OK this one hits close to home. My status at work on Slack is "Romulan ale, Captain! Let's get to work!" - decorated with a customized valdore emoji. 😻😹
If they D survived generations it likely would have got the Venture refit adding more phaser strips and quantum torpedos, and likely would have gotten ablative hull armor as well in the dominion war. Once the sov's started to roll out the D probably would have gotten a new more powerful warpcore and shields. Would she be better than the E in nemesis hard to say but they would have been a lot closer together.
I have to say that the Valdore really proved itself. The Enterprise D won its round, but seemed to really have to struggle; more so than the Valdore had to. The Valdore might be very skinny 'greyhound' ship next to the monstrous D'deridex, but it's lean and mean, more technically advanced, more offensively savvy and ton for ton, a better return on the investment. Having said that, I still like the D'deridex, there's no reason it couldn't be updated and better armed. It would still make for an impressive centerpiece of any fleet. But the Valdore clearly shines as a cruiser! It's sobering to think of the Galaxy class being placed in this 'obsolete' condition so quickly!
The Romulans finally figured out that it isn't wise to leave most of your ship without strong firing arcs. The Dominion War taught them that ambush tactics cannot be the sole design consideration. The Valdore type is a step in the right direction from the D'Deridex even if it is a tad more fragile.
I would like to think that Picard and Crew would still be on the E-D if she had survived the events of Generations. Maybe have ablative hull armor added as well as quantum torpedoes. Maybe even have added some torpedo launchers to the saucer section. I wonder if the Enterprise-D would have won against the Scimitar (with the upgrades) and Data not sacrifice himself in order to save the others. Edit: A little behind the scenes tidbit. There was a photo that had gotten out and they were ORIGINALLY going to have the Enterprise-E a Galaxy class. There was a shot of some of the people from Trek looking at the Enterprise-D filming model and instead of having it -D on the top saucer there was a -E. However, I think they wanted to finish off the E-D and have a brand new Enterprise for First Contact. Even though the E-D was shown in the trailer for First Contact. Geordi: Captain, she's packing quite a wallop! Shields weakening!
As far as I know the Galaxy Class model was too big and clunky to handle, and the movie makers really hated it. Especially the mounting points were a huge issue, given how many high detailed beauty shots they had to make for the movie. So, when Generations got aproved, they immediately wanted to get rid of the "D". The saucer section crash landing was a scene that Michael Okuda had envisioned very early (it is described in his book - the technical manual of the U.S.S. Enterprise).
You made Commander Tomalak very proud today! The Romulan Senate is having a pizza party in celebration of this UFP defeat!! Romulan ale for everybody!!! 😆
i just love the sound of those Disruptors. they sound like BIG HITTERS! how about 3 d'dex vs Dominion Battleship? also we have not seen any BoP battles yet so how about a BOP swarm vs a big ship?
The Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual also suggests that the Galaxy-class was fitted with an ablative hull layer, with "the outermost hull layer...composed of a 1.6 cm sheet of AGP ablative ceramic fabric chemically bonded onto a substrate of 0.15 cm tritanium foil. This material is formed into segments of approximately 3.7 m2 and is attached to the radiation attenuation layer by a series of duranium fasteners, which allows individual segments to be replaced as necessary.
I still love the Enterprise D. I wish they hadn’t destroyed her in Generations. If she had survived, I imagine they would have upgraded her tactical systems and maybe have installed ablative armor on the hull like the E. Would have liked to have seen the D with quantum torpedoes and the phaser cannon on the bottom of the saucer section.
How can I get this to run I have the gog stbc and I install the remastered but as soon as I change the screen size to match the original install it dont like it any ideas?
@@RetroBadgerGaming I'm a Star Trek fan, but I was always disappointed that in Generations the Enterprise D was taken out by a Bird of Prey. I always thought it should have been a Vor'cha.
So... why did you wait until take major damage to the shields before upping the power to them and didn't up the power on the weapons on the galaxy? Upped the weapons power right at the start when you switched...if comparing how the ships will do against each other why not keep the power levels the same on both for the fight?
So funny to hear all the comments about the Galaxy class and its age or it being weak. Like it does not cross their minds as if Starfleet would undoubtedly not be constantly upgrading all their classes to keep them at the very latest level of technology. Only way IMHO that this battle would go like this is if a Galaxy class was somehow transported 25 years into the future through some time rift and faced a enemy threat with its 26 year old systems. Most likely any Galaxy class to face a Valdore in this time period would have highly upgraded systems across the board. I would think in fact that a Federation capital ship like a Galaxy class from this time period would likly have ablative hull armor, quantum torpedoes, redundant & regenerative shields, upgraded power, weapon and sensor systems. Also many classes across the board would be periodically retrofitted with any additional newly developed systems that could be incorporated into the various classes and designs such as slipstream drives, holographic crews, thoron shielding and binaural circuitry to name a few. Starfleet of the late 24th and 25th century and the Federation in particular was a very advanced hyper power not just in the quadrant but in the Galaxy as a whole and had the resources and infrastructure to keep a massive highly advanced, powerful fleet retrofitted and well maintained. This would apply to any class or ship kept in service and not decommissioned or mothballed. This is how it is explained in the books anyway and is a perfect analog to the way modern warships are kept in service today. In fact in the novels the Federation is the most advanced power in the alpha, beta & delta quadrants say for a few examples like the Caeliar that are mostly isolationist or evolved to some ascended existence like the Q. The novels portray the Federation by the 25th century as one of the largest civilizations in the Milky Way in both territory and technological prowess. The Federation with a population nearing a trillion with territory spanning well over 8000 light years with hundreds of member states, controlling and laying claim to many tens of thousands of star systems. The Federation has even perfected quantum slip stream travel and is sending fleets back to the Delta quadrant establishing beachheads, bases and adding new members there. The novels reveal that Starfleet tech & abilities easily exceeds the Dominion and is even now a match for the Voth to give you some idea of the level they have advanced. So if we are speaking of the federation during this period you can bet all classes in the entire fleet are exceedingly well maintained, constantly upgraded and packed with new tech as it becomes available. Of coarse this is all fantasy but this is my take from reading the books.
The Enterprise D wouldn't have been destroyed if Dr Crusher checked Geodi's Visior. If anyone found that out Crusher, Riker and Worf would have been in big trouble.
Can we also talk about how Riker didn't 1) order shield frequency rotation and 2) didn't simply command Worf to destroy the bird of prey? The Enterprise had more than enough firepower to wipe that ship out rather easily, in my opinion.
The thing that get me is that isn't ship class that just it name it actually mogai warbird ValDore class is 25st century ship I own both and refit mogai
If the Galaxy Class D hadn't been destroyed in Generations, by the time we get to Nemesis, she wouldn't have had the Dominion War refit and armed with Quantum Torpedoes 😁

I completely agree. The Dderidex is my all-time favorite Star Trek ship.

On Star trek armada 2, this ships where first available to build with advance shipyard, they where like on same tier level.
Well, on that game they had the Defiant and the Brel on the same tier too, which is absurd.
That is a great model of the Galaxy
I'm surprised by that, she looked like she was kicking you ass!
It would be great to see the Enterprise E with shields down versus 1 Ambassador class with shields.
You made Commander Tomalak very proud today! The Romulan Senate is having a pizza party in celebration of this UFP defeat!! Romulan ale for everybody!!! 😆
Think I’ll take Picard with me. (For Protection).

How about the Galaxy x from all good things vs the Scimitar.
You should try to do a whole battle in the cinematics mode. Maybe the NX vs a few Xindi or the Refit vs a BOP
Cool battle. Love the scenario🤘 imagine if the D wasn't destroyed and had upgrades like ablative armour and quantum torpedoes 🖖

Generations should have been versus Tomalok in a D'Derridex warbird. THAT would have been an EPIC show down!
With three warp nacelles and a cloaking device.
No doubt the Enterprise D would have gotten a quantum torpedo launcher after the Dominion arrived.
How can I get this to run I have the gog stbc and I install the remastered but as soon as I change the screen size to match the original install it dont like it any ideas?
To be fair a realistic battle. The Romulans often always fight in pairs. So it would have been likely 2v1.
Agreed, one cloaking to get better positioned while other fires
Woooo! My request!

Thanks for subscribing! Don’t think I have done a Vorcha vs galaxy class. I will do one soon!

Up it x2 everything
Obviously the senior staff went on holiday and left Wesley in charge.
Fore and aft torpedo launchers are a mistake. They should be top and bottom and the torpedoes should be able to orient themself to hit any enemy.
how would the venture galaxy do ?
I'd expect the Valdore was built for the Enterprise E.
Valdor vs d'derix?
The ENT D as a dominion war refit would have eaten the scimitar for breakfast
How about a runabout vers delta flyer?
Where can I get this game please????

Part of the reason they gave Geordi ocular implants in the next film. And in the one after he got natural eyes.

In STO ValDore little smaller than mogai
ValDore class actually made in memory of battle that mogai warbird fought in against the scimitar
We so need an updated D'deridex in canon
Why abandon that design?
Has the Enterprise-D not been destroyed at the Battle of Veridian, it would have fared worse against the Scimitar as it didn't have quantum torpedoes.
It would have received quantums during it's Dominion war refit. It would have lacked the maneuverability and as much ablative armor as the Sovereign.
@@ErokCherokee The only ship refitted to carry quantum torpedoes during the Dominion War was the Excelsior-class Lakota.
I don't get it, torpedoes are just utterly useless when fired in anything but single mode.
