    Instead of making the fenders look like you cut a circle in half and used them you should make them how you make your bumpers if that makes sense like have angles to give it a rugged look kind of like a soccer ball pattern if that makes sense but different to where it looks good. Make the fenders come out of the bed so it looks clean and well shaped

    I'd put those uprights more outward so they're directly behind passengers heads. The way it looks now you'll have a big blind spot looking back over a shoulder and the rear view.

    Thanks for posting it's good to see how you did the inner structure.. building an 8footer for a 98 Chev soon. Want to do something with skinned sides and maybe a couple boxes.

    For the Bed liner, use a stainless steel wire cup to take it off

    Referring to the video at 4:24 minutes
    I would put a sheet of diamond plate over that rear bed bumper. It would save you a lot of time!

    What is the reason you use angle for the crossmembers? Is it so it sheds water/salt? Your decks are bad ass

    Hi, I realise this is and old video a d you have probably already found a solution to the rear too plate issue.
    I just thought, why not box in the rear section and hinge the top plate to create a storage locker.
    You could probably fit a high lift farm jack in it.
    I really have enjoyed watching your videos whilst I've been socially distancing here in the UK.

    As always great job. Just a thought about the rear part you are redesigning maybe make it a box for chains/straps or a jack. Might be more work tho

    I was wondering why you arc weld the beds? Personally I prefer arc over mig due to the cost of a mig that will weld heavy steel compared to an arc welder that will and I find you get way better penetration with arc. I don’t do production stuff so it’s not a big for me but I must imagine the hard restarts on 7018 rods must add a lot of time.

    How much for that bed for a 2012 quad cab srw short bed . No paint, wood or lights. Just the metal with that rear section but the steel not welded in on the back top. I'm thinking of hinging it and boxing the under side and making it a deck box ?

    Have you ever thought about a deck with an integrated roof rack ?

    • @Cumminslife
      @Cumminslife  6 років тому +3

      Yeah but I'm not a fan of the whole idea. You need to account for flex in the frame and leave a large gap between roof and rack to prevent clearance issues. But that works out to be 6"+ of gap and looks horrible.
      If you want a roof rack just get a roof rack. Joining it to the deck is a horrible idea for anything other than a mall crawler.
