- The Tech Session has finally arrived..
What a brilliant afternoon it was with so many good friends coming over for a really enjoyable time and.. we did it! We finally removed the swing arm and spindle.
In this video:
brilliant bikes arriving
removed the "welch" cap by drilling a hole, tapping and then drawing it out using a puller
removed the spindle - much easier that I expected
removed the swing arm!
removed beer from the cooler and drank them!

Hello Oregon - Greetings from Germany! In 2016 I cycled the coast from Vancouver through Washington and Oregon to San Francisco. I hope to be able to do this one day with a Norton Commando! Great machines - I also like the Guzzi T 3 very much! Greetings Klaus from rocktheroads.de
Much of from CANADA!
These are such beautiful people and bikes.😀
Great bikes. Loved the Norton at the end there (you know.... the only one that started on the second kick 🦵) 🤭 loved hearing them all start! Thanks

@@TheMightyGarage we friends live our life in this videos Mike, these videos are more than videos to us.
I went to a gathering like this at a friends house. Bikes parked, no engines running... BOOM! cops show up. You must live in a cool neighborhood.
El Rayo X hehe. Yes it's very sedate and we don't look too dangerous. Maybe the "Hells Grandads"! ;)
I'm 60+. Cops were cool. One said "Hey, you guys aren't doing anything. Let's just have a short convo so the caller is happy." You guys look to be a good group.
El Rayo X ha. We try hard to look 'bad ass' but don't pull it off very well ;). One look at us and everyone including small children smiles and says "aw, what a nice group" of chaps with their old bikes ;)
Ha! That's great. I enjoy the tone of your videos and I suspect it reflects on your group as well.
Damn that white Norton looked great.
James Townsey Hi James. Yes it's awesome. It's actually silver but looks white on camera. Here it is again. ua-cam.com/video/UsH2ZDP--7w/v-deo.html
Mi Ty I'm talking about the one at 8:25 with the steering dampener
James Townsey oh, sorry. Yes, it is fantastic. That is a multiple show-winning bike. Restored by the owner with a long range interpol gas tank that he modified and also made that amazing tail section. It has done 25,000 miles since the rebuild.
I notice the guy leaving in red Norton had left side shifter and hit down on first gear. So are left side shifter 75's one down 3 up like most bikes?
Yes, exactly - at 9:03. The Commando MK3 / MKIII models that came out in 1975 had the gear & rear brake shifted over, due to US regulation Cheers, Mike
i gotta move to oregon
The second last Black Norton to leave definitely had a cracked, broke U rear frame section. They are renowned to fracture just after rear shock braced frame section.
Thanks Sid Knee, can you send me the time in the movie so that I can pinpoint the bike and let the owner know? Do you mean the one at 10:23?
+Mi Ty That's the one. My 850 mk2 rear frame broke off and I decided to leave it off as I stream lined the look of the bike using smaller tail light. I made a hugger guard that is bolted to the swingarm in front of the rear tyre so did not need the stock rear mud guard. Had the seat made into a solo. The swingarm fix you blokes did was worth an optic. Cheers
Thanks Sid Knee, I've sent my friend an email.
Thanks for the warning. My friend checked out the movie and the bike does seem to be moving in an unusual way. He let me know that his bike has the gusset fitted. He gave the bike a pretty good inspection and could find no evidence of cracks or weakness.
Thanks again!
Nice thats good news ride safe
I'm trying to find a set of aluminum triple trees for the Commando I'm now building, any suggestions?
Hi there, I don’t know of anyone in the club who has installed an alloy triple tree but here are a few ideas from a quick search on the interwebs ;)
Amazing but VERY expensive
coloradonortonworks.com/?s=triple+tree&post_type=part
Standard (not Alloy) from Andover Norton
andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/16747
Unity Equipe may have something. Here’s their catalog and there are some yokes (triple trees on page 47)

@8:25 ♥
Hehe, that's a fantastic bike isn't it Ed. It's a true show winner and George rides it hard. It has done 25,000 miles and still looks perfect!
Norton are my bikes.
Keanu Charles Reeves.
Sexy.😀🙏😀
