- My Kohler San Rafael K3467 toilet would run several times a day. I went to Kohler's website at www.kohler.com and searched the model number. Kohler has a great parts diagram and it showed the 1013944 Flush Valve Kit fits this toilet.
I hope this video makes it easier to DIY replacing this flush valve.

PS Sorry about the orientation change near the end. It's my first video. I accidentally ended the video and when I restarted it I didn't notice the orientation change.
Thank you for posting this video. For the benefit of any viewers watching this, you do not need to replace the entire flush valve assembly just because the seal is leaking. You CAN purchase the seal (Kohler part #84676) alone from various sources. I bought it for $3.40 from Amazon in May 2021. The flapper (Kohler part #GP 84995) is also available from Amazon for $6.89 in May 2021.
Thanks for the update! The seal was not available separately when I made this video. It's great to know that it is now.
@@BruceFeingold oh yeah, I've been there and know what you mean. things change all the time. these part numbers become discontinued, then later substitutioned by newer updates, etc. Your video is very helpful to me so I want to contribute and pay it forward to the next person. Hopefully they'll do the same and this video will help plenty of others. Thanks again
if u still get notifications on this, just wanted to say thank you! was about to pay someone $140 to install one of these, but i was able to do it myself. appreciate you!
I'm so happy that this helped you!
Home owner who really appreciated this video….. saved me a ton of money
Glad to hear that it helped
Thank you! That was super helpful. It helps to dig the thumbs in the valve hole to get a good grip and push it in.
You are welcome! I'm glad this helped you.
very insightful
I cannot compress the gasket sufficiently to seat the clips. Any helpful hints?
It's been a while since I did this. I'd make sure the gasket is well seated and try and compress it a little. Then put it in place at an angle where the bottom makes contact first. Then pull it forward with both hands. I hope that helps.
Bruce, I got it, Thanks. My issue was even though I had the lip seated, the body of the plastic flush valve wasn't entering into the drain entirely. Therefore it was preventing me from lifting the entire assembly to compress the gasket. Once I figured that out, it required a simple jiggle until I felt it in the drain and it immediately it clipped into place. Thanks for the video, without it I would have tried it.
@@RogerHaskin-t7s Excellent! Glad I could help.
Great video. Shows what you need to do to replace/install the flush kit. Thanks
Thanks! I'm happy I could help.
Thanks for the video. Too bad you can't just change the seal as that is that appeared to be the apparent problem. I see Kohler sells it only as a kit. I have 3 of these toilets and have changed the flapper valves multiple times which has solved my problem but not this time. I'll be changing the flush valve, so thank you again for the video.
Very helpful, now I need to go try it!
Thank you. Very good explanation of how to replace the gasket.
You're welcome. I'm happy I could help.
I am about to try this but I don't how the bottom lip will engage with the gasket in place? Any tricks to pre-compress the bottom part of the gasket? That part was left out of the video.
I just made sure the gasket went around the opening and then pushed the whole thing on. I didn't compress it in advance at all.
I am in the midst of this project. The video was very helpful. I now have the part (kit as described) but am having a challenge getting the bottom lip to engage with the gasket on. I say another video that suggested I freeze the gasket while compressed (eg between 2 clamps). I am trying this as we speak but don't know if it will work or damage the gasket? If you found a better solution please let me know. Thanks
@@chrishillyer8455 As I mentioned above, I just made sure the gasket was fully seated and then pressed firmly to get the whole thing on.
@@BruceFeingold Thanks. in reviewing you video I was reminded that you have a K3467. I have a K3384. Which looks the same but the only difference re the flush valve that I can tell is that mine does not have clamps but has to be inserted into the ceramic bowl and twisted. I think that requires more force
@@chrishillyer8455 Gotcha. Good luck with yours.
Do these toilets clog often, large traps?
We've had this toilet for over 20 years. It's rarely clogged. However, I believe the new ones use a different flush valve setup. So, it may behave differently.
your overflow /refill tube should be above the water line....preferably at the top of the tube. sometimes, one piece toilets will cycle if the tube is below the water line.
Great tip. Thanks for sharing!
Do you need to grease the gaskits/flapper to make a complete seal?
Sattar Lodhi No. Not at all. And it's been completely fine since the replacement.
Bruce Feingold Thank you Bruce
Thanks for the tips!
You're welcome!
Wtf is with your water leaving that nasty waterline. *gulp*
