  • Everybody's friend Captain Splatt (Dean) always brings many very interesting vintage off road buggies with him to the vintage events we go to and this year I asked if I could film his Kyosho 4WDS Progress out on the race track and I have to say for such an old relic it really did well out on the race track.

Great to see this old car hitting the track. Of all the early 4wd buggies, I feel the progress & gallop are often overlooked.

Lovely car and great filming. The Duke of Hazzard 'performance' really echoes the period that it was from and it looks like fun to drive. Thanks for the upload!

Dean really doesn't hold a lot back with the driving of his rare beauties and I was fortunate to be at the event with camera in hand. I was glad to capture the action at the time.

I am Japanese. I'm currently assembling this new vehicle. We are working hard to preserve valuable parts by substituting modern parts and improve performance. I would like to see a detailed video of this vehicle.

    Bouncy? Yes!! Awesome?? Yes!!!!!!!
A lot of weight & some big jumps for those 10mm shocks but it seems like it held together fine 👍 I appreciate the driver was fully sending it 😃

You aren't wrong there. I saw that Dean had it out on track at one point so asked if he could bring it out again at the end of the event and this was the action I captured . It actually didn't break or slow down so in my mind it was a big win

In the past I have built these early cars up but still yet to experience driving them but when Dean had his out I knew I had to grab some video of his in action.
      Really glad I did.

Dried up perfectly! Guessing friction shocks in that kit?

Oil shocks, same as the Scorpion. So oil, just not very much :-)

Not fully original, but cool car anyway! 👌 Good driving as well, bit too hard for my taste 😳I drove with my MK II Gallop this weekend and with rear steering it's always a bit special. Turning not enough in the start of the corner, then too much and you need to correct.... Good car for slaloms! Turning left and then right is perfect😉

Besides bottoming out a bit too quickly for a buggy it did pretty well.

Keeping in mind this car is still running the kit standard shocks, this isn't a car Dean puts into the heat of battle of serious competition. Kudos to Dean for having the passion to actually drive his car and I can agree he actually drove the car well enough considering its design limitations.

What wheels and tyres are you running? Great video.

Not sure you watched the video in its entirety but to let you know, this car is not mine nor was I driving it.
Captain Splatt (online user name ) or Dean owns this Progress. Not sure on the wheels but tyres look to be Schumacher CAT spikes

@@Bormac073 ha ha ha! Of course. I have a Hornet! And now I think of it, a Scorpion, but that’s kind of cheating cause its shocks are good (re-re).
