As someone who has done this, I completely agree with what he’s saying (for the most part). In most scenarios, it is not as simple as this makes it out to be. Things like family, work, school, etc. that you can’t control, will make this process much more difficult. You have to remove or find a way to come to terms with these things that you can’t control. That job is a lot more pertinent and significantly more difficult.

I believe some of this to a degree. Gratitude is very important and being outside can be a great way to cope but none of this is going to just fix you. Tucking away bad memories and emotions doesn’t work long term and working through them is a necessary part of life. Coupled with that is the fact that everyone experiences things differently and psychological problems like depression for some won’t just be solved by being grateful or going for walks. I say this as someone who has been through depression and as someone who has attempted suicide and has been in multiple different psych wards. I was depressed to the point of needing electroconvulsive therapy (electricity being sent through the brain creating a seizure to induce chemical imbalances in the brain to level) and well gratitude is great it simply isn’t enough for some issues.

And then proceed to start my day like usual like Gym, university, work. And you know what, I‘ll start right away tomorrow, I won‘t wake up at 6am because my sleep schedule is absolutely broken, but day by day it will get better. Wish me success. Meditation is great and has many positive benefits, and absolutely everyong who is depressed or suffering anxiety should practice mindfulness. However, the idea to write things you are grateful for and other positive things is good in theory, but it doesn't work for everyone, it becomes forced and feels fake. Regiments like this also set people up to fail. It's too regimented and when you inevitably have to break that regimen it can derail the whole thing. Nor does it deal with the negative thoughts people have about themselves. He just wants you to pretend they arent there. Instead of blindly writing things to be grateful for write down those negative thoughts and then write a positive correction, e.g, "im ugly and no one likes me."I have beautiful eyes, and i like me, and so does my cat." These become your response whenever you have that thought. It helps by building new neural pathways in your brain.
Wake up telling yourself today I will be better than yesterday. This lets you make small improvements and helps you let go of any failures from the day before.
Since not everyone likes nature-- 30 mins in nature is punishment for me--, pick whatever activity you are doing and narrow your focus to that task be in the moment, and just let yourself experience that moment. If your washing dishes focus on the feel of thr water, sound of a squeaky clean plate, scent of the dishwasher liquid. Hot hot the water is how the bubbles tickle your skin. Just be in that moment.
I always hated trying to list things I'm grateful for,it always felt fake. So instead I try to find things that make me smile or feel joy/happiness throughout the day. Things like how soft the blanket is, how rich the chocolate tastes, how musical the rain is. Small things that make me smile.

It's nice to believe that focusing solely on positive perspectives and habits can stop you from feeling like shit, but the fact that you view these feelings as negative is already a sign that you interpreted them wrong, you must work through your feelings instead of avoiding them by wearing a mask of false enlightenment, and hoping the paint doesn't fade away. The objective truth is that your feeling this way because your subconscious mind is picking up on patterns of pain, betrayal and distain, etc. I recommend you sit down and have a therapeutic talk with yourself about how you feel, and don't try to undermine or lie to yourself. It's not you VS you, it's you understanding you.

Society is designed to teach us to become something were not, in order to fit into a culture we dont even relate too, to impress people that dont even care about us.
At the root of it all is the idea that humans are born to work, and then "enjoy" the last few years of their life, old and weak long past their prime.
I used to be in a dark place but one day i saw a quote somewhere that struck me. Human beings are the only creatures on earth that have to pay to live here.
After i stopped chasing money and material things and begain to live in the present moment, being grateful for the little things in life i realised that life is not the destination but the journey, and the people you can help uplift on the way.
Inderectly this helped me find god which inturn has given me great peace, happiness and faith that there is a bigger picture for us all.

Literally spend an hour being nice to yourself being grateful, speaking positively to yourself forget the other things. How you speak to yourself will ultimately translate in how you speak to others . The better you get the more opportunities you will open for yourself. It will be hard at first but just tell yourself “ I am” repeat it to yourself until something follows. If it is not positive rephrase it. I am loved, I am great, I am a leader, I am grateful for my life, I am grateful for parents, it doesn’t matter what it is and repeat somethings to yourself its okay. New and great affirmations will follow, things you never knew you thought of yourself and you will realize you can do anything with the the support of your own mind letting you know you are great and an unstoppable force of nature
