Congratulations on acquiring your dream puzzle ! The art work of Christian Riese Lassen is truly amazing and Clementoni is such an excellent puzzle brand. You have hours and hours of enjoyment ahead of you with this gorgeous puzzle. The name Lassen rang a bell for me and I put your video on pause while I rushed to my puzzle closet. Although my Lassen pales in comparison to your magnificent puzzle, I discovered I have two of the 1997 deluxe puzzle set of the art of Christian Riese Lassen featuring 3 puzzles in one long rectangular box - (1) Crystal Waters of Maui (550 pieces - similar to a small portion of your puzzle); (2) Rainbow Sea (700 pieces); and (3) Jewels of the Sea (100 pieces). This is a Ceaco brand puzzle and these puzzle pieces from 1997 have a surprisingly good quality. You are so lucky to find this rare 13,200-piece exquisitely beautiful Clementoni puzzle.
I'm just amazed about you mixing it all into one puzzle. This is gonna be a challenge of the decade for puzzling, I feel.

You must have brought a *really* large, empty suitcase to Spain! Not sure if my largest suitcase would have been sufficient. The one I used in Spain was half empty when I came there and I could take all the small puzzles (500+1000) with me back home... 🙂

No doubt you felt as though you could fly when you got that puzzle. 🦋 Congratulations on finally getting it. Oh my, all that sorting to do, what a task! I can never really understand why puzzlers wish to mix bags on these very large puzzles, but if that's what floats your boat......⛵ I shall look forward to seeing your videos about Spain when you are ready. You all did very well for a first time visit to Worlds.
Thank you! I really did feel that way. I never expected to find it so soon after I’d added it to the wish list, so when it pops up unexpectedly like that, it feels even more exciting! Opening it up in Spain felt like Christmas!! With mixing, it’s something I am building up gradually, to see if I can rise to the challenge. I don’t necessarily want to do it with all of them. I did it on the 9k Disney Museum, but won’t do it on the Dragon Forest for example as I think I will enjoy that more done in the sections. I knew I wanted to mix a 13.2k next. After that who knows, perhaps one of the 18k Ravensburgers…but yes, sorting is a hassle! 😆

I had an absolute ball in Spain, the livestreams in English were such a great addition this year I agree. At least they are still there to watch afterward if your time zone isn’t that compatible with Spain’s.

You're the first puzzler that I watch that's posted after Spain. Thank you . I loved every minute of the competition. I haven't worked a puzzle in awhile due to having 2 dogs, but after the competition I got a puzzle board with 3 sides with edges so we shouldn't feed any pieces to the dogs. lol Glad to hear that you got your dream puzzle. Looking forward to watching you putting it together.
You’re most welcome! I’m amazed I managed to get a video out to be honest, I only got back on Wednesday and there is all the unpacking, as well as back to work on Friday. Never a dull moment! 😆 I’m grateful though, it’s a much shorter trip for me than for say, Donnalouise, who had to get all the way back to NZ and is no doubt suffering the jet lag again 😩
Ah, our furry friends aren’t always a good mix with puzzles are they. That board you have sounds ideal though, that must be frustrating to have your pieces go missing inside a dog! Lol.

What a great puzzle and an exciting find! I've done so many puzzles by that artist, and this one looks amazing too. You're right--I think this one would be pretty doable all mixed together.
The artist has some gorgeous images on puzzles. The first one I bought from Rare Puzzles was also by him - called Daybreak, he likes to do sunsets I have noticed. They are so stunning!
I agree, I think it would be doable mixed - Visionaria too. As long as there are lots of sections to sort into, it will be fine. It’s really just the sorting that is the pain 😆

i was able to get my top 3 wishlist puzzles this summer. first I got the Ravensburger 9000 new York metropole, and than in one week time I found the Ravensburger 12000 New York the city that never sleeps and the Ravensburger 32000 Keith Haring puzzle. still on my wishlist. an education 8000 an evening in Times Square

Yay! So exciting to get one of the puzzles of your dreams! And what a beautiful one it is!
You know, I have no experience doing large puzzles, however, it is on my list of things to try someday, and I have thought about whether I would want to mix the bags or not. Keeping the bags separate almost defeats the purpose of a large puzzle, because it's basically like doing several "smaller" puzzles that link together. But mixing them presents the challenge of endless sorting.
I have thought of a solution that I think would work for me, but am curious what other puzzlers would think of it...
What I would do is sort one bag at a time into the different colors and patterns, then take the next bag and keep adding to the piles of the previous bags. Then, once I got through all the bags, I would take each pile and mix them up separately.
This way you could get a sense of accomplishment after completing each bag. And I think one of the advantages to doing it this way, is that if there were to be a color or pattern that only appeared in one of the sections, you wouldn't have to search through the entire several thousands of pieces for that one little bit of the puzzle. You could even start assembling that little part before you even go on to the next bag.
I haven't thought of all the pros and cons of this method compared to the other two methods, but I thought it might be something worth sharing. :)

Oh wow! That Paris 18k is beautiful! I would love that puzzle too, but it’s another that is hard to get for a good price. I have a close friend who recently bought it. I hope one day he will let me help him build it 😁

Hi Vicky, and glad you had a good time in Spain. I watched all the live streams after they happened. I bought this puzzle at least 20 years ago and haven’t done it yet. I just bought a bunch of the Ravensburger Escape Room puzzles. I saw the 500pc Ludicrous Library in the pairs competition and had to buy it (reminds me of Escher). Congratulations on getting this puzzle. Looking forward to watching you do it. Maybe you will post a weekly short showing your progress.
I really did, it was fab! Yay - I’m glad you enjoyed the livestreams, it was so great to have them in English this year! That’s great you got this puzzle early on, by the time I realised it existed, it was already rare. So glad I have it now though!
I never got the Ludicrous Library in my pairs group, but I still brought it home, as I really loved the image as well. I love anything, weird, wonderful and fantastical like that! I’ll see how long it takes me to build it solo, I don’t really have a pairs partner I can do it with here at home. I’ll still enjoy it though.
Good idea on the progress shorts! For a mixed bag project like this, that might be the best way forward on it 😊
that’s exciting, congrats! that looks like an amazing puzzle, but i’ve never done one anywhere close to that size. if they had a 1,000 piece version maybe. looking forward to seeing the videos on it
Thank you! It is gorgeous, I fell in love with it the moment I first discovered it existed 😍. I don’t know if a 1k version of it exists, but I think I’ve seen a 2k version, only thing is I don’t know the brand. He does do other images with stunning sunsets in - there is a 5k Ravensburger called Daybreak by him. I’m sure there must be other smaller ones too. 😍

Congrats on getting the Lahaina puzzle. I've seen them around from time to time on ebay but very expensive and way out of my reach. I did buy the Visionaria one that I see behind you on the shelf. I also have the Disney Orchestra one and someone sold the Sellagrippe Dolomites one very reasonably a few months back and I bought it - only one bag opened but complete so i have a ton of work ahead of me. I just finished the Disney Favourites 5000 one and the If Fish Could Walk one. I really need to get busy in ebay and see if I can figure out now to list and sell some of the ones I won't do again

Visionaria looks truly beautiful and the Disney Orchestra remains my all time favourite puzzle to date! I also hope you enjoy the Dolomites - it’s very pretty! I like Demelsa Haughton’s artwork - I have the Novel Avenue by her - If Fish Could Walk would be another I’d love to have in my collection.

Dream puzzle? I don’t know that I’ve found one yet, haven’t yet decided how big I want to go. We just put an 8x4 piece of plywood on sawhorses in the basement; if I want to do a 6000 it would require taping together foam boards to overhang. Doable! Meanwhile, I finally finished the 5000 piece Artistic Mickey. My amused partner asked me how long it took other people to complete it.
Me: “Vicky says it took her about 35 hours.”
Him: “How long did it take you?”
Me: “109.”
Him: 🤣
Me: “She *is* a professional in the Major Leagues!”
Currently on the table is Colin Thompson’s “Bizarre Town” Ravensburger 5000 piece; started sorting it last night. I didn’t know he was an author/illustrator of children’s books. It turns out the puzzle is a massive collage of illustrations from several of his publications. There’s so much going on in every corner of the image I don’t know if I will have seen everything in it even after finishing the build. Maybe this one will only take 108 hours! 😃

Congrats on finishing the Artistic Mickey, it’s a lovely puzzle, I had so much fun with it. I don’t really have an inkling of how quickly I’m doing them, because I just get so immersed. Some puzzles just seem to fly together though and I often find that to be the case with Disney puzzles, and I think 109 hours is great too! Not sure I’d call myself a professional, but it’s lovely that you think so 😁
Bizarre Town looks so fun - I really like the Colin Thompson puzzles, including the 18k Library one, they are so busy, but really fun. I will get round to doing one, one of these days! I hope you enjoy it - I didn’t know that they image was made up of pictures from his other works. Thank you for sharing that 😍

Vicky- so glad for you. Warning on the Star Wars puzzle- apparently there was a boxing? issue with some of them. I bought a shrink wrapped box, ended up with bag A, bag B and 2 bag Ds :( I contacted Ravensburger and since puzzle out of print they couldn’t resolve. So just to be aware and something to look out for.
Oh my, that’s such a shame! That must have been so disappointing. Thank you for warning me. Maybe an open box, but sealed bags would be the way forward when purchasing this one then, just so I can see which bags are in there! Of course it all depends on what’s available I guess.

Yes I am! I know others sell on that site too, but it just so happens that he is the only one I’ve dealt with on that site so far. He has been so great, brilliant communication and careful shipping. It’s so great to find a seller who I can trust, particularly when it comes to the rarer puzzles 😍
Pausing, and guessing that it's "Life", the 24000 pieces one. - It wasn't, oh well. Looking forward to seeing that one. My local book store had a 20% off sale this week and I picked up the 6K Clementoni Venice Sunset one you did a while ago. Haven't sorted out the puzzle boards for it yet though yet (it was bigger than I had counted on).

Oh Venice Sunset is a beautiful puzzle, and so enjoyable to put together, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it since it’s not usually the type of image I go for. It really is stunning though. I hope you get your puzzling space for it sorted soon. Enjoy when you do! 🥰

One factor that makes this puzzle especially poignant for some is that Lahaina is the historic town in Hawaii that was recently pretty much completely destroyed by wildfires. The scene you will be building is gone now. 😢

Just out of curiosity: What is a "reasonable price" for these kinds of puzzles? I'm pretty sure I have seen that Starwars one pop up in stores here in Germany sometimes for around 160€ (which seems super cheap to me compared to even old/rare 1000-piece puzzles). But that might have been some years ago... I want to keep an eye out.

Thank you! It was a great experience to get it in Spain, and it meant Janette, Donnalouise and Jubie could all join in with the excitement too, which was lovely. Yes, mixing will be tough, well sorting will anyway, but I really want to try mixing a 13.2k, and hopefully, once sorted, it will be doable 😍.
The 18k Ravensburger that I want is called Galactic Time Travel, it’s a Star Wars one, a collage of all the characters, from the original series at the top and the newer ones at the bottom. I’m a big Star Wars fan 😍

It’s hard to get hold of now as it is discontinued. You can find used copies, but usually for an astronomical price 😩
Such a gorgeous puzzle! I’m glad you finally got it. I can’t imagine mixing all the bags 😮That image is bittersweet though. The town of Lahaina unfortunately suffered major damage almost two months ago due to wildfires. I hope they can rebuild.
It is beautiful, but so sad as you say, that Lahaina was almost destroyed by the wildfires. I truly hope they can rebuild as well, it’s a real shame if they can’t 😢

Honestly though, if I’d won that in the raffle I have no idea how I would have got it home. It would have cost a fortune to post!! I saw that puzzle on Karen puzzles. And when I saw it I fell in love with it.
Yes. I’ll admit to a little jealousy when, right after I say in my Q&A video that I really want this puzzle, it popped up in one of her videos.

So, to be clear, the Lahaina puzzle is pre divided into six sections
You are going to mix them all up together,
Spend hours resorting all those pieces, and then because of lack of room, you're going to do this puzzle in sections and assemble those into the whole puzzle. WHY would you do that when the puzzle has already been pre divided into sections, and you have those other puzzles waiting for you?
If I find the starwars puzzle I'll buy it and send it for free if you want ???
