I'm glad I'm not the only one to appreciate what the new Trax does for car buyers. I spent a few days with one and didn't hate my time in it. I tell everyone its the perfect vehicle for someone who doesn't want anything in particular aside from great mileage and a low price tag. It's decently comfortable and accommodating, and spacious enough for most daily usage. Props to Chevy for that one.

Make $30k the limit. A $50k Integra is silly. Higher, even if they are good, they are simply inaccessible novelty. As for EVs, most, until the prices drop, are uninteresting novelty. Trucks may have some COTY candidates, but the COVID era price increases drive most to the unoptainable atmosphere.

Toyota Grand Highlander not earning the coveted IIHS top safety honors is a little bit disappointing, since its smaller sibling (regular Highlander) did.
Many years, the Accord had no business being included in 10 Best (I’m thinking of the mid-00s to mid-teens whale versions) but the editors seemed to look extra hard to find any excuse to include it, which really damaged the credibility of the list. Ezra was right this year in saying how Honda took away many of its most compelling features, yet here it is yet again. And with it, there goes more of the credibility of this exercise.
My God man, I could not agree with you more. I just posted the same thing. It’s an absolute travesty what C/D has done and continues to do with this car.
In truth they had it 3x... The Accord, the Acura Integra and then the Civic lol Even with their "price ceiling" the Trucks and SUV category had the Maverick and RAM 1500, then 5 crossovers and 2 "SUVS" Yet their price ceiling didn't allow the higher trim Lucid but allowed the E-Ray? If its off of base price, then where's the Dark Horse or any of the Last calls from Dodge as their base trim is $35k-ish. Dark Horse was on sale before the E-Ray was
100%. Honda is WAY overrated by these guys. Sales numbers alone prove the point. For me, the accord has always had too much road noise compared to other better cars such as the Camry.
I wanted to love the Accord and was fully planning on buying one. Unfortunately, I just can't get past what they did to the exterior styling, and it's kinda insane you need to buy the top trim just to get BSM and rear vents and USB outlets.
I just bought a '24 Accord EX-L and it's the best car I've owned in over 45 years. FYI... the EX-L trim has BSM, rear vents, and USB outlets... plus a whole lot more.

Not surprised. My father was a mechanic and he said the same. If ease of repair, cost, and reliability is paramount, stick with Honda and Toyota. Keep in mind this was said back then ... Less computer than today's autos.
The new Accord and Civic are exactly what they're supposed to be, IMO, especially the Accord. Simple, straightforward, and everything you need in a daily. Not trying to look sporty, not trying to be cool, just gives you exactly what you need with a little bit of fun involved. This refresh is an absolute win IMO.
Does giving you nothing more than exactly what you need make it the best? I think this magazine capes for the Accord in a way that's illogical. I don't think it belongs on this list. Just good enough shouldn't be good enough for a 10best list.

I bought a '23 Ram 1500 based on multiple positive reviews and one short test drive. Traded a flawless '08 Tundra owned from new. The Ram's only redeeming features were the side mirrors and console design. Its handling was horrible (wallowing pig comes to mind) and the "manual shifter" tiny button hidden on the steering wheel has to be the worst designed thing I've ever seen. And, even if you found the button, the transmission took about a minute to change gears. Mine was delivered with a defective 12" radio unit and it took almost 3 months to get a replacement. After 4 wasted months I traded it on a '24 Tundra which is better in every way (except the center console). Car and Driver drops a notch in my opinion after this one...
I test drove one and, compared to a 15 year old 100K mile Tundra, it seemed fine. So, I did get into one before buying it. And then got out of it as fast as I could. BTW, even though my brand new truck came with a defective radio, they waited months to replace it with a refurbished unit. I was actually waiting to get the radio repaired to get rid of the truck or it would have been gone sooner...@@HenryCalderonJr
There are obvious familiar faces here like the Accord, Boxter, Pilot, etc. But also totally unexpected ones like the fkn Prius and Grand Highlander. Toyota really IS making a huge comeback huh. Kinda sad the GR Corolla and Supra didn't make it this year.
I would accuse you of making a Consumer Reports 10Best but CR actually cares about practicality and safety and might skip Prius with its cramped back seat and the Hyundai, Kia and Toyota family haulers that have all failed the latest round of IIHS crash tests. Car and Driver 20Best in which 2/3 of the cars are bad to drive is a new one for me.
I heard from Consumers in the comment sections, other then the top trim, the car is cheapy overall. Honda needs to reconnect with its roots. Needs to get rid of the excessive road noise and get rid of CVTs and then improve their paint quality.
Unfortunately, Hondas have become ridiculously expensive. If you can get one for anything close to 30,000.00 you better have a gun when you talk to the salesman
Car and driver said back in the year 2000 that the Accord V6 was the best sedan that year. And i bought one. And it was the worst car i ever owned. I bought a 2001 EX-L V6 brand new and during ownership it has had 3 transmissions replaced, 2 of which during the 36,000 mile warrenty. The brakes were horrible and wooden feeling. I always felt that my brakes had such a hard time stopping that i had to start braking way ahead of time otherwise i would rear end someone. Not a confidence inspiring braking system. The brakes siezed up on me 5 times and it always happends during the winter time when there was snow on the ground. The transmission would slip even when brand new. The suspension was sloppy and handled like a dog. I was so glad i got rid of it. Every car i bought after that was way better than that piece of shitbox. Never bought another Honda again.
On the other hand, a whole lot further back when they first began the Top 10, they told me the VW Jetta was a good car (one I hadn't even considered when I went car shopping). So I test drove one and was immediately hooked. From that moment on there was never a time I'd drive the car and not end the trip with a smile on my face. I bought the GLI -- sedan version to GTI -- and driving it was so much fun. In fact, that was back in the day when fuel was under a dollar, and people would still go out for Sunday drives. Sometimes I'd drive over a hundred miles just because it was so much darn fun. From Old Topanga canyon road on the west coast, to the Florida Keys Highway on the east coast. Full disclosure: the fuel pump fail 6 months in, and was replaced under warranty. If they ever import an R SUV (performance R), I'll buy it.
VW is really underrated in the U.S. VW is the best seller in China for the last 40 years until Chinese manufacturer start producing so many cool EV’s lately that their sales has slumped big time.
This video is exactly why I canceled my 20 year subscription. “Nuculer?” Shouldn’t basic grammar skills (ex-presidents aside) be a requirement? Also, are all of the drivers in this test deaf? Nothing is louder than a Honda Accord inside. I sold them and it was the most common and difficult customer objection to overcome. Even in the video proclaiming its superiority, all you could hear was road noise. I couldn’t care less either way, but prioritizing sportiness over quiet, competence for a daily driver is asinine.
Domestic cars weren't very good?? You just admitted to being biased Plenty of EU & Asian vehicles were Not very good in the last 15 years Aswell. You guys show favortism 😅
And where is the problem? They are talking about the best car and not the most selling car. Tesla Model Y is selling so well not because it's an amazing car. It's selling because it has an affordable price for the equipment you get.
We need new people and fresh faces to do the 10 best. It is kind of one sided for the last 10 years. Not one car here can be also valued for long term historic reliability and maintaining low depreciation. But I understand these are new models. Just tired of seeing the same things over and over. Getting a little long on the tooth
Separate SUV and trucks!!It’s like comparing bicycles and motorcycles! 🙃 Honestly Car & Driver is totally out of touch with their recommendations. I’m sure it’s money based on advertising revenue by the biggest contributors. 😞. Dodge pickup?! 🤬 😂 Back to Consumer Reports honest facts and data. 📚 1) Toyota Prius - Best overall 2) Honda CRV- Best SUV 3) Toyota Camry- Best sedan (2025) 4) Porsche Boxster- Best Sports car 5) Subaru Outback- Best Wagon 6) Toyota Tundra- Best Pickup 7) Tesla Model 3- Best EV
For me, Car and Drivers opinion doesnt hold the same weight anymore. Theres something about this list of cars that tells me they are not consistent with the rating criteria and not being honest with themselves. Lol
RAM is currently sitting on over 3 months of dealer inventory...nobody is buying and any reliable quality survey will tell you why. RAM sales dropped 18% year over year 21 to 22 and have fallen again by double digits in 23. They don't deserve a spot on this list.
Car and Driver ought to be posting these videos in 4k 'cause 1080p is behind the times. Lots of people have 4k monitors these days and as an alternative, viewing can be set to 1440p in cases where there is peak throttling. I'm surprised a prestigious gold standard outfit like this would fall a bit behind.
Vehicles should be offered without their badges (outside & inside). Then it would matter a whole lot less what “brand” someone drives. We’re paying way too much for luxury badges.
I'd put the Elantra N on the list. I'd remove either the Type R or S, considering they both are repetitive. Having driven both, they do not perform/feel 11-17K better, don't offer 10 years/100k warranty including track days, and don't offer an automatic alternative. Also the Elantra N offers octane learning which is basically a stock hidden engine tune which raises max boost pressure from 15 to 20!! It ends up producing similar Type R/S HP and Torque. The Elantra N offers almost all the features on the Integra. 35K versus 46-52K, I think its an obvious answer. Put the same 265 width tires on the Elantra, and the manual version will offer lap times right behind the Type R/S, while the automatic with octane learning and tires will probably outperform them. Also the refresh Elantra N looks great and offers some improvements. Even if they raise the price a couple thousand, its still 10-15K less.
Drives me nuts when people can’t just give objective anlysis. He said in the early days there were so few good American cars they had to do 5 domestic and 5 foreign. Thats wrong. Just list the best cars available. Don’t interfere with it. I want to know what cars are the best. And that begs the question…what editorial decisions are they making now that we are unaware of? I don’t trust their list fully honest and unbiased.
I don’t trust the reviewers who only drove the cars but never worked on the cars. Stay away from turbo engines and CVT like Accords. Accords with Turbo is reliable? The guy has no clue about fixing a car. You cannot trust them.
Why is C/D not publishing fuel mileage in most of their ICE articles? At times they are being vague about this. Example; between the M3 and Darkhorse comparison, they just give mpg stats over a given distance but do not publish the actual fuel mileage of either car. Tread carefully, C/D, don’t feed into the big “E” propaganda or your publication will see fewer and fewer subscribers.

Read article by car and driver. The XL Maverick has cruise control standard now. The C&D article stated otherwise.
I was looking into Ram before I decided to go on the waiting list for 10 months to get my 22 Tundra hybrid.Love it.
Best vehicles: 1) Toyota, 2) Honda, 3) everybody else...

Not true. There are alternatives.
And also other segmants that
Toyota & Honda arent even
Competitive in. Like performance
Why would you buy it before getting into it? Hmmm
Grand Highlander Prius don’t deserve to be on this list
Toyotas not coming back 😂. They still can’t compete with Honda Hyundai Kia.
@@naveenthemachine ok hater.
@naveenthemachine The newest Prius gets almost 60mpg. Can't compete with that. That's motorcycle numbers.
@@spencerbair1137 Yes. THANK YOU. Someone who gets it.
@@spencerbair1137 at the expense of wind noise since it’s aerodynamic, cramped interior space tiny trunk and a bizarre driver cockpit
Maverick? And not Ridgeline ??
masterfully produced video! :D
Thank you C/D
What about mid size trucks? Tacoma, ranger, colorado, canyon, Ridgeline, and whatever else I forgot.
Can you guys please tell us where this is road is? I assume it's somewhere in michigan?
11:33 Thought you guys were looking for the perfect beat. 😜
What soundtrack is playing at 8:10?
Unfortunately, Hondas have become ridiculously expensive. If you can get one for anything close to 30,000.00 you better have a gun when you talk to the salesman
Please comment on reliability of Honda 1.5 turbo.
GTI S trim, ie, base trim, is the best affordable car on the market. Fun to drive, great safety features, a real hatch as large as a smaller SUV
Nope! It's ccccrap and that's why it's not on the list.
unfortunately the ergos on the inside is a deal breaker to a lot of people
Headunit interface is crap though

Nah. It’s actually very good.

Only silly reviewers
In the SUV segment, it's a wonder why the Mazda CX-5 Turbo was not on this list.
Let me save this to watch later... I'm a Lil busy
Toyota 4runner ??
No Mazda SUVs? 💩
Just look at the total advertising spend by each automaker, put a car from the top advertisers into categories, then voila... top ten.

Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro, simply the best
Domestic cars weren't very good??
You just admitted to being biased
Plenty of EU & Asian vehicles were
Not very good in the last 15 years
Aswell. You guys show favortism 😅
Let it make sense. The tesla model y became the best selling car. Not only ev. Car. How is such a car not on the list? Whats happening?
And where is the problem? They are talking about the best car and not the most selling car. Tesla Model Y is selling so well not because it's an amazing car. It's selling because it has an affordable price for the equipment you get.
@@andrzejmnich1285 It's the most amazing car I've owned and have owned many. The real answer is: Tesla doesn't advertise in their mag.
The Honda 1.5 engine is not good , we’re is the Toyota RAV4?
Great video but the sound is crazy. Voices are hard to hear music is blaring over them speaking
Wow! No BMWs!
We need new people and fresh faces to do the 10 best. It is kind of one sided for the last 10 years. Not one car here can be also valued for long term historic reliability and maintaining low depreciation. But I understand these are new models. Just tired of seeing the same things over and over. Getting a little long on the tooth
At 24:58, why does the Porsche have Mercedes-Benz’ license plate?
Separate SUV and trucks!!It’s like comparing bicycles and motorcycles! 🙃
Honestly Car & Driver is totally out of touch with their recommendations. I’m sure it’s money based on advertising revenue by the biggest contributors. 😞. Dodge pickup?! 🤬 😂
Back to Consumer Reports honest facts and data. 📚
1) Toyota Prius - Best overall
2) Honda CRV- Best SUV
3) Toyota Camry- Best sedan (2025)
4) Porsche Boxster- Best Sports car
5) Subaru Outback- Best Wagon
6) Toyota Tundra- Best Pickup
7) Tesla Model 3- Best EV
For me, Car and Drivers opinion doesnt hold the same weight anymore. Theres something about this list of cars that tells me they are not consistent with the rating criteria and not being honest with themselves. Lol
RAM is currently sitting on over 3 months of dealer inventory...nobody is buying and any reliable quality survey will tell you why. RAM sales dropped 18% year over year 21 to 22 and have fallen again by double digits in 23. They don't deserve a spot on this list.
All the lots are stacking up dopey
@@angrybeavers1175 Sure they are 🙄Try Google. Dodge Chrysler and RAM dealers are sitting on the largest inventory in the country.
Car and Driver ought to be posting these videos in 4k 'cause 1080p is behind the times. Lots of people have 4k monitors these days and as an alternative, viewing can be set to 1440p in cases where there is peak throttling. I'm surprised a prestigious gold standard outfit like this would fall a bit behind.
what an awful "10 best"
The Trax, with its deficit of power, is best suited for urban duty.
Vehicles should be offered without their badges (outside & inside). Then it would matter a whole lot less what “brand” someone drives. We’re paying way too much for luxury badges.
Honda needs to face off with the camry in NASCAR
“Elantra N looks great”, first time I’ve ever heard or read someone say that
Hyundai doesn't honor its warranty most of the time. It isn't worth the paper its printed on.
boy, you guys are really pushing Honda
it took them months to publish this, it looks like summer
Tread carefully,
C/D, don’t feed into the big “E” propaganda or your publication will see fewer and fewer subscribers.
No mention of the Lexus GX550 or the new Toyota Land Cruiser? Hmmm.
Neither were available for evaluation. They will be part of the test next year.
Plus neither of them are very competitive tbh
This video looks like it is a commercial to Car and Driver instead of highlighting the driven cars best features.
i think the lucid exterior actually looks worse with time.
Well, that was the least informative 'Top 10' on UA-cam.
