What's would you say was the best game from the guys at Accolade? 😇🕹👌 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= More from 1988: tinyurl.com/1988-C64-GAMES My Top Picks: tinyurl.com/CCGS-BEST-GAMES
I agree, it's still just as good now as it was all the way back in 88'... as soon as you've mastered how to control the train, its very very addictive 😇🕹️👌
Accolade did an amazing job with the C-64's graphics in creating experiences that really pulled the player into the situations presented. I do find it a _little_ odd, though, that the train's gauge is in MPH, but the distance to the bridge is presented in kilometers.
You make a very very valid point! In fact, I am going to Ireland next week and I need to quickly try to work out how fast I am travelling in the car as mine has analogue MPH dial and all the roads over there are in KM! Gah 😇🕹️👌
Brilliant game isn't it, was mega exciting as a kid... I used to take the 'long-route' just so I could drive that train over longer sections. Great memories 😇🕹️👌
Haha someone came to our works today from Middlesborough, company called 'Salesfire'! - he said he got the train over too... should have checked his briefcase for some vintage French oils 😇🕹️👌
One of my all-time-top-10-C64-games. Still play it those days. A real gem! 👍...and totally abgefahren of course!! 😉 Great video, my friend, thanks a lot. 🙏
It seems much more complicated than it looks, but once you master where the train controls are it becomes pretty straight forward and is an instant hit! 😇🕹️👌
Crazy to think what they could cram into a Commodore 64 game back in the day... I was mesmerised with this, had me instantly hooked. Still good fun to play even now 😇🕹️👌
Wow, another classic I had never heard of! I came in expecting a Railroad Tycoon or train sim sort of game, but instead got a high-stakes, thrilling game of action, subterfuge, and train-driving! I'm definitely going to check this one out.
It really does have all of those elements! Such an immersive 'race against the clock' railroad epic adventure... definitely check it out, but do be sure to brush up on the train controls first. Once you have those mastered, I'm sure you'll grow to love this little classic 😇🕹️👌
A very engrossing game, actually felt like a proper 'getaway' as you'd try to outrun the planes on the train and storm the bridges - brilliant game 😇🕹️👌
I definitely loved this one from back in the day. It was like a perfect balance of sim and arcade, sporting a decent interface and some (for then) top notch graphics, truly showing off what the mighty Commodore could really do. (Right along with Grand Prix Circuit, Test Drive 2 and a fair deal of other AAA titles.) Easy enough to quickly get a handle on. Yet challenging enough to demand multiple replay sessions to successfully finish.
Very clever game indeed & once you mastered those train controls you had an awesome feeling of power and adventure as you'd steamroll through Normandy with a carriage full of precious cargo - I love this game 😇🕹️👌
A tip: the grey little guy runs when the player is firing the gun and not when the enemy is hit at the lighted windows. So to pass these levels quick, you need to fire constantly and only hit the enemy when they are almost hitting the player. In this case, there is no need to kill 25 enemies on the first stage, but only around 4-5.
This is an awesome game indeed... definitely check the manual and have a good read through, so you'll know exactly what to do and how to control the train - after that, its just pure class this game 😇🕹️👌
I remember playing the DOS version a lot when I was a kid, and I have the digital release from GOG. A train and playing as a Resistance Engineer. If I didn't know better I would think they were making a concept specifically designed to appeal to me. I've always had massive soft spots for trains, techie type characters including Engineers and stories about rebels or resistance fighters taking on evil governments.
I think you definitely should, the action and simulation balances perfectly and once you've mastered the train controls its a super immersive classic 😇🕹👌
Ahh nice, I always enjoyed games that were so Involving like this is - I also enjoyed one on the channel called 'terror of the deep', where you have to control a submerged diving Bell. Great game too - ua-cam.com/video/1nFRTpvEVa4/v-deo.htmlsi=uvLbr-WJ-cM4zrvd 😇🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Hey I'll check that out! It can be a little tough getting into these old sims but it was good of you to link to the manual for The Train!
Had this game on my Spectrum +3. It was fun, but finding out how to play as instructions were not the best and I was 10 was way funnier. I managed to finish it though : )
Always easier with an enquiring mind! I could figure things out quickly as a kid and rarely read instruction manuals. These days, I need to read through a whole book just to set the timer on my microwave 🤣🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer I liked the fact, even as a kid, that the game played differently depending on your decisions early on. First time through though, I shot everyone who even remotely looked threatening. Didn't turn out too well for me... IIRC, Accolade was formed by some guys who left Activision, which is funny because Activision was formed in a similar way!
Re-live those good old days and definitely get it fired up - be sure to keep a list of controls to hand so you don't get too confused with the train driving parts... once mastered, you'll be a whizz at this game and you'll definitely grow to love it. Patience is key 😇🕹️👌
I knew this Commodore 64 game from my childhood 😺👍, but never played it 😹. Accolade brought so many great games for the Commodore 64 and Amiga 😺👍🕹️. THE DUEL: TEST DRIVE II is still one of my favorite games on the Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️.
Having a 1541 disk drive, I looked for these types of games. SIMs, RPGs, and Adventure games. Was never interested in the arcade or platform games, preferred to use my brain!
Very true... I was hooked on games like MULE & Archon for that very same reason. But my brother hated the slow games, so we'd have a good mixture growing up 😇🕹️👌
C-64 had a lot of games that could not be ported to consoles, do to them being complex and requiring keyboard (and brain 😁) . It is sad that today such games are almost gone, as developers firstly aim for console market.
What's would you say was the best game from the guys at Accolade? 😇🕹👌

Amazing game back then and still is !
I agree, it's still just as good now as it was all the way back in 88'... as soon as you've mastered how to control the train, its very very addictive 😇🕹️👌
What an excellent premise, deserves a remake, with the ability to draw mustaches on the artwork.
Or fake boobies. That was my obsession whenever I was doodling on anything as a kid anyway (.) (.) 😇🕹️👌

A great game! and just like the train journey to Middlesbrough.
Haha someone came to our works today from Middlesborough, company called 'Salesfire'! - he said he got the train over too... should have checked his briefcase for some vintage French oils 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Careful, he will be well dodgy.
I hate getting the train from hartlepool to Middlesbrough 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Me and my friend spent hours playing this back in the good old C64 days🤗 amazing game for its time👍
Many good memories from playing this as a kid - I got straight back into it too, just as immersive as it was all those years ago 😇🕹️👌
One of my all-time-top-10-C64-games. Still play it those days. A real gem! 👍...and totally abgefahren of course!! 😉 Great video, my friend, thanks a lot. 🙏
Abgefahren x10 for certain, an absolute classic this one - definitely deserving of a top 10 place 😇🕹️👌
How have I missed this? This is right up my alley.
Have you played it yet? What did you think of it? Superb game this if this is your thing, like you say - you'll love it 😇🕹️👌
First time I’ve ever seen this game, but I wish I had it back in the day. It looks really cool and it’s quite in-depth
It seems much more complicated than it looks, but once you master where the train controls are it becomes pretty straight forward and is an instant hit! 😇🕹️👌
I forgot all about this game! It was so neat!
Crazy to think what they could cram into a Commodore 64 game back in the day... I was mesmerised with this, had me instantly hooked. Still good fun to play even now 😇🕹️👌

Loved it when i was a kid :P

accolade were peaking around this time - true kings
Very much so, all of their games had so much depth - very under-rated 😇🕹️👌
I definitely loved this one from back in the day. One of the best sim style arcade games around, even playing it now it feels fresh. One to 100% play at least once for the C64 fraternity 😇🕹️👌
I played this on my spectrum 128k +2A in 1990 and loved it - imagine if games had this level of difficulty on the first level 😂😂😂😂
Many would give up quickly these days. We had staying power back in the 80s hehe 😇🕹👌
Great game and lots of fun
Tons of fun, a steaming adventure on the railroads of France 😇🕹️👌
Wow! Never heard of this one. What a clever, creative game! I'm often amazed at how much of an experience the designers could pack into C64 games.

Ahhh nice! I will try that, as sometimes the train stations can drag on a little... good tip, cheers 😇🕹️👌
a very atmospheric game
Really is, so immersive - love this 😇🕹️👌
Corr, never seen this game and it looks great!!

Ahh brilliant. I'm glad this game resonated with you as much as it did with me too. A classic 😇🕹👌
I only played this a few times when my cousin brought it round to my house. Great game but maybe not as well known back in the day.
It was certainly a 'niche' game but for those who played it, am certain it will always be a classic title 😇🕹️👌
This looks like a game I would really enjoy. I've never played this one. I need to add this to my, "Gotta give it a try" list!
I think you definitely should, the action and simulation balances perfectly and once you've mastered the train controls its a super immersive classic 😇🕹👌
Really reminds me of the Intellivision game B-17 Bomber with the different views, realtime progress, readouts, gunfights, etc.

Definitely catered towards a certain kind of gamer, but well made. My favorite Accolade game was "Law of the West".
Law Of The West is another brill game, I like the graphic adventure style... haven't played that in aaaages, need to check it out again soon 😇🕹️👌
