who's past 70 won't buy you a cup of coffee, but it's still worth a lot. Great Work!!! Ohhh! Cute Puppy!
I was expecting a family of mice to be living in the control cavity when you removed the pickguard. That bass was a disaster and you can barely recognize it as the same instrument after your restoration. Great job!
Best bass I ever owned was a cheap Ibanez PBass. It had an impossibly playable neck, and sat beautifully. I did change out the pups and electronics but it sounded gorgeous even before I did that.
@@TanyaShpachuk No, thank you Tanya, for all your videos. For me, there are two outstanding guitar repairers on You Tube and they are Ted Woodford @twoodfrd from Canada and yourself
Awesome job, a couple more decades for that bass. And for those wondering, the frets weren't that worn. More likely low profile frets (cf fretless wonder). Also, don't forget to wear a mask when sanding bone.
The cost of the repairs probably exceeded the price of the instrument - but you can't put a price on sentimental value. Somebody loved that bass for a long, long time, and would rather have spent the money to bring their baby back from the closet instead of trashing it and buying a new one. Nicely done. ❤
Good craftsmanship and no talking . Finally a restoraion video that's not fake....i loved this
You think that’s good? Go check out that acoustic she did with half a neck 😓😳 never seen anything like it hahaha
@@schmechel6888 That's a good video
This, but also: how does she keep those nails intact and never scratch her nail polish? That shows how precise she is in her work :D

My thoughts exactly 😀
As opposed to “I restored this bass” and they swap the whole neck 😂
Love that old Ibanez logo
Me too!

I watched this after mowing my yard! And I agree on the nails. Liking that green.
It does my heart good to see a fine but neglected instrument given the care and attention it deserves ! Thank you for your hard work.
The more I watch you work the more it all makes sense. You do some of the best refretting I've ever seen.

I LOVE watching these videos! I should be working on the dozen broken guitars I have, but Ms Shpachuk is WAY better at this than I am…

Very nice work as usual. You must have been born to do this to be so skilled at such a young age. Keep up the good work!!
This was actually insane. Never would have expected the end result.
Love that you kept the patina, I prefer that!
What a remarkable save! Wonderful work.
Tanya, I could watch you for hours. It's a pleasure to watch you work.
I can't begin to imagine how many stories that old bass could tell.

Great job as usual, and extra nice to see my favourite shade of green on your nails 💚😄
I love watching you work. You are very skilled.
Excellent work.. you keep your tools very sharp... the dowel jig was very smart !! Subscribed !!
Nice work. I have an older version of the Ibanez J-Style bass @ 69-71. Been using it for 50 years. Replaced one volume pot in 2019. 🙂

Great work! I kinda wanted to see the bass played at the end :)
So cool! Loved the clear sander square in the neck groove. 5:44
Your skills are amazing! Thank you for rescuing another instrument.
Thank you
Amazing work! I did not know you could renew old screw holes with wooden pegs. That trick will come in handy :)
Amazing work as always! Cheers from the states, y’all stay safe. 👏🫡
Thank you 🙏🏻
Another excellent job! I like what you did with the neck heel. Very cool.
Well that was therapeutic to watch. Great craftsmanship!
Great footage! Keep em coming! Maybe you can make one where you show your set-up process...?
I learn so much technique from you. Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship.
You always do a fantastic job of bringing these guitars back to life. It's also fun to see what you've done with your nails.
I blinked and the 31 min video was done. It felt like a 10min video. Good job.
You do wonderful work, it was refreshing to watch you bring this Bass back to life.
I wish you were my guitar tech.
Great job as usual! Love the way you varnished the neck!
I would love to hear your rehabilitated instruments played- the true test of a successful repair!
