    It was nice to meet you at worlds. That is definitely a very respectable time for this difficulty of puzzle. The level of competition was incredibly high this year!

      Same! It was nice to meet you!
      I believe that the number of participants and the level will still increase in future years. Probably not at the very top (Alejandro and Kristin will still be hard to beat) but reaching Top 100 in one year will be quite a bit more challenging than this year...

      Thanks, Catherine! Our team sessions seem to have been good training for me. 😊

      Thank you! When I tried it a second time some weeks later, I was 3 minutes slower. 🙂

    Nothing wrong with that time, within the 90 minutes. 👍You can give yourself a pat on the back for that. Not a puzzle I would even consider doing as the image is not one that I like. Quite difficult with the colours for the building and then the tables and chairs. I shall be interested to hear your thoughts on the competition and the puzzles that appeared.

      It would probably not be the first one I would buy in a shop - but surely a puzzle I would like in a competition setting...

    You did so good! Such a shame you couldn’t participate.
    That puzzle was not very easy, although I quite liked it. I did get a little confused with the greens and walls of the buildings. And of course the tables at last.
    I plan to do it again at home and hopefully shoot it. I’m not very confident I’ll be able to beat my time however, I feel I was more concentrated in Spain.

      You will surely beat your own time if you puzzle it a 2nd or 3rd time. But for me it is also like you described - I had the impression that the competition setup in Spain made me very focussed...

      @@LogicMasterSteve Yeah, you never know how fast you could have been there.
      I’m thinking of doing it this month as after that I’ll be lending it to a friend. I told her if she beats my time she has to come to worlds with me next year 😂

    • @LogicMasterSteve
      @LogicMasterSteve  8 місяців тому +1

      That was strategically not optimal. You should have told her she has to come to worlds if she manages to stay under twice your time! That is difficult enough! 😊

    Was nice to meet you in Valladolid (during the tour). I like how you superimposed the competition video with your own!

      I am glad if you enjoyed the video! We did not meet much again after the first day, true? How was the event and the competition for you?
      Today I have continued editing my first part of WJPC recap videos (which I filmed 3 weeks ago!). It might be out in a day or two...

      @@LogicMasterSteve true....after that day, I don't recall seeing you again! I ended doing average compared to who was there, but better than my timing at home, so pretty satisfied overall. Were you happy with yours?

      @@maddytcam6660 I answered your question in my new video: Yes, I am very happy with my results despite the fact that I missed the Individual Final as closely as possible. These were special and fun days in Valladolid. Shame that we did not meet again - others like Maeva&Celia (FRA) or Pontus&Fia (SWE) I met over and over again after the first day - but they were in the same puzzling groups as myself. The event was large enough to loose contact to some puzzlers. 😌

    Amazing time on such a difficult puzzle, congratulations! 🙂 It was very interesting to see what would have (possibly) been your placement. As a fellow puzzletuber I have to ask you this question: How did you get that timer there?? 😅 I haven't found any solution myself. Thank you in advance! ❤️

    • @LogicMasterSteve

      I edit my videos with DaVinci Resolve - a free program which is *very* powerful - it even offers too many possibilities! If I want to learn something for this program (e.g., add a timer) I search for UA-cam tutorials...

    You look at the box too much :D I think you waste time on one single piece when you could be trying others. The fastest puzzlers don't really look at the picture much at all. Of course, I'm not there, so it's easy for me to say this :D I have no idea how I'd get on as I've never tested myself, though I already know I could never be as fast as the top puzzlers :D I think doing this within the 90 minutes is quite the achievement:D

    • @LogicMasterSteve
      @LogicMasterSteve  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your spot-on comment: You are absolutely right that I use the box too much - I have mentioned it in previous videos. But at the moment I would loose time if I did not use it. Other very fast solvers (faster than me, but not the top puzzlers) compare every(!) single piece with the box and position it correctly - from the very first piece on. See e.g. Viki puzzles on UA-cam.
      I plan to train getting more independent from the box (puzzling without the box, puzzling without even knowing the motiv,...) but it might well be that this new approach will not improve my time. Perhaps my brain needs the structure the box gives me? Only time will tell...

    • @Fiobo823

      @@LogicMasterSteve Yeah, I've seen others talking about this technique, but I don't think it's faster than actually sorting. Imagine if there's a lot of dark, like in the Lupins puzzle. You'll never be able to find the exact spot! I know some people have tried it, but found it slowed them down massively, while others really liked it. I'm pretty good at not using the box much when I puzzle, I look at the pieces and see colours and texture that match. I'll really only look at it when I need to place sections correctly. I also almost never do the edges first. I tend to sort sections and edge pieces will be in that section so I do them. I really dislike having the frame put together but a load of loose pieces inside it, no idea why :D

    • @LogicMasterSteve
      @LogicMasterSteve  8 місяців тому +2

      You should try timing yourself - at least once to see if you like the added "pressure".
      The "Viki"-technique is not suitable to all kinds of puzzles but she would leave tricky areas for last and build them without the box.
      Kristin Thuv used to puzzle one-handed and is only a little bit faster now that she uses both hands. Number 2 in the world now and then... 🙂

      @@LogicMasterSteve Kristen is so good :D You can see how stressful it is for her and Alehandro to puzzle at that speed though, they both looked knackered at the end :D Karen Puzzles tried her one handed technique on the dog puzzle and couldn't get anywhere near her time, it really was impressive :D She also leaned over the table more this time around, which cannot be good for your back, though a lot of people do it. I am thinking about ordering a timer, but I haven't got around to it yet, it's in my Amazon basket though :D
