      But, when trying to do this sound, does one try to say an L or does one try to say a D? Because one can do both and the sounds are a bit different...

    Difference is freaking small, it's impossible on Duolingo! Coming from a Dutch person which is quite similar language 😅

    This is a great video! I don’t think I will ever be able to say this sound… it is so utterly bizarre for those of us with only one tongue.

  • @FrenchinPlainSight
    @FrenchinPlainSight Рік тому

    Mange tak! I'm just getting into danish because I love how it sounds but I must say that pronouncing the sounds English doesn't have is really intimidating. I couldn't get my tongue to go to my bottom teeth for the soft D!
    I usually pick up pronunciation really easily compared to the average learner but Danish will still be hard work I think :D.
    That's why it'll be all the more satisfying when I get it!

    I'm confused by what is happening with the soft D vs the soft DD. The soft D in 'Mad' sounds very different from the 'Sidde' and 'Hedde'...and although the single D is demonstrated here and I find it easy, I have no idea what my mouth should be doing to create the DD sound.

  • @Valerie-ii5zo
    @Valerie-ii5zo Рік тому

    I was wonder about the difference of pronunciation of med and mad. Cause when I let google pronounce it the d of med is gone and is not being substituted with the l sound you are talking about, but with mad this does happen

    Soft D never sounds anything close to an L!

    Hi there If it is possible for you to answer I’d like to ask you that ( what does The hard D sounds like
    1 example - ‘Du’ in danish is it Tu sound or Du
    2 Example - Det in danish does it sound De or te in English
    I might not type it right or accurate but if you could just help like does the D sound in danish is T or it’s just D
